the whole point of that new facility (as i understand it) is to encourage activity in the game threads. Even if theyre garbage posts, its better than no posts or a "+1" that doesnt generate anything.

And i mean honestly, Its not complicated......all you do is make three posts, then post the links in there. its just the same effort as tagging the "+1" in your update thread

I was supposed to bring this up after the S50 World Cup, but I forgot, and once again the rule was unchanged, so here I am.

This rule that retired players cat play in the World Cup is a terrible one. We should remove it IMMEDIATELY. Why, do you ask? well, 2 reasons, my friends.

#1. Do it simply for the good of the VHL. Let me ask you all something, what makes the World Cup(and in turn, the VHL) more active? Max @Molholt playing out his final games on Team Scandinavia, or watching inactive Jory Rose do shit all? Would we enjoy the Clegane brothers making a final stand together for Team Europe, or whoever the hell Alex Wolf is at backup? The same thing happened to @jRuutu last year. Adding these guys adds activity and involves more members.

#2. This one is the logical reason. Very simply, when players retire, are they immediately forced to stop playing? No!! They are allowed to finish the season they are in! so, lets take a quick look. Max Molholt, Greg Clegane, Biggu Kyanon, Ariel Weinstein, and Joel Jarvi have in common? they retired during the S52 season. What else for they have in common? they finished out the S52 season as per rules. What was this World Cup called? The S52 World Cup!!! When does it take place? the S52 offseason!!! So if these players are allowed to finish the season, why oh why are they disqualified from the World Cup in favor of inactives?????

    I rest my case

Let me tell you a story about how I decided the fate of an award, and also lost me, @der meister, and @Cuffy 1 TPE

As you know, I am in the BOG. BOG does all the award voting now because the GMs suck. So we were sitting down and discussing who should win which award. Finally came the voting for the Dustin Funk Trophy for Most Improved. If i remember correctly, there were only 2 candidates posted, Maximoff and Maxwell. However, I had mentioned another person I thought who should deserve to win the award. That man was Jim Lahey. What was my reasoning for this?

Maximoff change: +31 goals, +34 assists, -27 hits, -3 shot blocks
Maxwell change: +18 goals, +40 points, +14 hits, -28 shot blocks
Lahey change: +6 goals, +24 assists, +137 hits, +83 shot blocks

basically my logic was that while Maximoff and Maxwell only made great offensive improvements, Lahey made good offensive improvements AND great defensive improvements. Unfortunately either everyone ignored this explanation or didnt think it deserved the time of day, so Lahey was not added to the ballot. This makes sense, I mean Cuffy is semi inactive, but also this is the same season a totally inactive is on the MVP ballot, so.

anyways, so because of that, When I went to vote, there was no Lahey and write in option. So, i did some calculating and went with who I believed deserved it the most after that: Pietro Maximoff. When the votes were all tallied up, what were the results?

Most Improved - Dustin Funk Trophy: Pietro Maximoff (RIG)
    Maximoff (RIG) - 6, Maxwell (NYA) - 5

Maximoff won by one vote. MY one vote. So, if Lahey had been on the ballot right now, we wouldve seen a 5 vote tie for the Funk Trophy and I would be at 724 TPE instead of 723.

Conveniently forgot to mention Hamilton there, eh? Difference is not Muller by any means.

Also here's a comparison @BobertZ can get behind!

S51: Muller gets cup, SWC3 gets cup
S52: Muller doesn't get cup, SWC3 gets cup.

Difference seems to be Covington, my friend. Nice try

I realize that one season makes a difference. But there's a massive difference between comparing seasons before I even knew what this site was and the most recent season in which we are currently still in the offseason of until Jardy starts simming.
