Phantoms Stay in Playoff Hunt with 5-Game Win Streak

 

The Prague Phantoms are still on the fringe of the VHL playoff race chasing the likes of the HC Davos Dynamo and Helsinki Titans, the new home of former Prague stalwart Seabass Perrin. They recently strung together a season-high five game win streak which helped keep them in the hunt. During the streak, they posted regulation wins against Vancouver, Seattle, Warsaw, Riga, and Calgary outscoring them collectively by margin of 22-10.

 

The streak showcased the Phantoms burgeoning depth as 10 different players scored during the streak and 12 players registered at least one point. The Phantoms were led by Slovakian sniper Ondrej Ohradka who scored four times and added six assists during the five games with two goals coming on the power play and one being the game-winner against the Wranglers, his former team. He was one of two Phantoms to grab at least a point in all five games and he registered multiple points in four of them. Also contributing four goals were S73 Phantoms MVP Gary Tarantino and current Prague scoring leader Dagmar Havlova who also got on the scoresheet each game. Both Tarantino and Havlova scored once on the power play and the latter scored two of the game-winners. Thomas Landry II chipped in seven points and Cinnamon Block led the blueline with six points, all assists. The “Phirst Year” Phantoms also were a big part of the streak as Dan Baillie Jr and Riley Knight Gee each had five points and John LeClair II chipped in three.

 

Sophomore netminder Woody McPine provided Prague with the best stretch of goaltending of his young career as he went 5-0 with one shutout, an astounding 0.952 save percentage and 2.00 goals against.
