  2. The Season 75 VHL Entry Draft is slated to go today on November 9th, 2020. 2020 has been quite the year for the VHL, Seattle established themselves as a dynasty, the VHL expanded to 16 teams. Other than Seattle being good, I'd say everything is awesome right now in the VHL (just bugging bana). However, here is a 1st Round mock draft of the Season 75 VHL Entry Draft. 1st Overall Pick - Los Angeles Stars - C Pistil Stamen 269 TPE @DMaximus The Los Angeles Stars need help everywhere but goalie. With the highly anticipated prospect Taro Tsjimoto having ties to a later team in this draft, L wanting to be drafted with brother D, so he isn't an option because LA doesn't have another 1st round pick, I assume the Stars will go with plan C. Obviously, I mean that in the best way possible because Stamen is a great prospect in his own right. He comes in with 269 TPE and is well rounded right now. His scoring touch and defense skills are VHL ready right now. What may need some time is his Skating and Puck-Handling skills. In 92 career VHLM games, Stamen has scored 91 points which means he is ready to move up to the show. Stamen will slide in nicely as the 3rd center for now but it won't be long before he moves up to take Richard Penisson's spot. 2nd Overall Pick - Toronto Legion - D Jolly Greene Giant 250 TPE @DoktorFunk The Toronto Legion just traded away some of the better players which happens to be Erik Killinger. I believe he is a defenseman so looking at the roster, I would say replacing him with some high end talent is what they want to do right away. Seeing L on the board still is intriguing for the Legion but with their next pick at 13th Overall, it is hard to see the Legion being able to swing a trade for an earlier selection to be able to select R. With that being said, I can see the Legion taking Jolly Greene Giant 2nd overall. It is no different than the United if they had this pick. Giant is a well rounded defenseman with solid scoring and defense abilities. His Skating is average for the VHL level but his strength is above average. He should fit in well on the Legion defense coming in as the 6th defenseman technically but it wouldn't surprise me if the Legion made more moves to free up playing time for Giant. 3rd Overall Pick - HC Davos Dynamo - G Artem Tretiak 238 TPE @Molholt The Dynamo are in an interesting position, they have some older players especially on the wings but is 3rd overall to early to reach for a winger? Defense and goalies remain on the board that are more likely to pan out than the wingers on board. That is not a knock on the wingers on the board in RJ Thatcher and Joe Kelly but I think Davos may go in the way of a goalie since Joakim Bruden is getting a little older and he practices well, but he doesn't cap out like others. Tretiak caps out every week and he has so much potential since his agent is the legendary Mike Molholt, who GM'd the threepeat in the VHL, first and only of it's kind. 4th Overall Pick - Chicago Phoenix - D L 291 TPE @gorlab Gorlab's hard on for kyl tanked his stock a little bit as he went from being 1st overall to 4th overall. Which is not bad for the Chicago Phoenix as they couldn't be happier. L steps right in to lineup and he would be the 3rd best defenseman on the roster right away as of the draft. That speaks a lot for L's talents and the lack there of on Chicago. Chicago just traded for Jeff Downey to shore up the defense line as well so Downey would be a great mentor for L in his first season. 5th Overall Pick - New York Americans - D Ove Dyrdahl 232 TPE @GRZ The Americans have some young centers coming up this season so they seem to be set down the middle for the time being, unless those youngster don't pan out. However, with only 2 defenseman on the roster, I see them kind of reaching for Ove here. He is not bad by any means but the wingers above him could possibly be better. The Americans need defenseman though and Ove is a good one in his own right. Ove is a stay at home defender first and foremost, that may not sit right with the Americans but I think he would fit well with Markus Schauer who is offensive. They could be a Erik Karlsson - Marc Methot type pairing. Ove would step in and be the 3rd defenseman right away and wouldn't be to ofar off pasing Wolf Stenssen as the 2nd best defenseman. 6th Overall Pick - Chicago Phoenix - D R 213 TPE @Kylrad Here we have the 2nd part of the defense pairing in R who L demands be drafted with him or else he would not play for the franchise. Chicago is the only team this early in the draft to have picks back close together to pull this off. R at 6th overall could be good if he pans out but will he ever live up to his billing as a top 6 pick? Probably not. That is the risk Chicago will have to take though since they want L and he is a 1st round talent. I hope R proves everyone wrong though and proves he is just as talented as his brother though. Chicago would have a nice pairing for years on the backend if that happens. 7th Overall Pick - Riga Reign - C It's Gucci - 218 TPE - @frescoelmo This may seem like a reach but when you have needs, you need to fill it. Riga has 1 C on the roster and he will be entering his 6th season. So in this draft class, Gucci is the next best center after Stamen. Gucci and his agency have been hot and cold in recent times but if you remember, Tarik Saejis is a Riga Legend and he was brought to you by fresco. Maybe a return trip to Riga will reinvigorate fresco and make Gucci a very serviceable player for Riga. He would be the 2nd line center by default. I think this would be a good draft pick for Riga despite the reach as some may perceive it to be. Riga is playing with house money though as they have 3 draft picks in the 1st round. 8th Overall Pick - Riga Reign - RW RJ Thatcher - 246 TPE - @jhatty8 With back to back picks at 7 and 8, Riga would feel needs up front while hoping youngster Matt Thunder becomes a serviceable defender as he has been in the minors for the past few seasons. He seems to be making progress leaving the Reign to fill their needs up front. Thatcher would fit in well on the right side along side Gucci on the 2nd line. I think GM Zeptenbergs has a good relationship from the SBA with agent Jhatty, so he would be able to keep him active. Getting Thatcher this late in the 1st round is great for Riga and they should be giddy with anticipation for Thatcher. 9th Overall Pick - HC Davos Dynamo - C Taro Tsujimoto - 301 TPE - @GustavMattias GM Selection 10th Overall Pick - Riga Reign - G Sirkants Klamsteris - 253 TPE - @hedgehog337 GM Selection 11th Overall Pick - Warsaw Predators - D Muffbeav - 263 TPE - @.sniffuM GM Selection 12th Overall Pick - Vancouver Wolves - LW Cabe McJake - 233 TPE - @RedSus GM Beaviss loves him some first generation players and RedSus would be barking up the right tree if he wanted to go to the defending VHL Champions in Vancouver. Vancouver has always had good luck with 1st Gen players so take McJake here would be a match made in heaven for both. Nothing better than being a player joining a cup contending team right away while also stepping onto a team that needs Left Wingers as they're none on the current roster. However, it would still require a lot of work for Cabe to earn that spot on the top line but the potential is there for the yongster and Vancouver has a ton of veterans willing help out McJake. 13th Overall Pick - Toronto Legion - LW Joe Kelly - 243 TPE - @emidas I originally had Kelly going 9th to Davos to join his running mate Molholt but then I remembered GM's have to use their 1st round picks on their own players which I think is dumb. Either have the in the draft and they can go anywhere or just give them to their teams without picks. That is neither here nor there. Toronto gets an absolute steal to add to their forward group, while the need may be on the backend, the possibility of adding a forward of Kelly's caliber is too much to pass up. Doesn't that sound like another Toronto hockey team? 14th Overall Pick - Vancouver Wolves - D Shawn Andrei Zyuzin - 206 TPE - @me I could be too high on myself here but I think I am the best defender left, and Vancouver could use a defender to step in after trading Jeff Downey to Chicago. I am not knocking other defenders left but I have earned at a higher rate and have almost caught them in TPE despite their headstart and because of the blues unwillingness to have me add my carryover TPE I have earned. I would be at 246 TPE at the time of writing but it is what it is. VHL commies gonna be anal about stupid things but let other things slide. 15th Overall Pick - Helsinki Titans - LW Addison McLaren - 226 TPE - @tcookie25 To finish off the 1st round with an actual draft pick and not a GM pick, we have McLaren a winger who helped the Miami team win the championship after barely squeaking into the playoffs. I think McLaren is a fine winger and would fit in nicely in the future but will most likely spend a season in the minors. 16th Overall Pick - Moscow Menace - G Rara Rasputin - 238 TPE - @Victor GM Selection
  3. hot damn i love offseason trades
  4. im in as long as we all vote devise first because he will most def forget to do important things
  5. there is no easy solution to this because gms will be salty no matter what. I am in the boat that GM's and their players should be different. they are not the same. Either, they get their player for no draft picks like how it was before we started to have to draft. or they enter the draft but they dont automatically go to their team. they have to be drafted. there is no room for middle ground in this because. either we are all in or all out with gm players.
  6. pls god no. not vancouver. anywhere but vancouver with beav
  7. hey 46th. not bad for my first season right
  8. i think as hard as it was to watch Markstrom, Tanev and Toffoli walk away, it will be better next year. This year was keeping under the cap and as much as Markstrom was a god, Demko is younger and could be better? (see Fleury and Murray). He was 30 and wanted a long term NMC contract and the Canucks could not offer him that as he wasn't part of the core age group sadly. Tanev too who was great during his almost 10 years, he was very injury prone and couldn't come to terms he wanted so he walked. I am sure that if benning didnt have a boner for 3/4 liners at 3 mill NMC that Tanev would still be here but that isn't the case. Holtby is solid insurance for Demko while he can be taken by Seattle if need be next season as well. Schmidt is an upgrade overall on Tanev. Virtanen if he could ever figure it out can be Toffoli but he can actually hit. So while every canuck fan thinks the sky is falling, I think it'll be more of the same as we move into Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson getting their big boy contracts.
  9. get a load of the Anaheim fan like it isnt the same with John Gibson
  10. Shawn Andrei Zyuzin has had a very long off-season after the Philadelphia Reapers missed the playoffs to a surging Miami Marauders team who are not in the VHLM finals after two upsets so far. I hope they go all the way although that would mean Victor winning and his head is already bigger than usual. Oh well, I'll be happy for Miami and not Victor. However, with a long off-season was a lot of time to work on his game and weaknesses for the upcoming season. During this, SAZ was able to score himself 2 draft interviews so far and I will say I am excited at the possibility of going to either of these teams because they are both teams I have not played for in a long time and one team ever. SAZ will be at 194 practice hours by week's end which is almost 150 more than what he started this season with. He has averaged 11.25 practice hours per week since this class was announced. This makes him one of the most consistent earnings in this draft class and he is the 8th ranked defenseman in the class so far but currently out earns 5 of these defenseman. Essentially, in the long run, SAZ could be the 3rd ranked defender and the end of his career to come from this class. I can't wait for this season to end and finally get my VHL career underway.

Not bad. Season 52 Regular Season - 72 GP | 50 W | 16 L | 6 OTL | 106 P | 228 GF | 126 GA With a season ending total like this you would expect maybe a 1st round place in the conference, but at least a 2nd place finish. Unfortunately, this was only good enough for 3rd in the North American Conference. The team was unable to keep last years team together because of the cap so Unassisted left for New York but the rest had stayed including a last minute decision by Black Velvet. Tyson Kohler stepped up in Unassisted's absence with a team leading 103 points. Travis Gowecny and Aleksi Koponen chipped in with 90 of their own. Ariel Weinstein's play dropped just a little bit falling from 0.929 save percentage to a 0.919. Overall, it was cutthroat in the NA this season as a 98 point team missed the playoffs. Season 52 Playoffs - 7 GP | 3 W | 4 L After getting the bye last season, the Wranglers now have to play old friend Unassisted in the Conference Semi-Final. This is the 10 meeting in the playoffs for Calgary and New York making it 3 more than Calgary vs Quebec and 4 more than Calgary vs Toronto. This didn't start out to good for the Wranglers as they fell behind 2 games to none after a 4-2 loss and a 1-0 squeaker after 2 games in New York. The Wranglers powered back with a 3-0 shutout of their own and a 3-2 win in games 3 and 4 respectively. The Americans took a 3-2 series lead with a commanding 7-4 win. Game 6 came back to Calgary and saw Aleksi Koponen be the OT hero. The Game 6 win also proved to be Calgary's 100th playoff win since Season 20, which is not bad. Game 7 though, would not be the 101st win, New York just flat out dominated Calgary 4-1 to skate away with a victory and the 6th series win vs Calgary. Aleksi Koponen and Theo Axelsson had a good playoff with 12 and 10 points respectively. Tyson Kohler and Black Velvet both had 7 and the rest of the team had less than 1 point per game. Ariel Weinstein who was magnificent last season was not good this year. He went 3-4 with a 0.891 save percentage. He did however get 1 shutout. Awards: Sterling Labatte Trophy - Black Velvet Overall: The team took a minor step back after a 132 point season last year, they were able to get 106 this season and make the playoffs. 5 players broke 200 career points with the Wranglers: Aleksi Koponen, Tyson Kohler, Travis Gowecny, Black Velvet and Theo Axelsson. Koponen breaks into the top 20 all time in scoring while the rest are as follows: 21st, 23rd, T-26th and T-27th. Tobias Klingberg broke into the top 40 with his 154 points. He is one of 50 players to break 100 points. Weinstein moves to 3rd in wins with 133, tied for 1st in save percentage with 0.925 and 1st in shutouts with 38. It was a good season with a hard fought 7 game series in the playoffs. Unfortunately, it wasn't the result the Wranglers brass had wanted when they brought back most of this core. Calgary Wranglers Stats
  12. 1) The offseason allows a lot of time to work on your skills. What skill are you focusing on improving this offseason? I want to keep improving my defensive game plus skating. 2) Miami vs. Mississauga in the VHLM finals. Who do you think will win? Are you watching the games? Miami, and no I am not watching. just for the memes i want Miami. 3) Helsinki vs. Vancouver in the VHL finals. Who do you think will win? Are you watching the games? Vancouver because my agent is from the province. No i am not watching this either. 4) What show(s) are you watching on TV during the offseason? Sons of Anarchy is a big one right now. 5) Say you’re drafted into the Ultimate Sports Fighting league. A cage-match fighting league between players of different sports. Each fighter is allowed to bring one item from their sport into the cage with them. What item are you brining? Why? Hockey stick. 6) What sport would you not want to face off against in the cage? Why? Baseball because of the bat.
  13. there are no winners here. except maybe the fans. the fans win
  14. this is what a MS is about. You learn and its fun to read! good job gus.
  15. this man gets it. I never laughed harder than when they were on the bus and they went and picked up a hitchhiker and it was Creed "hey yea just playing a little hookey from work.....omg'
  16. 1) The Reapers finished in 9th place, missing the playoffs by 3 points. What are your thoughts on the team’s performance this season? I think we had a good season. Not how we wanted to end it but we picked up steam at the end but it was too little to late. 2) What are your thoughts on your individual performance this season? I think I played well on both sides of the puck. 100 SB, over 250 hits, 42 points. not bad. 3) The offseason has begun, are you staying in Philly or going somewhere else? Why? I think I will be moving on after being drafted to the VHL. unless the VHL GM says otherwise I plan on being in the VHL. Thanks for everything Philly, you have been a blast. 4) During the offseason, you won’t be under the watchful eye of the Reaper’s dietary team. What item are you most excited about eating? Pizza. lots and lots of pasta. 5) The Reapers fan club had a gift placed at your locker on clean out day. What did they get you? A nice rolex watch with my name engraved in it. 6) At this very moment, the zombie apocalypse starts. What are you doing or where are you going next? I am going to do my best to take care of my family.
  17. The Philadelphia Reapers held the final playoff spot for much of the season. I want to say about 85% of the season the Reapers held the 4th spot. However, the Miami Marauders signed Rasputin and another player I think and that was the difference maker and they claimed the final spot from there on out. It was a sad end to the season for the Reapers. The Reapers can take a little solace in that Miami is taking it to the top ranked Halifax team. Many expected Halifax to sweep the 1st round series but Miami has forced a Game 7 that will take place tomorrow. I think it would be hilarious if Miami won. Shawn Andrei Zyuzin though had a good season with 11 goals and 31 assists for 42 points. He also finished with a +5 rating and 100 shots blocked even. Not bad for a guy who played on a less than stellar offensive team. SAZ also had 233 hits which was 2nd on the team and he made his presence felt anyway he could have this season. Expect SAZ to possibly be a late first round pick or a early 2nd round pick in terms of TPE. However, he could be taken anywhere but that is just my estimation. I am very excited to see what this off-season will bring.
