Telkster 550
The Final Hammer The Menace made a quick attempt to try and lengthen out this previously contending team. During the draft this past spring, Moscow traded their later picks for earlier picks, as well as some prospects too. In my opinion, it was a trade with very little risk. In a perfect world, the remaining Moscow core at the time would hold the fort a couple more years before the prospects step up to help out. When your core can't make a push to the playoffs, its time to sell. Seeing Jet and Killy go was a really tough thing for the team to swallow. Everyone knew it had to be done for the future of the team. It's one of those deals that ends up shocking you when you shouldn't really be shocked at all. A couple of days after the Jet deal went down, Tocco was shipped off too. Nate Telker commented on having to say goodbye to his longtime teammates. "It's really different here now, all those guys taught me and helped me out when I was a rookie. We won a cup together, it really hurts to see it happen, but now I need to help out the young guys and teach them" said Telker. I think Victor wouldn't have changed those trades during the draft if he had known about the future either way. Those prospects and draft picks that came a Christmas or 2 early will just help shave a year or 2 off of the rebuild. A Big Off-season Upcoming Moscow regained their S73 1st round draft pick when the Jet trade happened, and that could be a very key pick. Moscow is sitting in the final playoff spot in the EU with Malmo and Prague very close behind them. The top 4 ranked players in the upcoming S73 draft all look like future studs (Frostbeard, Walker, Tonn, Adrienne), but getting one of those players might be a challenge when it looks like a 6 team race for the bottom 4 spots if you wanna look at it that way. Moscow holds their 2nd and 4th round picks as well in the draft, while not having their 3rd. The New Kids On The Block While we can't yet know what that juicy 1st round pick is going to end up being for the Menace, we can certainly take a look at some of the newcomers in Moscow! Derek Eriksson was drafted 14th overall in S70 and was acquired in the Jet deal. He is off to a modest start in S72 with 13 points in 32 games. In the same deal, Micheal Hall was also brought in by the Menace. Hall is a PPG in the VHLM and looks like he could turn out to be a 3rd round steal if he can keep racking up tpe. Kazimir Komarov is a massive LW sitting at 6'8, and was acquired in the Tocco deal. Did I mention he is averaging more then 2 PPG in the VHLM? Ryo Yamazuki II was the second piece coming back in the Tocco deal. Drafted just 1 spot behind Telker in S68, Yamazuki is off to a solid start with 23 points in 35 games.
