Hello, and welcome to this season's VHLE Awards!

We are a few minutes away from revealing this season's winners, so let's reminisce on a great S87 campaign. With a record-setting season on their belt, the Cologne Express were the favorites coming into the new season. They played as such, keeping themselves on top of the leaderboard throughout the season, only to edge the Oslo Storm in the later part of the season. After faltering during the previous season, the Express didn't let this opportunity slip away and took the victory and the cup in game 7 of the Renaissance Cup Finals.

Florida Man Trophy

Oslo and Cologne. The two best teams in the VHLE last season, and deservingly so the four players in line to receive this award are evenly split from those teams. Could the Express players have the edge because of winning the cup? Can the fight be the big balancing act between the players?

The winner of the Florida Man Trophy, with 8 votes out of the eight cast...

Fred Hampton! Congratulations!

Aldwin Craig Trophy

The award for the top Two-Way Forward is a highly contested one, as achieving unanimity is a challenging task. The reason being, people have differing criteria for what they consider valuable in a player of this caliber. Some prefer a player who exhibits a tenacious and aggressive style of play, even if it leads to a higher PIM number, while others value a more cerebral approach in which a player displays poise and prowess on the ice without sacrificing their fighting spirit.

As for the nominees, it remains to be seen which players fall into which category and whether any clear favorite emerges. However, two players have clearly distinguished themselves for different reasons, but could there be a difference between the two?

The winner of the Aldwin Craig Trophy, and the best two-way Forward in the VHLE...

Spoiler

It is not one, but two winners! With 4 votes each, congratulations to Adeline Delle Donne and Leonard Triller!

Thadius Sales Trophy

A deserving bunch. Every nominee here got a vote from their peers and each has a strong case for winning the Thadius Sales award this season. Leandro and Nathan built the strongest teams in the league, Ron Dayne had to work hard than anyone during the season to elevate that Stockholm team to the 100-point mark, and Jordan Tonn, after losing players to the VHL at the beginning of the season, turned the tide around and rushed to the playoffs as a big underdog.

But there is only one winner of the Thadius Sales Award...

With 4 votes...

Spoiler

It's Nathan Powers! Congratulations on a truly wonderful work last season!

Zef Goncalves got 2 votes, while Ron and Jordan got one each.

Orian D H Chiester IX Trophy

We move on to arguably the most important position in hockey, but one of the hardest to judge. What should one look for in this category? GAA? Well... that includes team performance. Shutouts? Could be luck. Save percentage? That could be an over-simplistic way to judge the net minders' work... Then... how do we choose when selecting the best goalie? Any of the nominees have made their case to win the award, but only one will take it home!

The winner with 4 out of the 8 votes...

Spoiler

Jean Mercier! Congratulations!

Justin Lion got 3 votes and Travis Clark 1.

Jake Thunder Trophy

The world of defensemen is constantly evolving, with modern players showcasing puck-handling abilities that were once the exclusive domain of forwards. However, the art of defending has not been lost, and there are still players who excel in this traditional role. Alongside these more traditional defenders, a new breed has emerged - the hybrid defenseman. These players possess a diverse range of skills and are equally adept at both defending and attacking, making them valuable assets on the ice. Without further ado...

Your winner, with 7 of the 8 votes, is...

Spoiler

Kronchy Kardashian! Congratulations!

Curtis Crumb got the last vote.

Ronan Lavelle Trophy

Last but not least, arguably, the most important award is MVP. History tells us this is an offensive award, but it's important to recognize that a player's overall contribution to the team should also be taken into account. While offensive statistics are certainly an important factor, they don't necessarily tell the full story. A truly valuable player should also demonstrate leadership, teamwork, the ability to make those around them better and make a difference. So while the MVP award may have historically been focused on individual performance, it's important to broaden our perspective and consider the full range of qualities that make a player truly deserving of such recognition.

The winner of the Ronan Lavelle Trophy and MVP of the VHLE...

Spoiler

Sebastien dokis! The Vasteras player edges Kronchy Kardashian in the race for MVP. dokis had 4 votes, Kardashian had 3, and Mercier 1.

Congratulations to the winner!

Congrats to all the winners! Honored to receive the Sales, very unexpected.

I must say that I was expecting to win that one. You were still my vote, though! You deserve it! 🏆

Very excited to pull in an Award!  I will share custody of it but when it is old enough, I hope it chooses me.

You'll have it all to yourself, that's for sure. I'm guessing @Dtayl won't come around to collect. :kekw:
