  1. If you guys get a list of willing volunteers we can certainly work from there.
  2. I have mixed feelings right now.
  3. Wow I don't remember ever seeing the sim give first star just for 10 hits, it's evolving!
  4. Good lord - goalies hello?
  5. The king of all fishers.
  6. Nice third period guys.
  7. Lavar Ball and Matt Thompson Right back at ya @CowboyinAmerica
  8. Yeah so what we did in the 9 TPE cap days is a mag writer earned 7 in place of a PT, while the editor got 8. I reckon those could be uplifted to 8 and 9 a week respectively with the current cap but that's just my opinion. Definitely would be paid though.
  9. Honestly if anyone in this draft is willing to organise I'd be happy to help set it up in terms of permissions and shiz (in my unofficial official capacity as idea generator with disproportionate powers compared to current standing in the league).
  10. Truly under the microscope. I wonder if reviewing or trivia is the easiest way to get to the cap, although probably shouldn't discourage reviewing given it can help generate discussion. Perhaps extra TPE from a VHL mag would do the trick.... ;)
  11. But at least you had your S30 ring in Calgary (definitely the last best Calgary team ever) to fall back on.
  12. time flies when you're having fun
  13. I prefer just option 1 tbh, I think we have loads of scope for more interactive PTs as I've alluded to before in some 590 article, so we should try that out first before moving on to more drastic measures.
  14. yeah but then you hate them because you've only seen them win, not because they claim to be storied. Just admit you're a sore loser.
  15. No GM should be trading S63 2nds anyway.
  16. It's a weird one to get used to, but actually even easier to track in the portal (you can filter by team, position, draft year). 900 TPE probably means less now than it used to but there aren't a lot of high TPE players atm so it actually still does this season. I find that quite weird cuz they were anything but storied til basically S32. 4 lost finals in a row, not really much better than Vasteras.
  17. Did anyone have any more good regular season streaks while I was on my 1 year drinking binge? S54 Stockholm maybe since they have more wins than Quebec? (and also didn't make the finals which seems like the tragic end which befalls all regular season legends)
  18. I actually found a word document with the last bit of write-up for this. I think I never got around to listing out all the awards and shiz. It was before the threepeat too.
  19. This post was more accurate when it said 'sinned'.
  20. Just hire more people, than if half fail to deliver you still have 8 articles to present. We've got a shit ton of S63 draftees, and some from previous year, so I think the writers' pool should be in good stead.
  21. Good morning VHL, Earning TPE has never been easier. The ease with which 6 TPE can be earned from a normal Point Task or 4/5 TPE for welfare/pension is like a completely different to when I joined in the heady days of April 2009 and even to a fairly recent time of a 9 TPE weekly cap and grading. The update system has also been revolutionised beyond recognition by the Portal. Both changes are 95% certainly for the good of the league, but have left 1 key area of weakness - lack of job opportunities. You see, the age-old VHL system saw 2 fairly easy ways for new members to hop onto the TPE gravy train - grading and updating, both of which earned up to a very wholesome 2 TPE a week. Both jobs are now effectively obsolete. Now, the weekly cap can these days be hit without a job. A Point Task, and article in this forum, press conference answers/questions, and VHL trivia answers will get you to the cap. However, why not add another opportunity + additional reason for discussion? When it was brought in around S15, the VHL Magazine provided 7 TPE per week to its writers in place of a PT, quite the reward back in those days. In the current climate, it could well be worth 8 TPE a week as a good generator of discussion. For newer members who don't know what exactly this entailed, I have brought back the old Magazine forum in read-only format - have a look here: https://vhlforum.com/forum/76-vhl-magazine/ 340 editions of pure VHL were pumped out on a weekly basis and I am sure would find an appeal again. The problem of course always lay with finding a reliable editor. We were blessed to have its creator Raymond Funk around for a long time, and the mantle was picked up very well by @STZ but after his retirement there were soon no options left. Unfortunately, I personally can not volunteer myself for the position to a lack of the necessary skillset + already having a paying job. But perhaps someone out there would love the opportunity to resurrect one of the gems of the VHL's past - it would be hugely beneficial for all IMO.
  22. That's mainly true, as in a certain amount of points was always considered necessary to enter the conversation, but again I don't think it overlooked any of the best defencemen in the league anyway. Any defenceman who was built for the HOF was basically built to enter the Labatte discussion, whichever the came at it (hits or just assists). The Wylde meanwhile is skewed towards.... I don't even know, that's the problem. The main beneficiaries from this appear to be Dexter Lane, Jerrick Poole, and Jack Kowalski.... which I don't think really is hugely merited. Which is why the All-Star team idea I think is viable. The awards committee can say at the outset, OK, we're going to include the Labatte winner but also any really impressive defensive guys for fair representation. If you have 2 teams, that's 4 defencemen slots which should really cover all bases in a single season. So even if points aren't your thing, you still get recognition and TPE (+I would say some level of consideration in the HOF discussion), while the Labatte carries on going to genuinely the most impressive defenceman in the league (based on the limited amount of info we have). The current split is too diluted IMO and I think both awards are weaker for it. I think a player being considered for HOF with 2 Labattes in their current form holds a lot less weight than 2 Labattes in the past.
