  3. It has been a few weeks since Jarome Iginla was sent back to his new hometown of Calgary, Alberta. Playing with the Calgary Wranglers has become a different experience than it was playing with the Flames, but Iginla seems to be adjusting slowly. Currently 10 games into the VHL season, Iginla sits last among active players on his team with just 7 points (3 goal, 4 assists) These aren’t bad stats for a rookie coming into his first season, but playing on a depleted Calgary team, Jarome had much higher expectations, especially after coming off a 120 point season in the VHLM with the Saskatoon Wild, Jarome had high expectations coming into this depleted Calgary team, as he felt he would be one of the shining stars of the team; just like he was in Saskatoon. He is not. Kez Kincaid, Marcus Hurley and Jakub Linholm have taken the spotlight in Calgary, and really made up for the absence of Jarome Iginla. The season is still quite young, and Iginla has plenty of time to keep training and make up for this early slump. Sources have told us that the former NHL star has already approached the Wranglers GM in search for a demotion, Iginla has been a player that is always very hard on himself, and he did play the whole year in the VHLM with the Saskatoon Wild on the second line. If the Wranglers GM does indeed grant his wish to be demoted, we would see fellow Wranglers rookie Marcus Hurley make the jump to the first line. Hurley has been playing very well with 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) through his 8 games this season. If Iginla does move down to the second line, he would be playing with the team scoring leader Jakub Linholm; who has 17 points in 10 games (9 goals, 8 assists), as well, second in team scoring is left winger Kez Kincaid who has 14 points in 10 games (4 goals, 10 assists). Both of these players have been fun offensive players to watch this season. Slot Iginla in on that line, and you have a sniper, playmaker and a two way forward all on a line together. This Calgary Wranglers team came into S41 of the VHL, not expecting to be playing for a playoff spot, but through 10 games this season, they sit at a comfortable 4-4-2 record. Iginla told us that as much as he likes the team’s success, he wishes he could be a big factor in this success. Iginla may have played his glory days with the Saskatoon Wild in the VHLM, but as he keeps playing VHL games, watch for Iginla to become a more predominant player in the VHL. If he doesn't, Iginla already has told various Calgary media sources that he will suck it up and try to play a different way to prevent goals, and not score them. WRANGLERS 2 GUD
