Calgary Wranglers: Season 51
TheLastOlympian07 replied to TheLastOlympian07's topic in Archived Media Spots
too bad you didnt have the STHS sim luck in playoffs. 3 losses were 2-1. Weinstein had a 0.929 save percentage -
GM: Austin Gow (720/340/323/57/737) Former GM(s): Jardy Bunclewirth (504/172/307/25/369) Jason Glasser (1080/547/456/67/1,161) Record (after S20): 2,304 GP | 1,059 W | 1,086 L | 149 OTL | 2,287 P | 6,415 GF | 7,288 GA Playoff Record (after S20): 185 GP | 97 W | 70 L | 18 OTL | 4-2 vs TOR, 4-3 vs QUE, 4-5 vs NYA, 2-2 vs SEA, 1-0 vs DAV, 1-0 vs COL, 1-3 vs HEL Season 51 VHL Entry Draft: 1st Round, Pick 4: D Shaka Trades (Regular Season): N/A Season 51 Regular Season - 72 GP | 64 W | 4L | 4 OTL | 132 P | 283 GF | 96 GA What a difference a few seasons make. The Wranglers were floundering in last place at the end of Season 49 and two seasons later the led the league in points with 132 leading to one of the best records in VHL History. Signings of free agents such as Aleksi Koponen, Unassisted, Tyson Kohler and Black Velvet would do that though. All were the top free agents on the market and all signed with one team that already housed Travis Gowecny, Theo Axelsson and Ariel Weinstein. The result was a 64-4-4 record and a very fun season for the Wranglers after some so so seasons. Koponen, Kohler, Velvet and Unassisted all had over 100 points in the Wrangler debuts. Weinstein had a 0.932 save percentage with 16 shutouts. All was looking good for them heading into the playoffs as the odds on favorite to win the Continental Cup. Season 51 Playoffs - 5 GP | 1 W | 3 L | 1 OTL With their outstanding record, the Wranglers were given a bye right into the Conference finals where they awaited the winner of the Seattle Bears and Toronto Legion. Toronto ended up winning and wound up playing against Calgary. Everything was looking good for the Victory Cup winners. Calgary previously was 4-1 in series' against Toronto. So this was expected to be a cake walk. However, when Calgary tied the game up in Game 1, the knew they were in for a series. It was 1-1 going into OT before Zach Parechkin sent the home fans home with a sour taste in their mouths. Game 2 was much different as Tyson Kohler scored just 6 seconds into the game but 3 minutes later Toronto answered. It looked like we were heading for OT against before Unassisted scored the winner just 4 minutes into the 3rd to tie the series at 1. Game 3 in Toronto was nothing like the other 2 games as Toronto blew out Calgary 4-0. In game 4, Wranglers scored first as Unassisted did his thing but 2 goals including 1 in the 3rd by old friend Marquis Hyvarinen sealed it for Toronto making it a 3-1 series lead for TO. Game 5 was a little different from the others. Toronto jumped out to a 2-0 lead until 3 minutes left when Aleksi Koponen got off the snide with a goal finally but it was too little to late. Toronto completed the upset and Calgary was left to go home wondering what went wrong. 4 games ended 2-1 with one blow out loss which means Ariel Weinstein wasn't to blame. Awards: Season 51 Dustin Funk Trophy Winner - Tyson Kohler Season 51 Sterling Labatte Winner - Black Velvet Season 51 Alexander Beketov Winner - Black Velvet Season 51 Mike Szatkowski Winner - Aleksi Koponen Season 51 Victory Cup Winner Overall: Overall the regular season was one of the best but the playoffs had a lot to be desired. The depth just wasn't there for the Wranglers as the top lines went head to head the 2nd line and 2nd defense pairing got exposed by the Toronto Legion. A win against the Helsinki Titans in the 5th game of the season was the Wranglers 1000th win (after Season 20) so that was a pretty cool milestone I thought. Koponen, Gowecny, Axelsson, Kohler, Velvet, Doughty and Unassisted all passed the 100 point mark in a Wrangler uniform this season. Klingberg just missed out with 98 points. All these players are in the 41st to 55th range in terms of points scored in a Wranglers uniform. Hitting 100 points is a big deal. Ariel Weinstein is almost at the 100 win mark with 89 in his Wrangler career. He is the best in terms of save percentage and G.A.A with a 0.931 and 1.70 G.A.A. He is also 2nd in shutouts with 26. Does he make a case for best Wrangler goalie of all time thus far? Wrangler Stats @chatfan036 @Will @Higgins @Kendrick @Smarch I can't remember theo axelsson or unassisted off hand, maybe you guys can tag him but care to discuss Season 51? must have been a lot of fun for you guys until playoffs.

maybe i was a little to harsh or whatever, but you don't care, but I am glad you're getting your voice out there and giving your opinions on things. I don't think a lot of people will have the same opinions as you do. That is fine. just like you don't like expansion but as we can see it is a good thing. This community had the small town vibes before everyone knew everyone, but when people started to leave the community started to die. We were very dire in the what mid 40's early 50's with the Project Player 2 bandaid. That just ended up burning people out rather than saving the league and did more harm than good. I think you are stuck looking at how things were and reminiscing of that rather than looking at how good things are now and what they can be going forward. Expansion is a good thing when it is done right. I think the VHL knows this and they pick their spots. We currently have 200 members in this next draft. Obviously not all 200 will stick around but did we ever think this would happen back in Season 49 when there was what 12 players in the draft? No. Look at the good things my guy, come back to the league and start over. I have, I used to be a VHLM GM (won a cup and top GM, not a big deal), I don't expect things to be handed to me, I have been inactive for a few seasons now I am starting over and I am having fun again. Hope you figure things out, hope things are good for you at home. Hope you can come back and enjoy the league again, it is prospering more than ever and I am sure everyone would love for you to be apart of it.

you make me embarrassed to be named Shawn with this post. You cry about people being entitled to nothing but yet want to be a GM of a Alaska or Colorado team? maybe i read that wrong or maybe i just can't wrap my head around the stupidity of this post. I would say I feel bad for everyone dragging you, but I dont. I can't tell if this was a serious article or not. If you just wanted people to just pay attention to you for awhile. Either way, job done i guess. you got dragged and people paid attention to you. i bet youll come back and say this was a joke article now because of how hard you got dragged tho. cheer up. sim leagues are for fun.

was there 3 maf alive tho? didnt we hang one during the day?
-
which is why i think he is GF. and you my friend are the arso. but i could be wrong we do have jeff and devise who havent said shit
-
part of what @jhatty8was getting at yes, i was indeed transported. i looked at OMG last night because someone a few pages back said he had high defense aka was attacked last night. so when he said he was not i thought that was sus because why would someone randomly come out with that info. but either way i checked him and he came up inno which leads me to believe he is GF.
-
here what i think. omg or ferk is the GF. omg or eagles(chatfan) are the arso. either way I think OMG is a bad guy. vote OMG
-
with Ricer basically coming clean as exe, i think its safe to say i am confirmed. Why would i out myself with 0 info, that would be a dumb play imo because i could have gotten myself killed by maf or rb.
-
jorg is the main one we vote right now i think and when the time is right we can vote up osens for ricer if he votes along with town
-
I am a sheriff, thats why I didn't believe Ricer at all. I invested ferk n1 but he was in jail however with the late call in from jorg i figured id invest him and he came up suspicious vote Jorgthegoat
-
i guess we dont have enough votes to do anything today if we wanted. be interesting to see what happens. in my opinion i think ricer is exe.
-
interesting i thought if they were rb they couldn't jail anyone. good to know also Ricer playing very hard. seems sus tbh. very exe play. maybe we toss ricer up there or jail him.
-
so jailor can jail someone while being RB?

Background: Shawn Andrei Zyuzin was drafted by the Philadelphia Reapers in the 4th round, with the 38th overall pick, and to say the least he has become quite the draft day steal. Over the course of the season, SAZ has turned into the Reapers number 1 defenseman in terms of practice hours. The 18 year old defenseman is 6'1 and 208 pounds, making him average in terms of size but he does play a lot bigger than that. SAZ will be a late 1st round pick or early 2nd round pick if my estimations are correct for this draft so far. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Season Totals: 72 GP | 11 G | 31 A | 42 P | +5 | 98 SH | 193 PIM | 233 H | 100 SB | 2 GWG Team: Philadelphia Reapers, Did not Qualify for playoffs, missed by 3 points. Strengths: Shawn Andrei Zyuzin is very much a stay at home defender so don't let his 42 points fool you from this season. He was used in all situations and I don't think that will translate to the VHL unless there are no other options. SAZ works very well in his own end as we can see with his 100 blocked shots. Another strength in SAZ's game is his physical play. SAZ was one of the top hitters in the VHLM with 233 hits. That is about 3.23 hits per game which is nice. When SAZ is on the ice you know if you go into his corner or in front of his goalies net, he will let you know he is around. Last strength is his skating ability. To play hockey these days, you have to learn how to skate. The elite players are most likely those who can skate. SAZ can skate with and without the puck which leads to a lot of hits and well timed defensive plays. He is never caught out of position because he can skate and keep up with the very skilled forwards of today's VHL and VHLM. Weaknesses: Shawn Andrei Zyuzin has a few weaknesses and one of them is his discipline. He may step out of line to hit a player back who may have done him or a teammate wrong. That is the price you pay when you step over the line though and SAZ will let you know it on the ice that it is not okay to take advantage of his teammates like that. His 193 PIM's are high but I think his teammates appreciate what he does for them. Scoring is another weakness I think for SAZ. He won't score this much when he reaches the VHL level, because he will be playing with and against more higher skilled guys than in the VHLM. He won't be used in all situations like he was in Philadelphia which led to him having 42 points. Comments: Shawn Andrei Zyuzin is a team player first and foremost. You know you will get a solid two way defenseman who will have a knack for staying in his end of the ice most of the time but can step up in the rush once in awhile. He won't be putting up monster numbers but he won't embarrass himself out there that is for sure. He is also very loyal and will look to stay with the team that drafts him for as long as he can. 8 season if he could, that is what is preferred. I can't wait to see what happens in the draft and in the future for Shawn Andrei Zyuzin. This season has been a blast in Philadelphia with this young team, they will only get better but, if the GM that drafts me allows it, I will like to stay in the VHL rather than go back to the VHLM even if SAZ will be a little under developed for the VHL.

not a list you want to be on. thanks for the mention though!

Philadelphia Reapers Press Conference
TheLastOlympian07 replied to BladeMaiden's topic in Team Press Conferences
1) Two games remain in the season. Philly sits in the final playoff spot with a 1-point lead over Miami, who has a game in hand. Who’s making the playoffs? Philly will find a way! 2) Defensemen Bob Tristan and Shawn Andrei Zyuzin got 1st stars in recent games. Why do you think we’ve had an increase in points from our defense? Working together more, we didn't have much time to work together but now I think it is all starting to come together at the right moments. 3) Forward Justin Lose leads the team with 0.88 points per 20 minutes played. Why is he able to score so consistently? He is a solid player who fit in right away. 4) Do you prefer to play home games or away games? How come? I have no preferences, I just go out and play. 5) The Reapers recently installed a “rage room”, a room where you can just go crazy and smash and break stuff when you need to release some built-up rage. What item(s) do you like breaking the most? I like breaking the TV's. they sound the best when you break the screen. 6) It’s Halloween soon, you get to request one type of candy to get added to the locker room candy stash. What are you asking for? Why? I'm asking for Nerds because they simply taste the best. -
