While things may be looking bleak in Warsaw right now, as they sit 2nd to last at the bottom of the standings with only 23 points obtained through 50 games, there does seem to be a shining light and the end of the tunnel. Warsaw made out like bandits in the S98 draft selecting Peter Venkman, the far and away best defender 2nd overall, and getting forwards Zak Trokker and Jakub Kovar at 10th and 11th, with Remain Six Meters Back From Me, rounding out their 1st round of selections. Warsaw was one of only a few teams to have two prospects ranked in the top 10 with both Venkman and Trokker making it in, ranked 3rd and 7th respectively, notably they also had Kovar make it into the top 15 and R.S.M.B.F.M. slotting in at 19th among prospects. This gives them 4 prospects in the top 20 and 3 of which look to be taking their rookie laps at the start of the 99th season. They also look to have a top pick this year with a chance to snag one of the many strong defenseman in the draft in players like Krister Von Caser Tzesar, Titus Cunningham, and Additional Pylons, or maybe draft their goalie of the future in Yor Bjorven. As well as a strong, deep class for S100 coming up, it seems that Warsaw will have plenty of opportunity to build for the draft, and return to the playoffs soon, will Warsaw lift the Continental Cup again soon? It seems to be exciting times coming soon from the team built by GM @N0HBDY

There are many names for “tough guys” throughout the sport of hockey, enforcers, fighters, hotheads, and much much more. The sport of hockey is known for its hard hits and fights breaking out between its players, the VHL is no exception, it has seen many players come through who were ready to fight anytime, anywhere and lose a few teeth along the way. Today I want to highlight a few guys who made it their life’s mission to hit as many people as possible. Vinny Detroit You simply can’t talk about VHL tough guys without talking about Vinny Detroit. Vinny was no slouch offensively scoring 519 points in 646 career games, but where he really shined was in his toughness. Vinny is the VHL all time leader in hits with 3163 throughout his entire career which is enough for an astonishing 4.9 a game. He also spent an astronomical 1753 minutes in the penalty box, he spent more than 29 hours in the penalty box over his entire career. And Vinny was no stranger to throwing the gloves down as he was one of the league’s top fighters during his time. He might not have been the type of player to win a Higgins or a slobo but he teams were scared of him all the same. Edwin Encarnacion Edwin Encarnacion is another great example of a player who was always looking for the next person to fight. Edwin Encarnacion was a lower line, energy guy who got his teammates pumped and the fan’s cheering with his huge hits and many fights. He was always willing to put his body on the line for his team’s success with 1467 shots blocked, good enough for the 2nd most all time, and 2662 hits throughout his career. However, his most ludicrous statistic is the insane 2028 minutes spent in the sin bin, almost an entire day and a half’s worth of time spent sitting in the penalty box. He may not have been a high flying goal scorer, or a crafty assist artist, but he had his role to play on the ice, and he played it quite well. Tommy Sleeves Another player from Dasboot’s agency, Tommy Sleeves is one of the toughest defenders to suit up in the VHL. He is by no means an offensive defenseman, with only 230 points through his 555 career games in the big leagues. However on the defensive side of the puck, Tommy is willing to do whatever it takes to keep the puck out of his own net, with 1324 shots blocked in his time in the VHL. While hits are normally a stat dominated by forwards but Tommy Sleeves was no stranger to getting physical and laying out a few players, with 2413 hits, the most by any defenseman in VHL history by just shy of 400. He is also ready to get rid of the gloves and throw a few haymakers, so far in season 98 he has been in 6 fights while winning 4 of them, among VHL players he is surely one of the toughest. While the players I talked about today may not win a ton of awards or be known to light up the stat sheet, they still hold a special place in the VHL and can be some of the most fun players that keep this league special. Now give me that 6 uncapped TPE

The Philadelphia Reapers are the hottest team in the VHLM this year sitting atop the league table with 61 points in 36 games, on pace for 122 points over a full season, which would be the best season from a VHLM team in the hybrid era. Today we will be speaking with Jakub Kovar, a Czech left winger drafted 31st overall by the Reapers in the S97 dispersal draft who is having a breakout season being the team’s 4th highest scorer with 45 points and 18 goals so far, exceeding his full season total in 97 of 36 points and 13 goals. Reporter: “Jakub, with the Reapers performing so well this season, what is the energy like in the locker room?” Jakub Kovar: “Good, very good, everyone is very excited and pumped up for every game, much more fun than last year.” Reporter: “How has it been getting used to the United States, now that you’ve been here for a season and a half?” Jakub Kovar: “It has been quite tough, especially having to speak english all the time, and not being able to see my family as much, but soon I will be back in Europe in Warsaw so it’s all good.” Reporter: “Did you expect the Reapers to do so well this year?” Jakub Kovar: “Honestly no, obviously last year wasn’t great, missing the playoffs, I expected us to be better this season but not as great as we are right now.” Reporter: “What do you think is the secret to both your improvement and your whole team’s improvement this season?” Jakub Kovar: “I really think that the culture that our GM Matt has cultivated is the biggest thing, everyone is always working hard day in and day out to get better and prove something, and show everybody else just how good we can be and just how good we are.” Reporter: “You were drafted 11th overall by Warsaw in the S98 VHL Draft, did you expect to go to Warsaw before draft night?” Jakub Kovar: “Honestly I have to say that I didn’t even have Warsaw on my radar, as they weren’t one of the teams that interviewed me before the draft so seeing the call from N0H was a little surprising. Now that I have been though, I am very happy to be in Warsaw, though it was a personal goal of mine to be drafted in the top 10.” Reporter: “I know you mentioned it being tough not being able to see family as much now that your in America, have they been able to come to any games so far? Jakub Kovar: “Yes, a few, they came to my first game last year and were just here recently for a game against Ottawa.” Reporter: “Do you think that you guys have what it takes to get over the hump and win a Founder’s Cup?” Jakub Kovar: “I think we do for sure, we have a real next man up kind of mentality here and the leadership from guys like Longpre, Jeannot, Poole, Red, and Joy who have been in the playoffs before will really help. Reporter: “Alright Jakub, that’s all for today, thank you for lending me a bit of your time for this interview today” Jakub Kovar: “No thank you sir, it was a lot of fun speaking with you today.” WC: 558

6 capped a week? sign me up.

We've all been there, you've finished up your media spot for the week, aced your trivia, and answered your weekly press conference, 10 TPE, SO close to the cap. All you need is 2 more TPE and you've done it, you've hit the cap and you can sit back and relax away from the VHL for the rest of the week. But for some reason you just can't get that final 2 TPE, why? Cause VHL.com articles and reviewing are the worst. 150 words is just enough where you actually have to think about a good idea to write about but too little to the point where you don't wanna waste TOO good of an idea on it. I mean seriously, I cannot tell you the amount of times I have tried to write a VHL.com article just to end up close enough to the 500 TPE range that I can the idea and save it for a potential media spot another week. And don't even get me started on reviews, I mean seriously, 75 words on someone else's task for 1 TPE. I can't even think of more than like ~15 words to right about someone's work like, I look at a graphic and say "wow that's pretty 10/10" or "meh I don't really like it 5/10", how the hell am I supposed to stretch it 75 words and on top of that it's so awkward, like the person gets notified that I replied and reviewed they're work? No thanks. Of course I could just write a game review, but those are so mind-numbing and boring it's not even fun to write, at that point I'd rather just not hit the cap.

Game Recap: Game 28, Halifax 21st vs. Mississauga Hounds Score: Halifax (4) - Mississauga (2) Three Stars: 1 - Hater Tottingham (HFX), 2 - Petr Novak (HFX), 3 - Kal El (MIS) The 21st came out swinging in this matchup scoring in the first 30 seconds of the power play and 3 times overall from Cysteine, Novak, and Tottingham in the period as Kurt Bachman and MacGregor Walcott simply could not stay out of the penalty box. In the second the Hounds seemed to rise from their slumber with 2 unanswered goals from Kal El and Cameron Squires. The third period was much less exciting with only one goal from the Halifax 21st at 11:49 as the Hounds were defeated. Hater Tottingham had an amazing game with the eventual game-winning goal and two assists as he was the main driving force of their offense. The story of this game, however was the penalties. The Hounds granted the 21st twenty minutes on the power play, with their undisciplined play. It's never easy to win a game when you're down a man the whole time.

Game Recap: Game 21, Ottawa Lynx vs. San Diego Marlins Score: Ottawa (4) - San Diego (2) Three Stars: 1 - Ivan Grovnikov (OTT), 2 - William Tree (OTT), 3 - Fortnite Moneygang (OTT) The first period was relatively tepid with only 12 total shots on goal and only a singular lighting of the lamp by Grovnikov nearly 13 minutes into the action. In the second the Marlins quickly responded with 2 goals from their star forward Cardinal Copia within 8 minutes of each other to give San Diego a lead, however exactly two minutes after Copia's second goal Tree and Grovnikov combined again for a goal and Kyle Evans snuck one home with 5 minutes left in the period. In the third, despite getting out shot 8 to a measly 2 it was the Ottawa Lynx who would claim the only goal of the 3rd with Fortnite Moneygang obtaining his first goal of the season of the dish from Ivan Grovnikov. Despite the loss, Copia played an excellent game today with 2 goals, however he couldn't get any help from the rest of the team to secure even one point for the squad. Finnegan Tex Simms seemed to have a hard time getting into a rhythm between the pipes today, letting up 4 goals of off just 20 shots, hopefully he can find his confidence after this loss and get his team back in the win column.
