osens 297
It has been 6 long seasons and Oh Sens is going into the last 7th season of his career. It hasn't been the greatest ever career. He won't be in many record books, who knows he may be even forgotten after a few seasons, but one thing is for sure - Oh Sens had fun and knowing his difficult story, how he came to the league, and what he has done in his short season is really interesting and it will be inspiring for some younger Japan or Asian talents, who thinks that they are not good enough for the big leagues. Sens is one of the most successful Japanese talents and he has inspired a lot of youngsters already.SEASON 72 - MIAMI Oh Sens joined the league in S72 when he came to VHLM with his good old friend Dakota Lamb. Both of them were really unknown and no one knew what to expect from these youngsters, but one team that risked and took a gamble on them was Miami Marauders. General Manager Kris Ricer together with his assistant Big Al risked and, probably, succeeded with back-to-back picks - Oh Sens and Dakota Lamb. Interestingly, both of their personalities were complete opposites. Oh Sens was a bad guy, who was pretty unlucky because everything illegal, controversial, or just something negative came to Sens way. Meanwhile, Lamb is a likable, hard-working, fan-favorite player. A leader. Even then on ice and off the ice they understood each other perfectly and that showed on the ice. Dakota put up 93 points and Oh Sens 61, to push Miami into the playoffs in their first season. The season was full of surprises for Sens because he even got involved in a drug scandal and honestly quite a lot of people thought that he wouldn't make it through the season, but with a great game, great players, and BACON in goal, Marauders went into their playoffs against big favorites - Minnesota. If someone would have said, that Miami would put up a big fight against the league's leaders - Minnesota, a lot of people would have laughed, but in the end, Marauders put up 7 games and they needed just a little more to beat the league leaders to make through playoffs, but in the end Marauders season ended in Round 1, but it showed a lot of good things, that Sens and Lamb are doing really well and they could be a force to reckon with. They were going into the next season as favorites.SEASON 73 - MIAMI This season was great and disappointing at the same time. Oh Sens, Dakota Lamb, and multiple other Marauders players were going in their final VHLM season and stakes were high - last one season to get that cup, that all of the young VHL players want to achieve - winning that first big cup. In the draft Marauders surprisingly drafted a young player from Finland - Patrik Laine. He had a great season in Helsinki and he made his way to Marauders after he was expected to go straight to VHL, but after consulting with his VHL GM decided that it would be better to stay in VHLM for one more season, so he did. Going into the season Marauders were complete favorites, and Sens certainly had a great season - 73 points and +40. That is quite good for him, knowing Sens usually is a really offensive player. The season was great, Marauders were exceptional and they were getting ready for their rematch in the playoffs. Last year they lost in 1st round, so expectations were really high and everyone thought that the Marauders gonna be fighting for the championship, but sadly in reality it didn't happen like that. Not all was bad, Miami won Prime Minister's cup, but Sens couldn't get his Founder's cup to fulfill his VHLM career before going to the big league. Marauders lost to their rivals - Minnesota Storm. The same team that beat them last season, but this time it hurt so much more because it was finals and it was the final season for multiple Marauders players - Sens, Lamb, Stansson, Bacon, and multiple more players. It was one chapter done in Sens career, his VHLM career had ended and it was time to move on to the big league - VHLM. From the left: Laine, Lamb, Sens, Bacon, Stansson.SEASON 74 - HELSINKI Yes, Oh Sens was even a part of Helsinki Titans. He joined the team in the draft, being drafted by the same team that drafted Laine, his teammate last season in Miami. Titans was a strong team and it was pretty understandable that Sens wouldn't get too much of playing time there, but from the start, Sens had a feeling, that Titans were made for Laine more than for Sens, partly maybe because of nationality - Laine is Finnish, and he is playing like at home, but Sens is Japanese youngster and moving to Europe was really hard for him. The team was struggling a little bit, but in the end, Sens together with management decided that a trade would be the right decision for both sides. Oh Sens played 36 games for Helsinki and in those games, he scored only 4 goals, added 7 assists and the main thing was, that he only made 42 shots. He felt unutilized and rightfully so. After those 36 games, Oh Sens got traded across the ocean - he was moving to Toronto Legion.SEASON 74 - TORONTO He moved to the complete opposite team - a team that wasn't struggling, but also a team that Sens could find a better place for himself, and from the start, he certainly did that. In the remaining of the season he played about the same games - 38 games, but the numbers that he put up were so much better than Helsinki. He made 139 shots, scored 18 goals, and made 18 assists. In his first season in Toronto, Sens made playoffs and Legion even made it quite far. Toronto lost in the North American finals against Vancouver Wolves, which later won the cup against Helsinki Titans. It was a great season for Oh Sens and a learning one. Not a lot of rookies get traded to a new team in their rookie season, but Sens was one of them. Toronto Legion GM Peace finding Oh Sens. SEASON 75 - TORONTO This was the first proper season for Oh Sens in Toronto. After coming here in the middle of last season Sens was hungry to show what he really is, and individually he did great, but the team was underwhelming and sadly didn't make playoffs. Oh Sens had 82 points and you can't expect more than that for the second-year player, but Sens was a really ambitious youngster and he really wanted to make playoffs. This season probably will go in history as Merrick season, because that man feasted and Sens got a bit of it too because he was in the same line together with Merrick. A lot of people have called this season the worst season for Sens just by team success, but Oh Sens learned from this season and came back stronger next year with a lot of new teammates, ready to fight for playoffs!SEASON 76 - TORONTO This season was the season of change, the team retooled and acquired new players, that were going to help the team out. One of them was Kristof Welch, one of Sens's good friends, and there was fun drama with Merrick, but everyone knows Merrick is just a little asshole and it was better moving forward without him. Sens had an average season - 74 points and Toronto Legion didn't make the playoffs 2nd season in a row. This time around the team had really good chemistry and new additions to the team were really helping. This year was a learning year for everyone and Sens was one of the most experienced players in the squad, even though he was still pretty young. This team's goal was to just go play and have fun. And they certainly achieved that and were a fun team to see. Sens was criticized for being lazy on the ice rink, but all injuries from early in the career have started to make Sens be slower, but he was still optimistic that he could go on even better than he does right now. Toronto Legion/Social club in the eyes of MerrickSEASON 77 - TORONTO This was the season of the legion and the season for the movement of #WinForRookie, Toronto Legion long-time goalie and always a cool person, who kept a good mood in the locker room. Oh Sens heart issues were starting to become more problematic, but Sens is really ambitious, so he pushed himself and the team a little more than 100%, so Oh Sens put up his best individual season yet - 83 points and Legion made playoffs pretty strongly - 2nd place in North American conference. Could this be the year? Sadly no, the young Toronto Legion team lost against Seattle Bears in Round 2, and another team that made their way to finals and won the cup later. Maybe the key to winning the cup is defeating Toronto in the playoffs? Maybe, but Sens at the end of the series started having really big heart issues, that's why he took a really big break in the off-season, being hopeful, that he could rest his heart and still continue his next season.SEASON 78 - TORONTO This is the new season. Oh Sens has officially confirmed, that he is leaving the league after this season, because of issues with his heart. He wants to have some time with his family and he feels like he doesn't have IT in him anymore. He told the team, out of respect for them and their teammates, he is going to go for one more season, because he loves his teammates just so much. And he wants to win it. He wants to win the Continental team and just winning it with Legion, it would mean so much. Oh Sens season individually has started awfully, 2 points in the 9 games, but that could be mainly because of lack of training camp in the summer. He took few months off, to rest his heart and didn't train much, but the main thing is that team is doing great, 1st place in the North American conference and they are ready to fight for the big one. Sens has told the whole team, that he plans on helping however he could, even cleaning the locker room, just so he could be of use. Right now the team is using him on ice, and it certainly is working, because Legion is doing great, and hopefully is going to win the Continental cup in the end. Oh Sens in Season 78. Oh Sens has been a really interesting player from Japan, he has played in WJC, he has played in playoffs in VHLM and VHL, but one thing that really lacks his career is the championship, so he plans on fighting for it this year, so he could fulfill his career for full 100% and be a great VHL player. No one is calling Sens a bust, because there were certainly worse players that were picked in the Oh Sens draft, but Sens is really angry at himself, that he wasn't more active in the training and didn't invest himself fully, so he could be one of the best players in VHL. Sens's career would have been much worse if he wouldn't have had a lot of really nice teammates or people in his way. Without his first GM - Kris Ricer, he could have been lost in drugs and couldn't have fulfilled his full potential, without great teammates like Dakota Lamb, Kristof Welch he couldn't have scored that many goals, and without GM Peace he would have probably rotten in big Helsinki Titan's offensive depth. In the end, Sens has had a great season and he looks forward to the future - life after hockey. /little bit more than 2000 words/ Thank you for great memories, Sens out! dlamb 1,326
Such a shame we couldn't finish off that S73 Miami season with a championship. Still, a very respectable career for a player from Japan! #OhSens4Eva osens 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/103940-oh-sens-farewell/#findComment-851071 Share on other sites

Seabass 593
FIrst off congratulations on a great career. This media spot went in depth about Oh Sens' career including his VHLM years with the Marauders. I like how detailed you were about his career even adding in how your player went through heart issues that ultimately forced him to retire. I also enjoyed the personal shots at Merrick and made it obvious that Oh Sens didn't enjoy playing with the guy. You also added images to help make this media spot look more clean. 10/10 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/103940-oh-sens-farewell/#findComment-851385 Share on other sites

ROOKIE745 604
Review: It's great to see your previous player getting this much love in a post. Great coverage of his career from season to season while also getting some character into it. Some truly funny pictures in here along with some italics. The color coding of which teams he was with is a great touch, there is honestly nothing here that I could say that could be better, this really is perfect and I'm so glad it's for Oh Sens!! 10/10 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/103940-oh-sens-farewell/#findComment-852802 Share on other sites
