Immediately following the conclusion of the Season 40 VHL Draft, the user .sniffuM, who was in charge of the Draft Rankings at the time, made a table tracking the TPE of all of the players selected first overall in VHL history . I was a big fan of the article and, as a first overall pick myself, I was curious to see how I currently ranked against other first overall picks. So I've decided to update it and the current table stands like so:

Things of Note:

- It's fairly obvious looking at this that O'Malley (who will likely have 2 1/2 seasons of TPE earning to go) will overtake Ethan Osbourne for most TPE earned by a number one overall pick. The question to ask though is how long can he keep at the top? Bismarck Koenig, who will have about 4 1/2 seasons left of TPE earning should his career last the full eight seasons, is at least looking in contention to break Osbourne's current record. Reencarnacion is also holding a good pace at the minute but it's far too early to suggest how high he can climb up the rankings.

- Depending on his career plans, Mikaelson is in contention of overtaking Daisuke Kanou for most TPE earned by a goalie taken first overall. He's currently less than 200 TPE behind Kanou, something that would be achievable if Mikaelson were to last another two seasons.

- Despite evidence of TPE inflation, it didn't seem to much help players drafted between Seasons 31-40, as six of the ten players drafted first overall in that decade occupy the bottom half of this list,. That's the same amount as the S11-S20 decade and more than any of the other decades.

- If Greg Clegane or Phil Hamilton are drafted first overall, they will enter the standings third from bottom.

overall not too many busts.

i'd say everybody from svoboda down (except delicious) busted.

Sharpe was the best, don't know what you're talking about.

It is really sad to know he was actually the lowest. I kinda figured with everything that happened but wasn't actually sure.

I don't know if you would have been much higher without that, given how short of a career he had. We also had everyone starting from 0 TPE.

To be fair, I did have a short career BECAUSE of the ban. Had the playing field been level the entire time I might have stayed with Sharpe longer. However, as it was, I was a season behind every other goalie in the league with no possibility of ever catching up. That's not exactly incentive to stick around.

Not that I'm trying to defend myself or make excuses. I totally do have the lowest TPE of any 1st overall ever (and with people being drafted higher than that, I'm sure it'll stay that way).
