Moscow Menace Press Conference

Recommended Posts

1)      It feels great to win the cup in my first season in VHL. I am happy for the organization

2)      I feel you drank milk out of the cup

3)      I feel that you’re only as good as your defense, and a defense that can also score helps. It’s a complete team package.

4)      I will show it off to all my friends and family.

5)      I feel we have a good shot; we just have to make it to playoffs like we did this year.

6)      Good luck to you in future endeavors and kick butt (except vs the Moscow Menace)

New week new questions!

1. First week of the new season is here! How're you feeling going into the season? Well rested? Not rested enough after a deep playoff run?

2. Who do you think will be the X-factor player this season for the team to have success?

3. We have two rookies joining the team this season, Maverick Goncalves and Jillian Woods. Any words of advice for the youngsters?

4. How did your offseason training go? Was there anything in specific you worked on?

5. Recruitment is always an important topic. What would you do to bring recruits in to the league?

6. I listened to a song for 5 hours in the last 24 hours. What song could you do that with?

1. I always love any extra chance to grab more TPE, so I am always disappointed when the offseason ends, but I'm also really excited to do the thing I'm earning TPE for!

2. I think the defense needs to be good enough by committee, but I think @leandrofg will be the difference between our forward group winning us games or not, no pressure buddy!

3. My advice to myself is to remember the long game and the short game. Getting attributes now helps, but I need to remember to give myself some easy treats down the line as well. My advice to Maverick is to score some damn goals!

4. This offseason was all about making sure my foundation was ready to be a VHL defender. Skating, Puck Handling, and most importantly Defense. I may lag a bit at first offensively, but I needed to make sure if I was giving up something, it was offense, not defense.

5. I've always had the idea of trying to get college/university clubs or writing groups into it. That demographic tends to be our strongest for leadership and commitment, and it's something we're sorely lacking right now. If we could help them fund their club, or contribute to their snack budget, it would be awesome to be a platform where we can cross over the love for sports and writing. Or we should put some money into someone making a hockey TTRPG, since a huge chunk of the active userbase participates in that hobby as well. A well timed anime, although not necessarily a recruitment effort by us, would probably give us a bump as well.

6. I've definitely done that with some songs I'm not proud of to study for exams. Too many TikTok songs that now make me want to vomit thinking of them. There are a few songs that have been my go-tos on my short jaunts around town which makes up most of my listening these days. 8am in Charlotte by Drake (not a Drake fan) is one of them, the Conductor beat just plays in my head all day. Sexy to Someone by Clairo and Take a Bite by beabadoobee are probably my favourite songs of the year so far.

Rested enough to be hungry for a second championship.

2. Who do you think will be the X-factor player this season for the team to have success?

One of our defenseman will have to step up after the loss of Reingaard

3. We have two rookies joining the team this season, Maverick Goncalves and Jillian Woods. Any words of advice for the youngsters?

They are two absolute studs, they don't need advice.

4. How did your offseason training go? Was there anything in specific you worked on?

At this point it seems so difficult to get better, but mainly defence and skating.

5. Recruitment is always an important topic. What would you do to bring recruits in to the league?

I gave all I had to grow this league, not energy left for ideas.

6. I listened to a song for 5 hours in the last 24 hours. What song could you do that with?

Coloratura - Coldplay.

1. First week of the new season is here! How're you feeling going into the season? Well rested? Not rested enough after a deep playoff run?

I feel heavily rested,  I came into the training camp with the mindset that the real training camp starts when the regular season starts.  It could be a good idea to save energy for the real regular season, which is the playoffs, but at least right now I feel good.

2. Who do you think will be the X-factor player this season for the team to have success?

I will say Syko, they will have a killer year stealing games on their own.

3. We have two rookies joining the team this season, Maverick Goncalves and Jillian Woods. Any words of advice for the youngsters?

I have said it before and I will say it again - we need hits and fights to be a real Menace on the ice. I think any extra TPE you may have should be added to fighting and checking.

4. How did your offseason training go? Was there anything in specific you worked on?

I have been just resting with my updating - thrown the TPE to bank so far. Going to wait and see if the solid world cup performance carries over to VHL regular season.

5. Recruitment is always an important topic. What would you do to bring recruits in to the league?

Reach out to various OnlyFans models and offer them a opportunity to promote their content here if they in return promote VHL in their platforms.

6. I listened to a song for 5 hours in the last 24 hours. What song could you do that with?

Eddie Rabbitt I Love A Rainy Night

Presser for the new week!

1. The season has started and we're a few sims in! How would you assess our performance out of the starting gates?

2. What do you think should be our main area of focus in for improvement?

3. Are you surprised by how any of the VHL conference standings look? Which team has surprised you the most?

4. We have MOS, CGY, LA and WAR 1st round picks this season. Which one do you think will end up being highest by season end, and why?

5. David Rashford @Knight was named our captain for S95, and has had a fantastic start to the season with 20 points in 11 games. What do you think drives him to be such a strong leader by example?

6. Wrong answers only - what activities should I participate in when I go on my cruise to Alaska at the end of this week?

1. The season has started and we're a few sims in! How would you assess our performance out of the starting gates?

Solid start is what I say!  We have won nice chunk of games and lost few too of course, but when taking into consideration the amount of changes in the roster during off-season - the start has been solid.

2. What do you think should be our main area of focus in for improvement?

The golden showers heads in the locker room are too low, I need to bend my knees to get my hair washed properly.

3. Are you surprised by how any of the VHL conference standings look? Which team has surprised you the most?

NA division being so close still is bit of a surprise, going to be heck of a playoff battle if things go like this, we might see some dramatic trades too as teams  go for it or chicken out of the race.

4. We have MOS, CGY, LA and WAR 1st round picks this season. Which one do you think will end up being highest by season end, and why?

Too early to say, LA perhaps since their powerplay is among the worst in the league, gotta have solid special teams to have a solid year.

5. David Rashford was named our captain for S95, and has had a fantastic start to the season with 20 points in 11 games. What do you think drives him to be such a strong leader by example?

I have seen him stare himself down from the mirror numerous times as he confidently whispers: "I wish others were like me". I think it is the confidence in his abilities as a player that sets him apart.

6. Wrong answers only - what activities should I participate in when I go on my cruise to Alaska at the end of this week?

Find a experienced female,  ask her to dance with you and in return you will let her make one trade for Moscow Menace.

2. The goaltender!!

3. Go out there and have fun!

4. Being a better fighter.

5. I'm not sure, just put more ads out there?

6. Bring me to life

Presser while I cruise

1. Where should management treat the players on an all-expenses paid vacation to after a cup win?

2. I have no clue how sims are going, recap them for me please!!

3. How is @jacobcarson877 doing as AGM in my absence?

4. Be honest, should I just fade into the shadows and let Jacob replace me permanently?

5. How's your player doing after a fair bit into the season?

6. Deadpool and Wolverine was a solid summer movie. Have you seen any movies this summer, or have any you want to watch?

1. Rome I think! Lots of yummy treats, an up and coming hockey club and a great history!

2. Splitting against Davos, winning against most other teams?

3. Pretty mid tbh I've done nothing but put Reed in for a couple of backup games.

4. Considering I'm currently GMing elsewhere, I'm sure that can't be the best idea. But I am feeling the GMing itch pretty hard!

5. Alright I guess? TPE is coming in so slowly at this point, I've either been banking for the next league or banking for depreciation for most of the last year so it's weird to be building week to week again.

6. I have seen 0 movies this summer, and honestly I'm not missing them much. I've got a big enough backlog to catch up on, I'll be fine.

1. Where should management treat the players on an all-expenses paid vacation to after a cup win?

Somewhere sunny and warm - Miami! I want to pretend I am a Miami Vice police officer

2. I have no clue how sims are going, recap them for me please!!

Pretty good I'd say, getting wins and even the close games turning into our wins, so that is nice.

3. How is @jacobcarson877 doing as AGM in my absence?

Doing good! Moscow is first in the league, granted,  I can not say is it because good AGMing or you being away, but whatever it is I hope more of the same!

4. Be honest, should I just fade into the shadows and let Jacob replace me permanently?

Maybe not to shadows, but longer cruises certainly.

5. How's your player doing after a fair bit into the season?

Overall rather well, I am getting on the scoresheet, even got some fights! I am also happy I have been able to collect a lot of points on PP, that is a good sign.

6. Deadpool and Wolverine was a solid summer movie. Have you seen any movies this summer, or have any you want to watch?

I watched the movie Nobody, that was a entertaining one.

1. Hawaii?

2. Your on a nine game win streak!!

3. I will say great even though I'm not in the LR.

4. Hell no man, I'd miss you even though I'm not on the team.

5. Pretty good after a slow start, he's got 14 goals and 26 points, leading the league in hits and PIM currently, six game winners too.

6. I did not watch it, the only movie I've gone to watch this year was the Hunger Games one, was decent imo.

Last Sunday the general manager spoke to the media, quote: "...I read a couple books on our balcony in some pleasant weather..."

1.  While keeping in mind the general manager's taste for luxury -  how likely it is that they had someone read the books for them?
2.  A couple books sounds like a lot for a relatively short trip, unless the books were mostly books with pictures, did the books have pictures - how do you see it?
3. What books do you think the general manager was "reading"?
4. When considering the setting; "reading" on a balcony of a cruise ship, do you think the general manager was wearing any clothes?
5.  Notice how the general manager said "our balcony",  while keeping in mind the general manager's excessive need to hoard first-round picks, do you think they were able to share a balcony with someone?
6.  The weather was described as pleasant, but at least I am not able to avoid hearing a tone of slight disappointment, do you think the general manager missed the weather back home in Moscow or what could have caused the assumed slight disappointment?

1. Moscow Menace is currently first in VHL when 7 games are left to be played, can we keep our position and finish first?

2. Which NA team would you like to meet in the finals?

3. Is Moscow a "1-line team"?

4. At the moment we have 7 players with 100 or more hits, that means we have 2nd most hits in the league, but when it comes to penalty minutes are ranked 11th. Are you worried the physicality can bite our ass in the playoffs?

5.   When looking at the "individual leaders" statistics around the league, what number/statistic impresses you the most?

6.  If and when we win the championship again this year - should we all demand more money even if it means one of us could have to be traded to make it happen?

1. I'll say yes!!

2. Vancouver, to see you guys beat them in the final

3. If your top of the league, then no.

4. Nah I think you guys will be fine

5. My player's own hits, it's great to see

6. If ya wanna keep winning, than no.

1. Moscow Menace is currently first in VHL when 7 games are left to be played, can we keep our position and finish first?

Absolutely, we have the talent to do so.

2. Which NA team would you like to meet in the finals?

Toronto Legion - gotta beat the best to be the best.

3. Is Moscow a "1-line team"?

Definitely not. While the 1st line is very productive you need two great lines to win a championship and that's what we have.

4. At the moment we have 7 players with 100 or more hits, that means we have 2nd most hits in the league, but when it comes to penalty minutes are ranked 11th. Are you worried the physicality can bite our ass in the playoffs?

A little bit, but it seems like we're not crossing the line too much.

5.   When looking at the "individual leaders" statistics around the league, what number/statistic impresses you the most?

While it may seem conceited, I never ever thought Rashford would be a 100 point player, let alone being tied for the league lead in points this late into the season.

6.  If and when we win the championship again this year - should we all demand more money even if it means one of us could have to be traded to make it happen?

Never. Cups before bucks.

1. Moscow plays against Davos in the playoffs,  in the regular season we played them six times - we won three of the games: are you expecting a tight series?

2.  Grimgor Ironhide played for Moscow couple seasons ago, now they are in Davos, do you think they have what it takes to cause us trouble on the ice?

3.  Three of Davos players are going to retire after the ongoing season, only one player from Moscow has announced they are going to retire, do you think sometihng like that can give advantage for Davos?

4.  In the playoffs a good team has a player or two who might not score as much during regular season, but  somehow manage to score important goals when needed the most in the playoffs, who is going to be that player or those players for Moscow this year?

5.  First two games of the series against Davos are played home in Moscow, is that a good or bad thing when keeping in mind Moscow was the best away team during regular season?

6.  Is Moscow going to break the regular season championship curse and win the cup?

Should be a tight series. Davos are a good team and we've struggled against them.

2.  Grimgor Ironhide played for Moscow couple seasons ago, now they are in Davos, do you think they have what it takes to cause us trouble on the ice?

Of course, a very talented player. We'll have to shut him down if we want a chance.

3.  Three of Davos players are going to retire after the ongoing season, only one player from Moscow has announced they are going to retire, do you think something like that can give advantage for Davos?

We're too hungry as a group to let them want it more.

4.  In the playoffs a good team has a player or two who might not score as much during regular season, but  somehow manage to score important goals when needed the most in the playoffs, who is going to be that player or those players for Moscow this year?

George Richmond @badcolethetitan. He's been grinding his ass off and these playoffs are going to be what really spur him into the group of elite players in this league.

5.  First two games of the series against Davos are played home in Moscow, is that a good or bad thing when keeping in mind Moscow was the best away team during regular season?

Makes no difference - we'll win home or away.

6.  Is Moscow going to break the regular season championship curse and win the cup?

Absolutely. We want another cup.

1. I'm expecting a very tight series, lots of 3-2 games, could go either way!

2. When I think of Ironhide, I think of trouble. I think that's exactly what they want me to think anyways.

3. There is something about one final stand that has some pretty powerful karma. But overall, we're both young rosters, so the vets will have to bring the maturity.

4. Definitely no slouch in the regular season, but I feel like Maverick is going to lead us in goals this playoffs after some huge growth through the season.

5. We've got to win these games at home if we want to feel secure in the series. I know they can win in their barn, so we have to match them there.

6. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't bet on any team winning any season from any position. Anything goes!

Since we don't have any active questions, I went back to the first ever Moscow Menace press conference and I'll try to answer those questions

1. With a new season comes hope! What are your expectations for the 66th season of the VHL.

Well it's no longer S66 but the new season comes with hope of avenging our early round playoff exit this season with another cup.

2. What is a personal goal you'd like to achieve this year?

I have nothing left to prove with Rashford. Would love to see him keep climbing the Moscow historical leaderboards and would love to finish my career with an above average point per game.

3. What is a team goal you'd like to see the boys accomplish?

Win the cup. I think that's what we're all here for.

4. Share an experience you've had with the folks from Moscow, what are some similarities and differences?

I'm generally pretty quiet in the locker room and with the boys, but they always seem to be chatting and having a great time. It's an awesome vibe of a locker room which hasn't always been the case.

5. If your new to the team, what excited you the most when you were drafted/traded or signed to Moscow? If you're not new, is there someone who's new to the squad you're interested in playing with?

We'll see how the squad looks come day one of sims. Will be awesome to see some of the progression of our rookies and see players like Richmond make the jump to superstardom.

6. If you could pick a goal song for the Menace, what would it be and why?

"Another One" - nuff said.

1. Moscow did not make it into the finals this year - why do you think that is?

2. Our friendly rivals Riga won the championship, how do you feel about Riga winning?

3. It appears there is bit of cycle going on, EU teams have now won the championship twice in row, before that NA teams won 3 in row, before that EU teams won 3 in row, does this mean EU team will win next year again before dark times come for EU teams?

4.  Moscow has 3 picks in the first round, what kind of players is Moscow looking to draft? (what position for example?)

5.  Can Moscow keep the current roster together or are we once going to see a off-season full of moves?

6.  When looking purely at TPE, in the top-10 for the upcoming draft only 3 forwards are ranked in the top-10, for next year same number is at 2, is VHL heading towards ultra low-scoring due to so many of the elite prospects playing in defensive positions?

1. Moscow did not make it into the finals this year - why do you think that is?

Just got very unlucky, sometimes that happens. We had the talent to repeat.

2. Our friendly rivals Riga won the championship, how do you feel about Riga winning?

I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

3. It appears there is bit of cycle going on, EU teams have now won the championship twice in row, before that NA teams won 3 in row, before that EU teams won 3 in row, does this mean EU team will win next year again before dark times come for EU teams?

Of course, it means Moscow will win again next season. We'll break the curse by making it four straight for the EU when we win the following year as well.

4.  Moscow has 3 picks in the first round, what kind of players is Moscow looking to draft? (what position for example?)

Probably have to look at a C, LW, and D to think about the long-term replacements of Ruutu, Rashford, and Bocage.

5.  Can Moscow keep the current roster together or are we once going to see a off-season full of moves?

I believe we can keep the core together. We should aim to - proved to be arguably the best team in the league.

6.  When looking purely at TPE, in the top-10 for the upcoming draft only 3 forwards are ranked in the top-10, for next year same number is at 2, is VHL heading towards ultra low-scoring due to so many of the elite prospects playing in defensive positions?

Yeah we're about to enter era of the goalie.

1. Moscow did not make it into the finals this year - why do you think that is?

Offense dried up a fair bit I suppose. Hard to blame really any area of our game since they were all really close games, with 3 in OT. Sometimes the coin flips onto tails four times in a row, despite how unlikely it is.

2. Our friendly rivals Riga won the championship, how do you feel about Riga winning?

I mean, if it wasn't us, it was gonna be them. Really the 2nd best team on paper behind Moscow, so it makes sense that they'd be able to put together a run.

3. It appears there is bit of cycle going on, EU teams have now won the championship twice in row, before that NA teams won 3 in row, before that EU teams won 3 in row, does this mean EU team will win next year again before dark times come for EU teams.

Looking at the rosters, I'd say the EU has at least a couple more seasons I their favor. The only really threatening team in the NA is Vancouver.

4. Moscow has 3 picks in the first round, what kind of players is Moscow looking to draft? (what position for example?)

We're kind of in a position to just go Best Player Available. First round of regression won't hit that hard. I guess I'd have to say look at wingers. Defense and centers should be solid for a fair bit, whereas it seems we always end up needing to upgrade the wings every season.

5. Can Moscow keep the current roster together or are we once going to see a off-season full of moves?

The only piece that won't really be able to fit will be Syko. I think Reed is more than capable of holding down the starter role, and I suppose he'll have to be since we also need to add a winger to flesh out the roster.

6. When looking purely at TPE, in the top-10 for the upcoming draft only 3 forwards are ranked in the top-10, for next year same number is at 2, is VHL heading towards ultra low-scoring due to so many of the elite prospects playing in defensive positions?

It really just makes those forwards all the more valuable. Defensemen can and have chipped in on the offensive side of the puck so, league-wise, I don't think there'll be too much of an impact there.

1. Just got out played sadly

2. Pretty sure it's been a while since they won a championship so pretty happy for them.

3. I'm all in for cycles like this so I'll say yes haha

4. The team sees pretty well set, a blue liner would be my pick.

5. Maybe a move or two but I think you guys will be fine.

6. Possibly, my question is how offensive minded are those blue liners? It could stay the same or go up.

1.  Moscow now has two "Goncalves" players in the roster,  what does it all mean; is this the end of times? Start of the golden era? Did Moscow eat both the blue and the red pill?

2.  In the draft Moscow selected the whole management team of Davos, elite players and prospects, but just what kind of thoughts ran through your mind when you heard the draft results?

3.  How much money you have in your player store? If you have little something - what are you planning on doing with it?
