The San Diego Marlins have managed to their first round series in convincing fashion, doing away with the Mexico City Kings in six games. After jumping out to an 3 nothing lead early on, Mexico City even managed to claw their way back into the series for a littlw while before the Marlins were able to put the nail in the coffin. Left winger Jean-Pierre Devote shouldered most of the offensive load, registering seven points throughout the course of the series. For the Marlins blueliners, Ron World Peace Jr had a stellar series as he came away with four assists. This already has equaled his points total from last season's postseason, when the German defenseman suited up in two playoff series for the Mississauga Hounds. World Peace Jr was ecstatic after the game six win, thanking the coaching staff for their precise work in this series: "I think we got out to a magnificient start, but our concentration slipped a bit midway through the series. Coach Fish set us straight, made us watch a lot of film to identify unnecessary errors and erronous patterns. He gave us quite the scolding, but I think it worked out quite well. Now we have to keep our focus and concentration up as we move on to the next opponent. We're doing well defensively and should rely on that going forward."

+10 Ron World Peace Jr

If there's one thing that springs to attention when evaluating Ron World Peace Jr, it's this: He still has a long, long way to go. Right now, any dream of playing in the VHL one day seems to be far-fetched. The San Diego Marlins defenseman has fought his way into the team's rotation, but to say he's making any kind of impact would be stretch at this point and time. If you happen to take a look at the Marlins individual stats, World Peace Jr happens to be last in just about every boxscore category you can possible think of: points, goals, assists, shot conversion rate, hits, etc etc. He only seems to be doing fair in the +/- column and with his 35 shots blocked. "What can I say?", the German said in a media availability session. "Nobody said this was going to be easy. I still have a lot to learn as a hockey player and it's going to take some time for me to get up to par with the rest of the crowd."

1. How much noise do you expect the Marlins to make in the playoffs? 2. How much has the team profited from acquiring a backup goalie for LaFleur? 3. Who has been your most valuable teammate in this year's roster? 4. What needs to change for San Diego to be able to put themselves into a better standings position as we're approaching the later stages of the regular season? 5. Why should non-alcoholic beverages be banned from all gameday diets? 6. If there's one VHL team you'd want to play for, which one would it be?

It took some time for Ron World Peace Jr to really arrive in San Diego. After he left a solid first impression (2 points, 17 hits, 9 shots blocked in 14 games) as a late waiver pickup with the Mississauga Hounds last season, the San Diego Marlins subsequently selected him 19th overall in the S96 VHLM Draft. Because of the outstanding depth San Diego had assembled for the defensemen position, World Peace rarely saw any ice time as he began his tenure with the Marlins. Down on the fourth line, he had to fight for every minute to come his way - but it was also a circumstance that he had personally accounted for. When World Peace arrived the Marlins training camp, he was way out of shape and had tremendous cardio problems. "It was my own wrongdoing," he later revealed once he had fought back his way into the third line. "I got here having taken the summer completely off, and it showed. I just wasn't in game shape at all. The coaches rightfully dealt with it."

The Long & Short of It: "Fisted Anally by a Circus Monkey"

FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY -
It's a cold ass day out here in Mississauga... or are we in Ottawa? Is this the game against Philadelphia? I have honestly lost track of time or reality, stopped counting the days. Hockey is a tough, tough business and I had been prepared that there were tougher days ahead to come. It still feels like a very unsatisfying situation and I'm not even sure if this organization wants me to be here at all. With the way it is now, everybody gets more chances on this team. Hell, even the damned janitor gets more ice time than I do. It's just not a simple thing to deal with but I'm keeping my lips shut. I'm not going to stir up some trouble now. I'm also aware enough to know that I'm a egocentric schmuck who is the least experienced player on this team with the least accolades to show for. It's a matter of being consistent, getting your reps, getting through the mud until brighter days come. And I hope that they will come because they sure have been absent this entire season now. Until that point, I'm like Otis Redding - I'm sitting... sitting at the backend of the bench.

1. The past week hasn't been all too kind but it's just a matter of keeping on. Management will look out for another forward which should do us very well. 2. Definitely gold. It's the color of the champions. 3. Well, hopefully so. I wouldn't pin it all on him, the team played poorly overall. Opponents were specifically targeting him too, that's another thing. Everybody knows what he's capable of and he'll get back to his old form. 4. The NBA 2k franchise has been a stable in my life for an ungodly amount of time now. 5. Anything that's sweet, but nothing sour-sweet. Haribo's! 6. Honestly just this franchise - the fish is named differently in my mother tongue.

After a short stint with the Mississauga Hounds at the end of last regular season, German defenseman Ron World Peace Jr has since been drafted 19th overall by the San Diego Marlins in this summer's VHLM draft. With the Marlins, he is relegated to a much more reduced role at the very back end of the Marlins' bench as the team sports quite the number of more developed defensemen such as the likes of Blaze Thunderstrike or Dustin Moore. While the situation personally isn't all that enjoyable for World Peace Jr, he is aware that these tougher times are the stepping stones he has to overcome in order to ever have a shot of playing in the VHL. Nothing is granted, and playing time has to be earned. "Realistically speaking, I don't think I will ever have a shot at playing in the big league," World Peace Jr said to reporters after the most recent game. "But I would at least like to get a fair chance to showcase my talent in the minor league. Get a shot at it. If that's not happening, I'm more than willing to pack up my bags and go back home to Europe."
