  2. All roads lead to Rome Seattle. Somehow, Otto Axelsson, and his predecessor Asher Donovan before him, always end up back in Seattle. The Bears organization apparently enjoys having the players from this agency and makes a point to go out an acquire them via trade. While Axelsson is not a superstar player, he is a capable top 6 forward who seems to take a step forward each season. Otto is nearing the end of his career which has seen him win one cup and produce at a pedestrian rate but he brings a strong veteran leadership presence that could be huge for the young up and coming Bears team. This marks the third time that the Swede has been traded; once from Calgary to Seattle after it looked like Otto would never become a VHL regular, once from Seattle to Davos when Seattle committed to rebuilding and lastly after Davos committed to rebuilding after failing to make the Finals. Many players go their whole careers without switching franchises so this gives Otto a somewhat unique perspective on the league. The center turned winger turned center again has seen three separate locker rooms, three different coaching philosophies and three unique management styles. That experience is valuable and could see Axelsson enter into a management role once his career is over and done with. Otto finds out he's been traded back to Seattle The Bears have informed Otto that he will be starting the season as their second line center and will likely spend most of the season there. Seattle also sent over a binder with some of their new coaching philosophies, the Bears have changed drastically since Otto last donned the red jersey. During the course of the summer, Otto has been working tirelessly on his faceoffs so that he can give his team possession on a consistent basis. While the reports are unconfirmed, sources have said that it looks like the speedy is winger is speedy no more; the swift-skating Swede appears to have lost a step as father time has started to catch up with him. However, those same sources have indicated that Axelsson has gotten stronger since last we saw him; he looks a little bigger and his shot has improved drastically. The Bears had a much better season than expected last year so their general manager went out and acquired some top-flight players and now they appear poised for a few good runs at glory in the coming seasons. The Bears likely won't finish as the top team in the league but they have enough pieces in place to see them secure a playoff spot. Can the additions of former MVP, Gabe McAllister offset the growing pains of a youthful roster? Has the Seattle manager done enough to push the Bears to the cusp of greatness and if so, does that make him a shoe-in for GM of the year? Only time will tell, as they say, but fans of the team have a lot to be excited about. This team is young and hungry and you should be afraid of the Bears.

  6. With the season coming to a close very shortly, Otto Axelsson is getting excited for what the end of the S62 means. Otto is a mere one game away from becoming a free agent for the first time in his career. Axelsson has come a long way from being a flop in the second round, Otto's value may never be higher than it is right now. The swift-skating winger set career highs across the board with 27 goals and 62 points; the Swede is not happy with this though as he has his sights set much higher. "I started off this season as one of the best players, I was leading in goals and I was named the first-star multiple times. As the season progressed I started to regress and it upset me greatly. I expect to be a point per game player at this point in my career and I have played with some great players so I should be at that level. I hope a team makes me a good offer with a great fit where I can flourish. I've been around long enough that I can be a leader in a veteran lineup and I can be a mentor to a younger squad if that is how things shake out".
  7. Going with the old Otto Axelsson approach. I have 0 TPE into faceoffs lol.
  8. Missing: Defense, if found please contact VHL management.
  9. I joined the VHL just in time for your MVP season. I remember taking you 1st in fantasy I think. I actually modelled my first player after you and then I fell off.
  10. I figured he had more games played but I am at work and did this on my lunch. Still, great career.
  11. Seventeen seasons have come and gone since 6'3" Zachary Parechkin decided to terrorize the VHLM with the now-defunct Bern Royals. Parechkin helped the Royals to a second place finish, while the Moscow Red Wolves were narrowly able to hold them off; Zach's mind-boggling 78 goals and 163 points in 72 games saw him take home the Ethan Osborne, Alexander Chershenko and Mitch Higgins trophies. The Royals were unable to capitalize on the electric rookies' phenomenal campaign as they were swept by the impressive Red Wolves who also swept the Brampton Blades on their way to their first-ever Founder's Cup victory. It was no surprise when the Legion skipped to the podium to select prolific winger first overall at the S46 VHL Entry draft. It did not take long for the Burnaby native to make his mark in the league; Parechkin scored his first goal in his first game while firing six shots and doling out six hits on en route to being named the second star of the game. The Legion would lose this game but it was not an indicator of the season to come; Toronto would improve from 27 points to 53 on the backs of their young superstars, even earning a chance to play in the playoffs. Parechkin would take home the Christian Stolzschweiger trophy as the leagues top rookie, this was a modest start to what was going to be a modest start to an impressive career. Parechkin was a hulking winger with great hands and a nose for the net, he was a power forward of great repute. This was best demonstrated in the S51 season. Zach made a good go of chasing down the single-season record for most hits but he fell just seven hits short of Valmount's 441. Zach may have been able to chase down the hits record but he was busy doing other things that season, scoring goals at a ridiculous rate. The S51 was Parechkin's best season and his 17 powerplay markers are tied for second-most in a VHL season. The S51 season was the apex of Parechkin's career and he cleaned up at the awards ceremony because of it. Zach was named the league's MVP and awarded the Brett Slobodzian Trophy for his efforts. Parechkin was also recognized for his immense leadership qualities with his 3rd Grimm Jonsson trophy in four seasons; Zach would go on to win his 4th Grimm Jonsson the following season, his last with Toronto. The 65 times that the power forward was able to deposit the biscuit into the back of the net paced the league and allowed him to take home the Kevin Brooks Trophy, however, the big Russian-Canadian was taught the value of two-way play and was crowned the top two-way forward in the league; The Scott Boulet Trophy would also find it's way onto his mantle that season. Parechkin's sublime talents did not just capture him many personal accolades, he used his leadership talents to inspire greatness from his teammates. Zach was a focal point of a Legion dynasty that saw them become the first team to win the Continental Cup a staggering three times in a row with Parechkin nabbing the Daisuke Kanou trophy as the playoff MVP in S49. The Legion only brought home one Victory Cup during Parechkin's time with the team but he managed to capture another with the Seattle Bears in his final season in the league. Parechkin's Home of Burnaby After 360 games of steamrolling VHL defenders on his way to the net, Zach decided it was time to end his career and move onto greener pastures but the legacy he left behind was one to be proud of. Emerging power forwards can look to his career and have something to strive for, a barometer to measure their mettle against as they try to carve out a niche in the league.
