We could try and bring back Top Leader award and name it The Annual @Phil Award.

Personally I don't like fighting in hockey, but I understand why it's there. I hope there will be less of it in the future, doesn't need to be fully phased out of the sport though

6. The Stanley Cup playoffs have begun! Which team has impressed you most thus far?

McDavid, 5 assists in the first game of Oilers playoffs. For a team it's too early to say imo

The Ray Bourque Trophy.  Player who wins the most fights

 

5. Regarding fighting in hockey, do you believe it is a staple of the sport? Or is it something that should be phased out of the game entirely?

 

Ouch.  You serious?  Whoever is suggesting that fighting be phased out is not a hockey player.  You cannot participate in playoff hockey without hitting hard and that sometimes flares up into a fight.  Now, the fighters can decide how hard to punch.  

 

6. The Stanley Cup playoffs have begun! Which team has impressed you most thus far?

 

It’s easier for me to tell you which team has not impressed me.  That would be the Bruins, my team.  They cannot maintain 60 minutes of playoff hockey.  I thought Big Rig would help motivate them, but thus far, they soften up too soon.

 

7. In terms of playstyle and build, which NHL player is yours most similar to?

 

Radko Gudas.  Love that Gudas hip check!!

 

8. Since this debate has flared up again recently: is a hot dog a sandwich?

 

It can be when it’s called a polish sandwich, ie. the hotdog is split in half and placed on two slices of bread with pickles mustard ketchup and onion.  Other than that, no.  Especially when a hot dog is cut up and put in spaghettiios.  Oh, now I’m hungry.

I've still got Toronto. Europe is going to be a slog to get through, and the Legion have had such a strong team from day one.

Oh captain my captain! And assistant captain! And other assistant captain! Here's to hoping it continues next season when I'm also up.

 

3. What do you believe we can learn from this season that we can carry onto the next? Any bold predictions or suggestions?

To be honest? Not really. There's going to largely be a new roster next season, so while it's been great to get a few wins, I think a lot of the game planning will start from square one.

 

4. If you had a chance to add a new award to the VHL, what would it be and what would you name it?

You say people don't build players with fighting? Then let's change that - most fights won now gets an award. We're calling it the Rocky Award until we get a good VHL legend to name it after.

 

5. Regarding fighting in hockey, do you believe it is a staple of the sport? Or is it something that should be phased out of the game entirely?

I swear I didn't see this question before answering the last one. Honestly, the reason that a lot of people play sports is to get some aggression out. As long as it's not causing lasting injuries, then yeah, let them have at it.

 

8. Since this debate has flared up again recently: is a hot dog a sandwich?

People focus too much on this question and not the alternative: I think every ham sandwich should be called a hot dog. Think about it - contains a pig-based meat, you typically want to eat it with condiments for flavor, comes within some sort of bun. Real geniuses have been saying this.

1. Will DAVID be a contender again next season?!

I think we've got a shot, though perhaps from attrition from other teams as much as anything. I do believe there's a large element of randomness in the VHL Playoffs, so especially if you're a top three seed in the conference you've got as much a shot as anyone else.

 

2. Now that we are deep into the Continental Cup playoffs, which team do you believe looks the strongest?

I was very curious how Europe would shake out, and I think London's looking very good. A strong goalie goes a long way, and Teno has the chance to go out with a bang.

 

3. Do you believe the regular season should be adjusted in any way in terms of amount of games (lengthened or shortened)? Or is 72 just the sweet spot?

72 games works well by me, but that's also partially because I like continuity in record-keeping. I don't think the sim season's too long on my end.

 

4. What was your player’s best stat this season?

I'm really happy how well Bucatini has developed as a playmaker. She was pretty much exclusively a scorer in the M, so having 48 assists in the regular season (and 6 so far in the playoffs!) makes me happy.

 

5. The Stanley Cup playoffs are also heating up! Was there a series outcome in particular that surprised you?

(Writing this from the future) Man, it was crazy how the Leafs came back to force a Game 7, took a two goal lead in the game, then blew it again. Never thought that would happen against the Bruins.

 

6. Other than hockey, what other sports do you enjoy watching?

Big fan of basketball, have season tickets to the local soccer team, and watch my fair share of college football as well. I'm a bit all over the place, but that's not a bad thing.

1. I think you have a chance for a playoff spot but i think your still another season away from true cup contention 

 

2. I think London has the advantage over Seattle but should be a very close series 

 

3. I think 72 is just right as it keeps the season fresh enough without feeling like a drag 

 

4. I was disappointed in my personal season but I scored a OT winner in a finals game so I’ll hang my hat on that

1. I think there's a shot of making the playoffs, but I don't think the expectations will be high.

It's actually an interesting question - does Davos want to be competitive? I could say sell the farm, but I think a momentary hit for longer-term success makes more sense.

Absolutely spectacular, honestly couldn't have asked for any more. Especially with the title and Bucatini's playoff performance, I'm very happy.

Right now, I know there might be high expectations, but I want to mold to the players around me. If I can help players like MacEvoy, Walker and Content be the best they can be, then I'm happy.

I know they're about to retire, but it's tough to pick anyone other than Teno. Just so clutch, and may very well pick up another title tonight.

 

6. How did you find out about the existence of the VHL?

It was a long, long time ago now, but the VHL was an affiliate of an old football league I used to be a part of. Shared some of the same leadership too. Happy that this place is somehow still going.

 

7. Thoughts on this year’s NHL draft lottery? 

I'm not a Blackhawks fan per se, but I've got some affinity for them after living in Chicago during the Toews/Kane era. It would have been very funny to see them get another #1 pick, but props to San Jose for having something good happen, I suppose.

1. I think team-wide depth, just getting better everywhere and the kids will develop

2. I like to think I had a good season in the E. Front runner for MVP and playoff MVP, and a cup to finish it off

3. I'd like to see myself get some time and just continue to earn TPE and develop. I don't see myself as VHL starter material yet but one day I'll hopefully get there

For real the team have so much good prospects that I think the only thing the team is missing is a stellar goalie.

 

2. How would you reflect on your player’s season individually? Is there anything you would’ve wanted to improve on or see from them?

It was the last season of my player so I didn't expect a big offensive production, and 47 points is not that bad. Can't really improve something at this point haha! 

 

4. Did you sign up for the ProAm tournament this offseason?

Humm not yet, don't know if I will. IF you need a dman let me know.

 

5. In a Game 7 shootout situation, which active VHL starting goalie would you want in net for you?

Related to question 1, Lachlan Summers is still amazing and even it will be his last season, I trust him at 100% to be my goalie to win the game.

 

7. Thoughts on this year’s NHL draft lottery? 

No change in the order for the first time since like 2016? Good for the Sharks, let's see if Chicago will pick Demidov to play with Bedard.

 

8. Have you ever met a professional athlete before? If so, who was it?

I've met some hockey players to get their autograph, all of them were really nice person. They are a bit bigger in person too haha!

I was happy with it, I contributed at just under a point per game which could easily have been more depending on who I played with. Ended in a cup win so it was really as good as it gets.

Crashing press conference for the 2 TPE

Grimgor Ironhide for one.  Cant go wrong there.  I’m sure there will be more blockbuster moves before Alex is done.

 

2. We have just acquired some big names in Grimgor Ironhide and Sadie St-Louis! Thoughts on our new acquisitions and how they’ll help bolster our roster? 

 

Davos might be a contender given the number of moves that has been going on.

 

3. What attribute will you focus on the most this upcoming season?

 

Defense is the priority this season and the other attributes will be boosted as defense bumps up.

 

4. What is your player’s jersey number?

 

22 is my all time favorite jersey number.

 

5. If someone asked you to describe the VHL in one word, what would it be?

 

Virtual. (I’d say more but I’m only allowed one word to answer this question)

 

6. Do you believe anything has to be added to the offseason to make it more engaging for members?

 

Easy uncapped TPE, but there are a lot of things going on anyway.  

 

7. Of the remaining NHL teams, which two do you believe will make it to the Cup final?

 

New York and Edmonton, even though I’d like to see Boston.

PC. Used to be a playstation console kid. But it changed when I got my first desktop PC. so PC > PS > suckbox.

1. I know a lot of talk has been about Seattle and Moscow, but I'm very interested to see how the Vancouver Dragons look next season. It's interesting just soon ago they were rebuilding and now they're real contenders.

 

2. I mean there's a chance they're our two best players right away. And that's huge, I think there's a chance they both put up huge stats this year.

 

3. There's a lot for me to train coming up from the VHLE. So I think it's a bit of everything, but I'm really excited to be a playmaker, get my skating and puck handling up to be a force on the ice.

 

4. I'm number 77. Because you see, when you have a name like Bucatini, you need something that looks like noodles, and that fits.

 

5. Fun. Simple, but that's what this is supposed to be right? If you're not having fun, why are you here?

 

8. I'm the weird person who goes back and forth, but right now I'm XBox. I don't have as much time to game these days, so Game Pass to give me variety is a lifesaver.

1. The Sadie trade (?) was huge, I really like bringing them into our LR and helping reinforce the roster

3. I don't really focus on certain attributes, just being a complete goalie

4. #1, just a good goalie number I think

6. Honestly I like the offseason as it is. More tournaments would feel gimmicky and it's nice for everyone to unwind after the season

7. I could honestly see any of the 4 teams in the west making it, for the east I'd say NYR

8. I have all 3, but I'd say PC and then PS5
