This is my first Media Spot, so go easy on me. blog-0101523001383788652.thumb.jpg.3cc5a

I’ll be telling to you about my first expressions and thoughts of the Victory Hockey League (VHL).

Let’s start right from the beginning: how did I find this game? I heard about the VHL from one guy at another hockey league called Hockey Dynasty. He mentioned the VHL and I got very interested, and here I am, writing my first media spot.

I’m still new to the VHL, a newbie. I’m not even close to learning all the ropes, but I plan on learning much more. Then, when I opened VHL site for the first time… I thought: ”Damn, this is a so called forum game. He didn’t mention that”. But I got even more interested, more motivation. So this is my first time playing ”a forum hockey game”.

I created an account and started to check things out. Everything was complicated, especially for me because, English is not my first language. Now I have been on VHL for almost a week. I have started to understand a bit more how things work. I believe that, this is not as complicated as it first looked like. But there are many topics and threads still waiting for me to discover them. For now, I have the ”idea” how this works. The amount of instructions is pretty big, it has helped me alot. As far as I understand, it’s pretty much reading and writing. In the end, all important stuff is easily acceptable.

It’s a big plus, that the VHL community is very welcoming and all round nice. For new players, playing without good help from other more experienced players, would be hard. I’ve had a lot help from others. It’s good to know, players in VHL are willing to help and listen to you and your problems and most of the guys are active. ”There’s no such a thing as a stupid question”.

Because english is not my first language, like I said earlier. I will have trouble with not always understanding and explaining in English, but this is also a good chance to learn more English. Also, I will propably have trouble with dealing timezone differences.

In my opinion, VHL’s simulation and player tracking progress could be made more easier. I find it hard to track my player, when I got claimed off waivers, I had no idea about it. Until one good guy told me about it. I think that there could be a notification system that tells you when your player has played a game or got claimed off waivers. Now, I don’t even know where I can find some topics, which could tell you something important. The email notification would solve that problem. Like you get an email notification, when someone sends you an personal message.

VHL has some flaws and pros, but for me, a lot of potential. I’ll propably play VHL for a long time, VHL seems very interesting.

Content: 3/3 - Good article. I have a team over on Hockey Dynasty as well, so it's nice to see someone from there over here. For somebody with supposed bad English, your writing is pretty good. I hope you have a good time here. The timezone difference shouldn't be an issue as long as you stay active and reply to any questions that people ask you.

Grammar: 2/2 - Not too much to see here. I went a little easy on you as it's your first time. There's some little things that I probably could have nit-picked at, but it's really nothing.

"I’ll be telling to you about" - talking to you, not telling.

"Also, I will propably" - probably.

Appearance: 1/1 - It looks fine.

Overall: 6/6
