We needed a shake up and technically needed 1.5M cap space so I could get my player on the damn roster.

So after discussing this with @Smarch and @Higgins we've decided to give everyone a bump of 5 TPE, with the maximum pay out being 20.

As we approach our 10th anniversary this is something I just felt like posting that could be kinda interesting to see just how much some of us are old farts / celebrate how long the VHL has been running for. Basically, I just want to hear how much your lives have changed since the league came to be in July of 2007.
 
Personally I was going into grade 11; I had never dated anyone longer than 3 months and was working as a cashier at Shoppers Drug Mart while living with my parents in Moncton. I was turning 16 later that year.
 
Fast Forward 10 years: I've now been married for almost 2 years (met my wife when I was in grade 12), have graduated both high school and university (4 year BA program) and have been working as an editor in TV / film for the past 4 years. I changed cities twice in the time since the VHL started. The first for university when I moved from Moncton to Fredericton (back in Moncton in 2013) and then the move to Halifax at the end of 2015. I'm turning 26 later this year.

It's a year old but I don't take a lot of photos so yeah. Put on some weight but who the hell hasn't. Also, fun fact, the little girl in the first photo is my niece. She has now graduated High School and can legally drink. The VHL is just that old.
 
So yeah, don't make me look like the only weirdo here! How much has your life changed since the VHL began? Note as well that it doesn't matter when you joined, this is just comparing July 2007 to July 2017. Some of us old farts have just been around that long.

Agustus Gloop leading the league in blocked shots and hits!

So, over the last week we've taken a look at the leagues Top 3 goalies and defenders who reign supreme in both of those positions. For the goalies we seen Astrid Moon - G (link to media spot) come out on top with an amazing performance so far this year and for our trusty blue line defenders of the league, we've seen a pretty good 3-headed battle, however, due to exceptional play from one of the leads youngest talents on the back end, has Roman Sokolov with a step up on Bobby Digital and Fabio Jokinen. This week we're going to head a little off trail and take a look at a couple different statistics that rarely get piled up into these sort of writings. This week, we're going deep into the index to see who takes the cake for being the biggest bad ass in the league. Clarifying, not the coolest guy but the one who steps out onto the ice and instantly has his opponents reminding themselves to keep their heads up or it could be an easy and quick rest into the nightly casket for them. 
 
3. Brock Dragonslayer - STO
'
 
Surprisingly, we're going to cap this one off with a player I never expected to make the list. Brock has a lower about of TPE for his draft year sitting at 330 VIA player page and despite his checking and strength not being super high and there being stronger, more physical options on Stockholm, he easily leads the team in hits and sits comfortably in 2nd with a commanding 54 hit lead on 4th place. Though he is lacking fights to boost his "bad ass" status even more, what really adds him onto this list is the amount of times he's hit over being laid flat on the ice. With 250 hits on the year so far, he's only be pushed around a little taken a pretty low 61 hits to date. This means he's pummelling out 4.8 hits a game while only receiving roughly 1.17.  That ratio works for me and likely Stockholm as well. 
2. Darryl Dortch - HSK

 
Darryl Dortch finds himself in a similar position that Brock Dragonslayer does but gets the edge over him as he actually has dropped the mitts once this season. A couple really good candidates for this list, but Dortch finds himself fittingly in 2nd place. Again, similar to Dragonslayer, he finds himself up on 3rd place by 4 hits to just have second placed locked up for hits with 254. Furthering this argument of being a strong forced bad ass out there, he's only taken 43 hits on the season - so could it be a safe assumption that very few ice packs have been used on this guy? Doubtful, but hey. Dortch is a boss ass bitch and if he catches you with your head down, lights the fuck out. 
1. Fabio Jokinen - QUE

 
Last but surely not least, Fabio Jokinen has a habit of finding himself on each of my lists. Maybe it's a secret way to tamper and win over the heart of this amazing defender and person, or maybe it's simply that I respect the hell of his player and am a true supporter and fan of his play on the ice. Whatever the hell it is, here he is again. Let's start it off with him being in 3rd place for points on the season among defenders with 57 in 52. Next you have his hit total, which isn't as exciting as the other two and sits only at 124 with being hit 72 times. One would make an argument for fellow teammates Fook YU and Guntis Petenis who have a league leading 281 hits and 175, but there's one stat that gives Fabio the lead and it's a league leading 5 fights on the season so far. While it's not a huge number, it's leading the league and is surprising from this young fella. Safe to say, he's a bad ass as he can hit, rack up the points and isn't afraid to say "hey, fuck you, your moms a pussy" and drop the gloves either.

Been a pretty quiet World Cup! Let's get the hype going! Playing Canada in the semi-finals today and we crushed them 5-1 last time we met (Holik vs King). Lost 3-0 earlier in the round robin when it was DeGrath vs Threencarnac. Expecting DeGrath vs Holik tonight so it should be a tighter match, hopefully in our favour!
