  1. The Journey from Finland to Mexico City...so far Shawn Antti Aalto was born in Lappeenranta, Finland. He is a centerman who focuses on the defense side of the game since his father Antti Aalto of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks fame was the same player. Shawn just wants to be just like his dad. Since Shawn was born to an American mother and Finnish father, he had the choice his father said of playing in America or in Finland. Shawn, wanting to copy his dad's every move choose to stay in Finland. to Shawn's career started off with the SaiPa or Saimaan Pallo which is his hometown team. Shawn started off on the U20 team despite being a 15-year-old kid but his advanced defense made him a coach's favorite. He would play in 13 games and put up a surprising 16 points. Putting up those numbers, Shawn would get the call up to the big club where he would play in 20 games and scoring 12 points. Not bad for the kid. In his age 16 season, he started to gain traction from bigger clubs in Finland. Shawn would continue playing for the U18 and U20 clubs for SaiPa playing a combined 6 games and scoring 7 points before moving on to the big club once again. In 23 games with SaiPa, Shawn scored 6 goals and assisted on 8 goals for 14 points. However, that wasn't the big news on the year, during the year, Shawn was pursued by TPS Turku and they succeeded in signing the young SaiPa player. Shawn would play 1 game in Turku before being sent down to finish the year with the U20 team putting up 14 points in 14 games. Coming into his age 17 season, Shawn would play 10 games with the U20 team scoring 11 points, was promoted to an affiliated club in the Finnish-2 league which was Kiekko-67's. 4 points in 4 games showed Shawn was ready to play in the Men's league. Playing in the men's league, Shawn put up 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points. In the playoffs, Shawn would score 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points in 10 games. Overall, Shawn Aalto had a solid career in Finland so far but he wanted more. While he was following in his father's footsteps, Shawn decided along the way that he wanted to blaze his own path. While he could have had a very solid Sim-Liigaa career which would have saw him probably drafted to the NHL. Shawn wants to go to the VHL which is now in its 72nd season. This means the league is obviously established itself as an equal to the NHL. Other leagues like the SHL were courting Shawn Aalto, but he chose the VHL route. He will start this playoff run with the Mexico City Kings before being drafted to a VHLM team this next season then being drafted to the VHL. Just in time to join one of the newly announced expansion teams the VHL has to offer.
