A Decade - Blue

Our little league is quickly approaching the decade milestone. That's 10 years of players and the members that controlled them. I mean 10 years, that's longer than Instagram and was created and it was the time when Facebook and twitter were just getting off the ground on the internet. Unfortunately we have not seen as much growth as those websites over the last decade, but fortunate for us we have a strong community that really shouldn't be that surprised we made it to ten years of VHL. When you think of the internet as it is today, we have been on the world wide web for a major percentage of the overall time the internet has existed. From the Invisionfree forum that was home to the VHL from 2007-2011 to the SMF forum that hosted the VHL from 2011-2013 and finally to our current home on IPB since 2013, our forum has evolved over the past 10 years. We will continue to evolve this year too as new features will be added to the forum to make the user experience more friendly.

As of right now we are at about 9 years and 9 months so the milestone is certainly in reach, and at this point I can actually envision the league reaching 2020. Of course there will be challenges presented before us, whether they are BOG changes or unplanned changes, such as the switch from SMF to IPB. At the core of the league over all this time has been the commissioners, more commonly refereed to as the Blue Team. The commissioners are supposed to have the leagues best interests in mind at all times, and as the league has grown the changes have been discussed with the board of governors and the overall member base to ensure this. Having some head figures is important for the league though to have someone to represent the entire VHL community. That's essentially what the Blue Team is, a group that represents all the members of the VHL and the best interests of the members, site, sim and community as a whole. When it comes down to it, the VHL is only possible with everyone's commitment to the VHL, there's no one or two people that make the league go round. That is evident as we have seen many changes in VHL leadership over the past 10 years, yet we still move forward as strong as ever.

It's weird to think that Higgins will be taking my longevity record next season. Almost as weird as it is to think that I have the longevity record.
