Better late than never right? I promise we didn't forget about the holiday prize raffle! The draw will be taking place Sunday, January 28th, around 7pm EST. As previously mentioned the prize pool consists of 14 prizes spread over 4 tiers.

Everyone who responded to at least 1 day has at least 1 entry and everyone, staff included, are allowed to win. As usual if you win something and would prefer to receive the prize from the tier below you can do that. Additionally we will not exchange any prize for cash value but a difference in prize that costs the same or less can be negotiated under certain circumstances.

Callum just walked out of the SaskTel Centre after a briefing for the oncoming playoffs. Headphones on, pondering whether he wants to go to the Brevoort Park for a jog. He was just unlocking his car, when he saw a middle-aged man, snatching a hundred dollar bill out of the tiny hands of a six year old, and running away. The kid was clearly shocked and started crying, the accompanying parent was frozen on the spot, more concerned about the youngsters well being than the loss of the money.
Unfortunately for the aspiring felon, he was paying more attention to potential pursuers than what was going on in front of him. He was running towards Cal. As avid followers of the VHLM may know, the Swiss defender has an iron fist in a chainmail glove. He did not even think about it, but hip-checked the fugitive against his sturdy, solid steel pick-up. The thief then rebounded from the Ford and directly collided with Callum's outstretched lower arm. It felt like running into an anchor cable. The wanna-be thug dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes.  The Calgary native then, turned the suspect belly-down and secured them with some zip-ties he had on the bed of his truck. All while calling the police.
In the meantime a crowd has assembled, including parent and child, who could not thank Callum enough for his deed. Apparently, the youngster got up early in the morning all summer to do the odd job in the neighbourhood to earn the money for the first hockey stick. The family was struggling already financially and could not afford the coveted equipment otherwise. Callum told them that unfortunately the bill in question would be considered evidence and will not immediately be returned to their rightful Owner. So he opened his wallet and gave the kid two hundred dollars of his own money. Parent and kid alike protested, saying that they only had a hundred dollar to start with. But Cal-Gary would have none of it, and told the kid: 'You know if you come to our practice tomorrow morning, you will need a bucket and some skates as well.' The small family were over the moon and couldn't believe what the Saskatoon player just insinuated. 'I am sure, the other team members will want to meet a kid with so much dedication for icehockey.' And with that (and after giving his statement to the cops) he drove home.

Just straight up vibes for whatever render I ended up using. I would've thought you'd have to reach back further for a lot of these teams, but it's the same as the Scotty Campbell in terms of the oldest winner (S65 Toronto). What next?? Comment below!!! ⬇️

There was young promising prospect from France that declared his eligibility for the VHLM draft in S84 a bit late, but still managed to get the attention of a few teams that wanted to add a big forward that can skate, hit and score. So Alfred Champagne was a name that circulated a lot in the VHLM GM offices, but it was the San Diego Marlins that picked him at 19th. 
 
It was a difficult season in San Diego, and not just for team. Champagne had 9 goals and 19 points in 29 games. So at some point in the season, he was traded with a player that I don't remember the name to the Philadelphia Reapers. With that team, his offensive production really took a next step with 20 goals and 63 points in 43 games. That give him 82 points in 72 games so not that bad. In playoffs he had 4 points in 5 games, but that was not enough to make a long run and won the Cup.
 
After getting drafted in the VHLM, it was the turn of the VHLE to give him a chance. The Bratislava Watchmen used the 7th selection to grab him, the highest Champagne goes in the 3 drafts. His season overall was not that great, but he still managed to get 23 goals and 47 points in 72 games. Again not a point per game player in the playoffs, but that was close with 5 points in 7 games. Again no championship, but not a bad performance.
 
In the VHL, it was the Prague Phantoms who got the lucky number and picked the big forward at 11th overall. After only one season being a property of the team (while playing in the VHLE), the Phantoms traded him to the Calgary Wranglers. Alfred was ready to play in the North America conference, but only after a few days after the trade, he received another call from his agent saying that he got traded. He's going back to Europe to play for the HC Davos Dynamo! That's where he will play his next 6 seasons in the VHL and win the Continental Cup in S89 and win two Victory Cup in S90 and S91. With Davos, he got 149-161-310 in 432 games, 89- PIM, 1450 shots, 1641 Shots, 177 SB and 24 GWG. In playoffs, he's sitting at 6th in the team history for points with 25-32-57 in 79 games. Not as much as the legends Thunder, Mitchell and Teekirque, but as a secondary role I think it's not bad!
 
Now playing with Warsaw to give them a change to get into playoffs, he got so far 10-7-17 in 25 games. A bit less than what he made in the last seasons with Davos, but he entered regression so that didn't help and Warsaw have some difficulties to score so far, but we'll get there!
 
Will probably recreate after the next season, don't know what type of player yet, but hoping to have fun like I did with Champagne

"It's frustrating for sure, to put in the work not and not see the fruits. A lot of the coin tosses we'd win at the start of the season just aren't falling to us now. It sucks. The room gets eerily quiet after games. If I have to go out and parade around during the three star presentation after a 1-0 or 2-1 loss again I'm going to reach that point too."
 
Tough words from Americans goaler WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW speaking to media in Madison Square Garden following a 0-2 home stand fans expected four points. The Americans had high expectations following their strong start in season 93, seeing 36W not only rise to the top of the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy discussion, but the Shaw and Campbell trophies as well. Fans are heralding the Westport, CT born goaler as the greatest Americans goaler since A Red Guy - whom 36W had posters of on his walls growing up.

NEW YORK AMERICANS AGM ANNOUNCEMENT  
 

 
The New York Americans have decided to fill their vacant Assistant VHL GM position. The decision comes at a time where we have seen an increased number of interested applicants, and the amount of candidates were vast. After an internal evaluation of talent we have decided to go in the direction of selecting a candidate who is looking to gain experience in order to one day become a VHLM GM and eventually a VHL GM. This is a newer member, with a first gen player in their draft year. They have shown great promise in their team's locker room, one in which I am familiar with, being the former Houston Bulls GM. This member as a first gen has potentially a top five draft prospect Trimiskez Artav, and has been very impressive both on the forums and in discord since joining a little over a month ago.

Guntis Gavilrovs continues to dominate on the blue line for the Stockholm Vikings as he's been the top defenseman all season in the VHLE. His offense leads all blue liners with 32 points in 24 games, good for 5th overall in league scoring and his physical play is unmatched with a crunching 120 hits on the year. He also leads the league in assists with 27 and has spent more time in the penalty box than anyone else. He has the 2nd most shot blocks in the league with 68 while playing a ton of minutes for the Vikings who are looking like real contenders.

Just a really impressive season so far for the big Latvian defenseman, it's hard to imagine that anyone would have the nerve to chirp him.. but last seasons VHLM standout and current VHLE hated rival Logan Ninefingers recently called him out in the media after Guntis ran him over their last game against the Oslo Storm. Guntis has made a habit of laying out the less attractive Logan Ninefingers this season and recently said he will check him into his own bench next time they play! This will be a story worth following as we get into the heart of the season.
