OLI MCGEE
 

 
Pierre Mario Oliver McGee (born 20 June S67) is a canadien undrafted junior ice hockey left winger currently playing for Team Brigade in the JST. He was drafted 42th overall by Team Brigade in the JST S84 entry draft and is eligible for S85 VHL entry draft.
 
EARLY LIFE
 

 
Oli McGee was born the 20th june S67 in Saint-Claude-de-la-Conception, Qc. He started playing hockey at five after receiving a shiny white and red Titan hockey stick as a christmas present in S72. Showing talent both in ice akating and puck handling, he joined the MRC Saint-Néan hockey program. Oli steady progress into an elite youth hockey player. At 9, he was a reserve player for a poorly talented Saint-Néan Feret AA peewee team. His abilities earned him a permanent post with the Feret, playing in the U-12 elite caliber at only 10 years old. In S78, due to McGee’s outstanding play, the Feret would qualifie for the Virtual Quebec Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament (VQPWHT), a first in the MRC history.

Oli McGee’s joined the College du Mont-Sacrament Castors hockey program in S79. He played is first half seasons between the school Peewee and Bantam teams. At age 13, he joined the Midget U-16. He played three season for the Castors until he was consequently banned due to the
Chickengate incident.

Midget AAA Laval Titters
 


Since he was banned from college program, Oli McGee moved in Laval to play for the AAA Laval Titters. Althought he had to miss 10 games to do his obligatory community service as a road kill cleaner, he still manage to be the 3rd league scorer with a production of 25G 31A for 56P in 30 games. In S84 he finish as the top scorer with a production of 38G 27A for 64P. His outstanding production of 15G 14A for 29P in the playoff helped the Laval Titters win the Guy Doune cup.

Oli McGee as been picked 42rd overall by Team Brigade and is currently participating in the tournament as a second line left winger.
 
As of today august 22rd S84, Oli also been picked 40th overall by the Atlantic City Angus and he is expected to take part in the ProAm tournament. 
 
Finaly, Oli McGee is at first year of eligibility for the upcoming VHL S85 entry draft.

So, not too long ago now the invention of the Hybrid Attributes was brought out into the big big world of the VHL. I think this has done its job of fixing the VHL’s META problem it was having earlier. Honestly, I am so glad that someone is finally standing up to Zuckerburg and removing more and more power from his greedy little robot hands.
 
With the changes made this has effected cap issues and depreciation due to the value of TPE and how depreciation no longer hits as hard as it use to. Yes I know there is some rumours circulating about these being changed by the BOG but look at other suggestions I have made the BOG likes to move at a glacier pace. I remember some of the complaints and criticisms of the league when I first joined is that players should not be able to max out attributes to 99 and that was the way Mr. Simon T initially intended the sim to work. This hybrid attribute system I believe has addressed this slightly with most players no longer being able to hit the 99 cap in as many attributes as they use to.
Let us compare Goalies to players. At the moment goalies start all their attributes at 35 and can apply TPE to increase each attribute by 1. Players start all their attributes at 40 for STHS but 0 for the updating scale and each increase does not change any attributes by 1, but instead is applied amongst multiple attributes. Due to this the depreciation hits harder on goalies as their attributes are generally higher as it takes less TPE for them to hit 99 in an attribute. This divide between goalies and skaters means that it will be harder to make a rule set that is one size fits all. My proposal which you will see below aims at fixing that.
 
Here is my suggestion for Goalie Hybrid Attributes. I like the idea behind the hybrid attributes make the STHS a little bit more customisable to our liking. We can make small tweaks if we see something become META again, and changing up the league sort of resets what people consider strong builds and we see more diversity.
 
Before we fully dive into my proposal, let have a look and compare two goalies.

Here we can see the top Goalie in the VHL and the NHL you can see that the VHL goalie is significantly better and the NHL goalie who is considered one of the best in the league has a lot lower attributes. This was another one of my reasonings in creating the hybrid attributes to make the TPE similar between the NHL player and the VHL player.

With these attributes a 1200 TPE build roughly lines up somewhere between a 900-950 TPE build of the old scale. This compares with a player like Duncan Idaho who has spent 1278 TPE and has a 882 TPE build on the old scale, which makes the goalies seem a little better in relation to the skaters but seeing all their attributes start at 35 TPE instead of 40 I believe this to be a fair trade off.
 
I made each of the old STHS attributes have 3 associated Hybrid attributes for fair trade off. I tried to use attribute names from the popular EA video game NHL 22 as a reference point as I believe these too be usually quite self-explanatory and people should have some experience with the game in most cases.
 
I think that this proposal should be brought in front of the BOG.
 
In summary let me go through my arguments
 
Hybrid Attributes for Goalies will:
-          Provide more tweaking options for the Commissioners
-          Will bring Goalies and Skaters closer together to assist with Cap/Depreciation issues
-          Will more closely align Goalies and Skaters with how they are updated
-          Reduce the amount of players having 99 in multiple attributes
 
I would hope that the BOG and Commissioners have a look at  this proposal and let me know what they think. I am sure that it will be tough to implement but could provide a lot of future benefits if it would be introduced.

Antonio Barksdale debuted in the Junior Showcase Tournament for The Brigade. Prior to the tournament there weren't a lot of teams looking at him, but with how the leaderboards have panned out; it's quite interesting what GM's are saying around the league. There's a stirring flame to this fire so to speak with the young man from Italy averaging top five in most categorys in offensive, and defensive categories. He mentioned something about basketball, but said that dream went away with this tournament. He wants to solidify himself as a hockey great, and has the drive to do so it appears. The Brigade weren't struggling without him, but it's clear that he's helped along with some of his teammate's stand out performances. They are doing a lot better than expected, and with one of the rising Center prospects- their run is bound to get a little hotter on those skates.
 
Antonio has said that he likes the idea of playing in Miami, but talks aren't only limited to them. Some other potential landing spots are any that needs a center, he said- but his list is as stated below.
1. Miami Maruaders
2. San Diego Marlins
3. Houston Bulls.
4. Las Vegas Aces
5. Philadelphia Reapers.
 
He clearly has a favorite here topping the list. He's stated the reasons he wants to go to Miami are one he could improve the defense, and offensive flow on the court, but two- it's a good place for a young, and growing player. He's not shy to say the money he's got allows a lavish lifestyle for a young man in the Florida heat. 

Antonio Barksdale was an unknown name prior to the Junior Showcase. He came out on the floor playing a hefty amount of minutes averaging fifteen or so a game. The Italian center was a flash in the pan, but had a hot streak to start the tournament for the Brigade. Averaging a goal a game, and leading the tournament as of 8/13/22 in Goals Per Minute (2.19), and topping the center build with a line of 5-5-10 at the #1 spot- he's a statistic's beast, and rumor has it that Hockey is not even the sport he wanted to play. He wanted to be a basketball player, but it turns out on the ice is where he'll make the most impact. He's waiting for draft night, and to ink a deal he's told media reporters. He's shown prowess, and skill that not many players who have just picked up a stick a few months ago could.
His offensive vision has received solid feedback from his coaches. He's averaging 50% on faceoffs which isn't great, but isn't terrible. He's a solid contributor on the ice, and could be a good asset for any team looking for a starting, or rotational player. He's a known physical fighter type on the ice known to break into an altercation if necessary to protect, or rile up the enemy team. An aggressor, but an enforcer that tows the line not trying to go to far, or too personal in his attempts to mentally thwart the enemy. An instigator with a serious offensive game that shouldn't be taken lightly despite being new to the game of hockey.
It's clear while a standout tournament could mean nothing that a shot in the dark on this guy with a low draft pick could be worth it. His physical tooling is just built in a manner that could be described as "different." He's a true beast weighing in at 6'8, and 250 pounds, and has a unhealthy diet of five cheeseburgers a day, and two tall forties of miller light after the game- but it clearly works with the way he defensively blocks shots, and brings the puck in the net at the other end. The junior showcase has lit a fire under this prospect and he claims to be ready to put in the work, but will he back that up? Time will tell.
The Brigade weren't meant to make it far in this tournament, but there's been a push from several players. ST Louis, Dixon, and Barksdale emerging as a "big three" sort of movement where they are leading the team by example. A true force in the arena, and it's clear they aren't afraid to lace up their skates, and take the action to their opponents. Even if the team bombs out, and Barksdale's performance drops it will truly be a run to remember regardless once this young man get's drafted into the bigs, and potentially takes the league by storm. Or he's a bust- those are the two options.
