  1. It's nice to see, but we're still down 3-1. Those were all one-goal losses, though. We can still come back! #StormBrewing
  2. Noticed Klose wasn't having a good day so you stepped out of your role to make it close. What a leader!
  3. If you're like me (more so how I used to be) in that you feel you either want to be fully committed or not around at all, I can understand, but as these guys were saying, you can still build a respectable player with little effort. Granted, you won't get to be a star, but if you think you could still enjoy the league as a depth player, you don't need to expend very much time at all.
  4. Here is applicant! I'd take either job. I've been a VHLM GM before and would like to get back into it. I'd like to be able to do what I can to help new people get accustomed to the league, and I feel like being a VHLM GM is a big responsibility. I don't place high value on winning in the VHLM (while obviously if you have active guys in a winning situation, you want them to be able to win), but I don't feel like I need to put a team in a winning position to succeed as a VHLM GM. It's more important to get people comfortable in the league and make them feel welcomed. Chances are I would claim a player as soon as they hit waivers, assuming I can give them playing time. Also, being a VHLM GM was probably my favorite role to have in the league.
  5. You did face significantly more shots. Also
  6. Motion to ban James Faraday from the remainder of the playoffs for having an illegal TPE.
  7. Oh, Higgins was actually over 174 TPE actually. He claimed (after the final update for the season) a Fan590 from July 20th (2 days and in the week prior to the first sim) that would have put him at 175. Probably he should be suspended for the remainder of the playoffs.
  8. It's actually when the regular season starts, not pre-season. But let's say that the playoffs and off-season go by quickly, and the first sim of the regular season takes place on Sunday, September 28th at 6 pm, if you submit your media spot after that, you should be able to claim it and go over (at least, this seems to be how it has worked in the past). I guess don't quote me on that, but that's what Higgins did last season (except rather than having 6 hours after the sim, he had several days, but the concept seems the same). Honestly though, I'm guessing the season will start sometime between the 30th and the 2nd, putting it in the middle of the week. The time to submit a historical doubles point task will probably be over before the season starts.
  9. I would also like to be drafted in one of those rounds by whatever team picks Zoidberg.
  10. It's your decision, but I'm in a similar situation so I've looked at scenarios and at this point, and I think it's a net gain of TPE for your career if you stay in the VHLM, or maybe a loss of something like two TPE. I suppose your worries about the off-season being extended are warranted, but I truly doubt it will extend longer than next week (consider that if the season starts on a Sunday, you can claim points putting you over 174 for that week, but you'd have to submit the stuff after the sim). But you do what you feel is best for you. Part of the reason I planned to stay down was because I'm on my fifth player here and would like to see what it's like to have one of those dominant VHLM seasons (plus the Storm were set up for S41). And besides, if you do go over, that's less competition for VHLM awards next season and VHL RotY in S41.
  11. S40 will most likely start during the week of September 29-October 5. In my opinion, it's more likely that it will start a week earlier (which would be next week) than a week later.
  12. He can do TC if he doesn't do a doubles media spot, which I think he now plans on alternatively doing.
  13. Nothing wrong with liking your own posts. Why post something that you don't like?
  14. It's unlikely that it will happen. If both finals series are sweeps and the off-season takes the same amount of time as S36 (when there was no WC/SC as there isn't this year), S40 would start on the 28th, which is the last day for the S40 ceremonies. I, too, am hoping that the finals/off-season go very quickly so I can get TPE for the week when the season starts, but I'm doubtful.
  15. But by staying down you'll get S40 Achievement Tracker (likely 20, but we'll see what 50 TPE goalies on each team does around the league) and Practice Facilities that you get to claim.
  16. Historically speaking, the franchise that began as the Amstel Tijgers is better than all other in the VHL. While most would say this reputation belonged to Calgary throughout the first half of the league's existence, Davos has definitely taken over in recent years and it is hard to make a case against the team. Over the past 21 seasons, Davos has made the playoffs 17 times. They have appeared in 11 finals, winning six of them (with the potential for a seventh). This brings their total number of championships to at least nine in 39 seasons, while Calgary sits in second place at seven. Early on in the VHL, the Wranglers were the team to beat. Making the finals in six of the first eight seasons, Calgary won their third cup in Season 8. However, the Calgary of those days was not like today's Davos, and they couldn't compete forever. They went nine seasons without winning a cup, while the Dynamo tied them at three with victories in S7, S11, and S13. Calgary did win cups four, five, and six between Season 18 and Season 23, but Davos remained right on their tail throughout, winning in Season 20 and their own back-to-back in Season 24 and 25. With their victory over the Riga Reign, Davos became just the second team to reach the finals in four consecutive seasons. The other are the New York Americans from S25-S29. Unlike that New York squad, Davos has been able to win in the finals; while the Americans won no cups during those four seasons, the Dynamo are searching for the third during their run. If Davos can accomplish this, they would be the first team to win three championships within a four-year span.
  17. Oh, this whole time I thought Riga wanted to lose.
  18. Please make the off-season go by quickly so I can capitalize on this doubles week.
  19. This is why I've been telling your Riga Rains that Davos would crush you.
  20. I feel the same way. :\ Except the opposite because I'm on the Storm.
