As we mentioned yesterday, this year the VHLSC is going without a mock-draft for the first time in quite a few seasons. However, we didn't want to leave everyone hanging in regards to evaluating this years draft thoroughly and honestly. Building the perfect player with this years crop of hopeful draftees was fun, but it certainly doesn't cure our craving for more insight. Without further adieu here is the S54 Special Draft Presentation! FOOK YU @tfong Fook Yu is a complete center with a knack for shutting opponents out. Yu won't provide your team with it's main source of offence but he does have the defensive know-how to compete in multiple areas of the ice; and at a high level. Fook Yu will be a first round selection but this one will come down to need. Projected Draft Position: 2nd-4th Overall NHL Comparison: Patrice Bergeron VHL Comparison: Lars Berger SHAWN GRETZKY @TheLastOlympian07 Gretzky's name will surprise you because it's the best name in NHL history, but this Gretzky isn't even in the same universe as Wayne. That being said Gretzky's future in regards to VHL potential, is very high. Gretzky provides a great two-way game but not as defensive as Fook Yu is. Gretzky will be a first round selection and once again it will come down to need. Projected Draft Position: 2nd-6th Overall NHL Comparison: Ryan O'Reilly VHL Comparison: Felix Zamora PABLO @Pablo Pablo was the latest addition to the VHL Draft eligible players list because of a birth certificate issue. He was deemed eligible just last week and that just adds to deep pool this class has. Pablo has a bit of both Gretzky and Yu in his game as he tends to stay defensive more than offensive. Pablo will be a first round selection but his TPE totals are a bit lower than the previously mentioned centres. Projected Draft Position: 4th-8th Overall NHL Comparison: Travis Zajac VHL Comparison: Naomi Young RASK ROWE @Rowe89 Rask Rowe is the last center we list who we see being sought after by VHL clubs. Rowe is another player with a great deal of influence in the defensive zone for his club. Rowe doesn't have strong offensive numbers and won't be counted on for much offence to start his career, but still does have a mid to high ceiling in potential. Rowe will be a second round selection in the VHL Entry Draft. Projected Draft Position: 13th-18th Overall NHL Comparison: Marcus Kruger VHL Comparison: Adam Harris RUDOLPH SCHMECKELDORF @Corco Rudolph Schmeckeldorf has had less media written regarding him than any of the big draft hopeful prospects in this draft. However, Rudolph has put together quite the resume before the draft. Primarily a passer and player with great vision, Rudolph is the perfect winger to put beside a sniper down the middle. Rudolph will be a first round selection easily. Projected Draft Position: 5th-8th Overall NHL Comparison: Ales Hemsky VHL Comparison: Devon Saxter TAKASHI FUJIMOTO @HFD Fujimoto is the purest scorer in this years crop of draft hopefuls. It will be interesting to see what how General Managers approach this draft knowing a very bright and talented first generation player is out there. We see Fujimoto covering a broader selection distance but we do see him going in the first round regardless. Projected Draft Position: 6th-10th Overall NHL Comparison: Kyle Palmieri VHL Comparison: Evgeni Fyodorov VERNER REINHOLDT @Devise Verner Reinholdt should go in the first round pretty easily but this might be the player who is largely moved around because of what other teams do. Need will obviously play a factor but we see Reinholdt's position largely depend on what other General Managers are looking for in their lineup. Verne provides a great set-up man much like Schmeckeldorf. Projected Draft Position: 5th-11th Overall NHL Comparison: James Neal VHL Comparison: Matthew Gunnarson SLAVA ALEKSEI @Tyler Aleksei's ceiling isn't as high as the other prospects but he does pose an intriguing draft storyline as his agent does have a history in the VHL with some talented players. We see Aleksei being drafted by an older GM who knows a little bit about the agency employed by Slava, so that a fire can be lit under his ass. Aleksei looks to be a second round selection. Slava is purely an offensive forward. Projected Draft Position: 12th-16th Overall NHL Comparison: Sam Gagner VHL Comparison: Syd Drayson ALEKSEI FEDEROV @Banackock Federov is a pure shutdown defensemen. This is an easy selection for whatever team is looking for that number two defensemen who provides your goalie with a best friend. It's very very likely that Federov could go early but if the run on forwards happens early, this could be a first round steal in the second half of that round. Projected Draft Position: 3rd-7th Overall NHL Comparison: Karl Alzner VHL Comparison: Kyle McLeod HUDSON ABBOTT @Bushito Abbott is the closest thing to a power play quarterback that this draft class carries. A booming shot from the point combined with smooth skating and good passing vision. The ceiling is high on Abbott, but whether his agency can commit seems to be the pre-draft worry. We see Abbott going in the first round but some General Managers might be scared by the pre-draft talk. Projected Draft Position: 5th-9th Overall NHL Comparison: Ryan Ellis VHL Comparison: Nic Riopel JON SNOW @ChiefNoka4 Jon Show doesn't know anything is what the pre-draft talk has whispered. We think otherwise as his hockey skill is definitely there and because of that we see him going in the second round. Snow brings a solid two-way game at the blueline but won't always show up on the scoresheet. Projected Draft Position: 12th-14th Overall NHL Comparison: Justin Braun VHL Comparison: Jonathan Slade LUCA VOLKOV @Kyle Volkov's agency has a history of pumping out solid players. Whether Volkov is fully committed or not is still a question that General Managers are asking themselves. If Luca can piece it all together he will have a solid career as a depth defender. We see him getting selected in the second round. Projected Draft Position: 14th-17th Overall NHL Comparison: Ben Hutton VHL Comparison: Andreas Nilstrom TORSTEIN IRONSIDE @DollarAndADream Ironside's ceiling is so high that teams will be chomping at the bit to grab him. Unfortunately for other teams it looks as though Ironside may not be available to every team by the time they step up to the podium. Ironside has a flair to his game and can be a franchise goaltender for years to come. We see Torstein being selected early in the first round. Projected Draft Position: 1st-4th Overall NHL Comparison: Cam Ward VHL Comparison: Joey Clarence MARKUS KING @Kendrick Markus King is the number one prospect on the latest draft rankings but that doesn't mean he is a sure fire bet to go first overall. Toronto will dictate how this draft will go and King could be selected first or he could fall. His game has a lot of finely tuned aspects to it and he could also be a franchise goaltender of the future. Projected Draft Position: 1st-5th Overall NHL Comparison: Jonathan Quick VHL Comparison: Benjamin Glover VERNON VON AXELBERRY @BobertZ Von Axelberry is an intriguing prospect because once again his agent wishes to go outside of the first round. It doesn't really fool any General Managers because they don't really attend to wants from player sin that regard. Vernon is the third best goaltender in the draft but he will provide good depth for any team looking to platoon their net minders in the future. Projected Draft Position: 5th-11th Overall NHL Comparison: Jacob Markstrom VHL Comparison: Drew Barclay *All players who updated within the past two weeks were included in this presentation. Anyone who didn't update is obviously not active and therefore the VHLSC doesn't have a proper reading on their potential future.

It's been a while since we've had the pleasure of giving you a league wide player poll! However, it is our great honour to give you the results to the recent survey we had set up and let you in on the winners and/or losers of each category (depending on how you put it). We had some very common survey questions that we did last time and some new ones that snuck into the survey. After getting responses from various different members league wide, we finally have the results and just in time for the young stages of the 50th season in VHL history! Without any more stalling, here are the results! Biggest VHL Agitator (in the sim) EDWIN REENCARNACION Edwin takes home the award for best agitator in the game. His size probably got him the nod here over other players, but he might be feared in the crease the most. #GoalieSacks Also receiving votes: Simon Valmount, Lord Karnage, Stabby McFulloschmidt, Bronson Faux & the Seattle Bears roster. Biggest VHL Agitator (on the board) Da Trifecta Da Trifecta wins this award award but a few voters did specifically say they voted for him because he did it the most, not because he did it the best. It's a fair point as doing it the most doesn't make you good at it by any means. Also receiving votes: Higgins & RobbieZ The Next Big Thing (in the sim) BOGDAN PODAROK Borden took home this award, but it was very close as two other players were within one vote of him. He certainly has a bright future with the Seattle Bears (if they choose to keep him there long-term). Also receiving votes: Titan Kronos, Tyson Kohler, Artom Zhumbayev, Black Velvet, LeAndre St. Pierre & Alexei Koponen The Washed Up Veteran (in the sim) LORD KARNAGE Karnage has seen his time in the limelight and the voters agree that he is a little over the hill. Over the course of the survey period, he has since retired. Probably a good thing for his knees. Also receiving votes: Sandro Clegane, Wolfgang Strauss, Bronson Faux, Hans Wingate, Freedom McJustice, Jon Panik, Pablo Escobar, Maxime Perron Biggest Pussy (Mike Ribeiro Award) TOM LINCOLN & KAI ROBERTS Well these two take home the award for Biggest Pussy. The award is for the softest piece of butter found skating out there on the ice surface. This award had many people gunning for it! Also receiving votes: Alexei Koponen, Travis Gownecky, Freedom McJustice, Lord Karnage, Max Molholt, E'Twaun Delicious Cheapest Player (in the sim) EDWIN REENCARNACION Apparently the VHL world thinks very low of Edwin, as this is his second award on the night. This might just mean they think he gets away with shit he shouldn't in every game they play against him, or it could mean the same as his first award. Also receiving votes: Lord Karnage, Phil Hamilton, Max Molholt, William Covington III, Bronson Faux & Souryuu Kaminogi Brains like Mush (in the sim) SANDRO CLEGANE & SIMON VALMOUNT One is a goalie and may have taken too many hits to the head and the other is a player who may have taken too many hits in general. Either that or their peers find them stupid as fuck. Also receiving votes: Lord Karnage, Jace Hines, Kai Roberts, Tom Lincoln, Vincent Adultman, Max Molholt & Benjamin Zeptenbergs Worst Dressed Player A TIE (Between 11 different players!) I guess there are a lot of poorly dressed players in the VHL. Good news is that they all suck together and there is a Moore's down the street from all the arenas. Most Feared VHL Player MAX MOLHOLT Well he has won two Continental Cup championships back-to-back and has been an offensive powerhouse for his Toronto Legion for the past several years. If those aren't the reasons than only Goaltenders must have taken this survey. Also receiving votes: Lord Karnage, Freedom McJustice, Pablo Escobar, Phil Hamilton & Hans Wingate GM with No Clue (What he is doing) JACK (JACKIM) Well this is rather fittings considering he just stepped down. We aren't sure he really qualifies as not knowing what he is doing, but more so does he know he is the GM in the first place? Jack stepped down and has now been replaced. Also receiving votes: gooningitup, Banackock, Toast, brovy & ATW Best Predictor (#SethKnew) STZ, VICTOR & COWBOYINAMERICA This is probably the result people were looking for the most because it means they could copy these people and get TPE. So here you go folks, think of this as the VHLSC cheatsheet award. Also receiving votes: sterling, eaglesfan036, Green, Phil & Higgins The Next Bushito BANACKOCK We should tell you several people had no clue what this award meant (DT and Kendrick got votes for it and they aren't even GM's). This award is for the GM who will go inactive during their tenure. Jack seemed to rush the ball on it but most thought Banackock would go first. Also receiving votes: gooningitup, Kendrick, Da Trifecta, Jack & Ahman Most Likely to Retire Early KAI ROBERTS No one saw this one coming! Just kidding, I think everyone knew this was coming. Hard to really compete when it is almost expected this happens within the three-four year window of creation. We'll see if it checks out through time. Also receiving votes: John Sleeman, AK47 & Ted Doughty Most Likely to Outstay Their Career Welcome 9 WAY TIE Phil Hamilton, William Covington III, Jorma Ruutu, Jeff Hamilton, Kai Roberts, LeAndre St. Pierre, Pietro Maximoff, Hans Wingate & Bronson Faux make the award a true thing! Apparently several players won't know when to hang up the skates. Best Hair TOM LINCOLN, PHIL HAMILTON & LORD KARNAGE These three apparently have the best flow in the game. If you have quality head lettuce game, you may or may not have better on ice game. Make it count under the helmet folks, don't spare any any brushes presence. Also receiving votes: LeAndre St. Pierre, Tyson Kohler, Noah!, Jorma Ruutu and Biggu Kyanon Worst Trashtalker DA TRIFECTA It doesn't look like he is praised by his peers in this survey's edition. People say if you can't trash talk, you probably shouldn't talk at all. The results say whatever he says isn't working to throw anyone off their game. Also receiving votes: Molholt, Boubabi, Victor, brovy, ATW & RobbieZ Brightest Future (Team) COLOGNE & RIGA Cologne and Riga are both enemies and they are both looking pretty good for the future; at least from what the survey results have said. First and foremost thanks to all who joined in last year, had some old ladies complain too much so we shut it down so they didn't lose their purses. We are back though! In the past this format has been harder to introduce though, mainly because many people don't take the time. So almost two weeks ago the VHLSC set out to gather the opinions of some of the leagues writers, critics and players. The votes have been tallied and the information is going to be released below! It turns out that some of the voters have a hard time reading, specifically where it says "Current VHL Players" and not retired players. We want to want you that some of the stupid answers were removed. As in naming an old city that is no longer affiliated with the VHL. Anyways, here the results for everyone (with some small analysis). VHL's Most Marketable Player Thomas O'Malley (10 Votes) Thomas O'Malley pulled away in the voting for this category. The Express forward is one of the top players in the VHL and is a threat to score from everywhere. Other votes: Tom Slaughter (4), Lord Karnage (3), Bismarck Koenig (2), Greg Clegane, Hans Wingate, Michael Clardy VHL's Worth Trash Talker Bruno Wolf (brovy/kesler17) (9 Votes) Bruno Wolf was voted worst Trash Talker in the vHL. It comes with no surprise as he has continuously had to eat crow for breakfast, lunch and dinner every season. This was a close vote between him and his horrible trash talking brother Da Trifecta. Other votes: Da Trifecta (8), Sterling (4), Molholt (1), gorlab (1), Phil (1) VHL Biggest Goalie Sieve (Plug) Jax Barnstormer (7 Votes) Jax Barnstormer had high praise when he was coming into the Victory Hockey League. Since that day he has disappointed and his peers have noticed. Other Votes: Niklas Mikaelsson (6), Bernie Gow (3), Hans Wingate (2), Fedir Okranitz (2), Brick Wahl (Retired), Kimmo Salo (retired) Most Underrated VHL Player Christoph Klose (4 Votes) Christoph Klose is unknown to many and known to few, but it seems his peers think the attention he gets is far below what he deserves. Other Votes: Travis Boychuk (3), Sachimo Zoidberg (2), Jake Wylde (2), Nicolas Caprivi (2), Milos Denis Rami Jakobssen, Ron World Peace, Marcus Hurley, Mason Richardson, James Faraday, Oskars Harumpf, Lord Karnage Most Overrated VHL Player Bruno Wolf (8 Votes) It appears not only is Bruno Wold the worst trash talker but he can't back his trash talking up as he was voted the most overrated by his peers. We see a trend formulating. Other Votes: James Faraday (5), Jody 3 Moons (4), Mason Richardson (2), Marcus Hurley, Tyler Cote, Gifford Shock, Brady Stropko Best VHL Trash Talker Tyler Cote (Ball) (4 Votes) The often loud and rash Tyler Cote seems to have drawn the title of best trash talker. It's well known the powerful skater opens his mouth a lot, apparently it gets to some. Other Votes: gorlab (3), Sterling (2), brovy (2), Munk, Jamie, Jericho, Jardy, Higgins, Advantage, Frank, STZ, Caillean VHL's Best Writer Hans Wingate (CowboyInAmerica) (9 Votes) Well the VHL is no stranger to good writing as well as poor writing. However for this honour CowboyInAmerica has the backing of his peers pretty strongly for best writer. Other Votes: Victor (4), Kendrick (2), diamond_ace (2), Devise22, Sterling, Noah!, Munk VHL's Best Graphic Artist Boubabi (Lord Karnage) (13 Votes) This was a very either or vote as graphics guy Boubabi claimed the top spot. His closest competitor won this last time the voting was done many moons ago. Other votes: Koradek (9), Frank Most Team Spirit Player Phil Hamilton (Phil) (7 Votes) He may not lead the league in any statistically category yet, but Phil Hamilton has been voted the player with most team spirit. This doesn't show up on a scoreboard but earns respect league wide. Other votes: Bismarck Koenig (2), Travis Boychuk (2), Tim TebowGow (2), Hans Wingate (2), Ron World Peace, Jake Wylde, Thomas O'Malley, Marcus Hurley, Michael Clardy, Tyler Cote, Ariel Weinstein Best VHL Future (Player) Edwin Reencarnacion & Hans Wingate (6 Votes) We have our first tie! Both these promising young players are said to have bright futures, maybe they will be competing for awards against each other in years to come. Other Votes: Sandro Clegane (2), Bronson Faux (2), Phil Hamilton, E'Twaun Delicious, Aleksi Koponen, Michael Clardy, Bismarck Koenig, Lord Karnage Best VHL Future (Team) Helsinki Titans (12 Votes) Apparently the league has noticed that the pending rebuild the Helsinki Titans are going through will put them with the best future. It's exciting to see a team refuel and go at it again. Other Votes: Calgary (5), Stockholm (4), New York Worst VHL Fanbase Quebec City Meute (6 Votes) Apparently the Meute fanbase is regarding as the worst in the VHL. Not sure what the reason behind it is but maybe it has to do with the general perception of the players, maybe they are just fickle? Other Votes: Seattle (4), Stockholm (3), Riga (2), Cologne (2), New York (2), Toronto, Calgary Worst VHL Arena to Play At KeyArena (Seattle, Washington) (5 Votes) This one actually doesn't come as a surprise. If anyone knows the KeyArena they would know its an old barn with little improvements, it last hosted the Seattle Sonics of the NBA. Other Votes: Colisee Pepsi (Quebec, 4 Votes), Ericsson Globe (Stockholm, 3 Votes), Arena Riga (Riga, 2 Votes), Madison Square Garden (New York, 2 Votes), Saddledome (Calgary, 2 Votes), Hartwall Arena (Helsinki), Vaillant Arena (Davos) Best VHL Arena to Play At Madison Square Garden (New York, New York) (9 votes) It is no surprise that the arena which is known globally as the mecca of the professional sports world is number one. Few pro sports teams can say they feature something this iconic.
