    1. Well it’s my first couple nights here too I’m not sure what they’ll do but I’m joinin them!
    2. Back when I played highschool hockey my very first year we went into every game knowing we’d get destroyed. I’m used to these games and I get over it pretty quickly.
    3. The only reason I came back to the M this season was to win. I want to win. Sure if we can just barely squeak in to the playoffs I’ll be fine with that. My goal this season is winning.
    4. Oh back when I joined it wasn’t even half of what it was today. The past 3 years have seen huge improvements in the sight and ease of access. When I joined we still had to update our player manually.
    5. Depends really sometimes milkshakes sometimes smoothies and no particular flavour.
    6. A English band called Mumford and sons is my favourite band. Anything by them is my go to.

    1. Well being drafted 7th ovr was a huge shock to me. I’m very happy to get the chance to play for a team that took the chance and drafted me so high.
    2. Well I made a deep playoff run last year with the aces so I think I can bring a lot to the table in terms of experience and leadership.
    3. I’m a true two way defenceman. That’s my goal
    4. just to improve overall. I’m okay if we don’t make a playoff run I just want to improve.
    5. I’m a huge car guy. Love workin on cars and in the summer I’m in a pit crew for my buddy.
    6. Somewhere warm and covid free.

    1. Obviously yknow I’m disappointed. This is a great group of guys.. would’ve loved to get it done with them. Obviously I’m not going to be able to stick around next season so it sucks.
    2. Yknow I was alright. I could’ve been better in the finals to help us push for the cup.
    3. It’s looking like I’ll move up a league but if I don’t I’d love to come back here for another season.
    4. Well this was the only team I wanted to play for this year and it was great.
    5. Can’t watch football. Don’t like it.
    6. I’m boring and haven’t made one

    1. Well we’ve been playin solid hockey in every zone and that’s a big part in our success so far
    2. Well I’ve been putting up a solid number of points and playing well in my own end so I’m happy with my play.
    3. We have to get back to out game. Consistency is a big thing in this game. If we aren’t consistent we’re done.
    4. Gotta go with Shea Weber in his prime. He was a menace and had that booming slap shot.
    5. I don’t have one. Honestly, hockey is the only sport I don’t get bored watching. Sometimes basketball but only when the raptors are decent.
    6. Porks out of the list right away. Steak or chicken is tough. I’d probably have to take steak though

jacobaa19 got a reaction from Shindigs in Review of Doug Matchett
With the playoffs on the horizon I figured it would be a great time to review Doug Matchett’s season and take a look into his future.

Matchett joined the aces a few games into the season and had a slower start then he had hoped for. After finally getting his body to top form he got back on track and helped vegas clinch a playoff spot. Putting up 26 points in 50 games he proved how well he can play in his own end but also how he can help out offensively. With only 4 goals this season matchett’s team of trainers were slightly disappointed. He never scored 5v5 every goal coming from the powerplay, which means he will be a great asset to have on the point for powerplays. Matchett is committed to playing the best of his abilities and wants to improve on his goal scoring for next season and even through these playoffs.

With this season being a shorter one for him he averaged 1 penalty minute a game, he hopes to continue his good behaviour throughout his career and stay out of the box as much as possible. His team chose to play him just around 20 minutes a night, matchett wanted to prove it wasn’t a mistake and he proved he could take the load of being a top defender.

Now let’s take a look at some potential destinations for Matchett. Now it the chances of staying in the VHLM for another season are very slim as he’s already sitting around 160 TPE so it’s looking more and more likely we’ll se him suit up in the VHLE next season. He’s reportedly not heard from any teams quite yet but he’s already heard from a team in the big leagues. Matchett would like to stay in North America if he were given the opportunity but wouldn’t be completely against going over to Europe.
For him he’d like to spend a season in the VHLE on a lower tier team, figuring he can get more minutes and if he stays long enough maybe even less the team to a playoff run.

Doug has 3 teams he would prefer in the VHL Chicago,Toronto, and LA. All are teams that aren’t exactly the top tier teams, one could make an argument for LA. Toronto is closer to home for Doug and with his family and friends so close it’d be perfect for him. They wouldn’t have to rush him into the lineup they can let him play his game in the lower level for a season or two and same goes for Chicago.

when it comes to LA it’s somewhat different they are currently in a position to win but playing against Vancouver and Seattle it’s less likely to have a run in the playoffs. This is one of his top choices because when they were first announced it was instantly his favourite team to watch. The nicest logo the nicest colour scheme. But, if it came to him choosing a team he would place the other two above LA just for the fact he’s be able to make the team and maybe even work his way up the lineup quicker.

Doug is looking to go on a deep playoff run and win the cup. He’s stated that anything less would be considered a failure to him. However in anyone else’s eyes this has been a successful season for him, joining the team late, missing out on training camp and conditioning. He finished the season a lot better than how he started it. It’s looking like the beginning of a promising career for this blue liner, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

Dough matchett started playing hockey when he was 15 years old. He was very late to the game but, he’s been proving he can still compete even at the age of 37. He didn’t start taking hockey seriously until just a year or two ago. His original goal was to race with the big guys. A horrible wreck is what sent him to hockey a much less dangerous sport. He was top of his division but one brutal mistake took him completely out of racing.

Matchett was an exceptional hockey player putting up points and playing stellar defence. HIs size put fear into his opposition. He played for his local junior B team the Wolfpack having a total of 24 games played and 5 goals and 30 assists. He only played 24 games due to a pandemic shortened season and that’s when he decided he would declare for the VHL.

with Matchetts size his speed and agility were huge questions. Even when he was playing in junior B it was an issue. He’s been training and conditioning himself to get up to the speed of the big leagues and he hopes to make an impact at this level. His discipline also was question as he led his team in PIMS averaging over 4 minutes per game, he was very hotheaded but now states he has his temper under control and it should not be an issue. So far this season he is right his temper has not been an issue at all.

when he decided to join the VHLM he knew which team he wanted to join. The team that had a hot start to the season, Las Vegas. He held out until he got the offer he wanted and he got it.

through 28 games he only has 10 points but he has been a rock on the blue line. Laying the body and has a +5 on the season. Currently projected to go in the early 30’s he hopes to impress teams enough to take him at a higher position.

This player is a defensive presence that can help out offensively from time to time. His offence will become much better as time goes on and so will his defensive game. This season he was hoping to show how well he can play in his own end and it is very clear he has done that. With this being is first season we wonder what else he will do in his career.

    3. without him we would not be in this situation so I’m very glad to have one of the top goalies in the league.
    4. I’ll be honest I’m not familiar with many other guys around the league
    5. that’s actually a really good question. I kinda want to be more active so we’ll go with that.

1 I’m gonna have to go with either speed or scoring. I wanna be a fast player in this league and I’d also really like to up my points
2 well joining the team late like I did, I had some high expectations and this team has really surpassed them.
3 well I’m not putting the puck in the net as much as I’d like to but I can put that off as me being a rookie. I’m playing solid D so I’m happy
4 me. But seriously both of our goalies are unreal we wouldn’t be in this situation without them.
5 I’m not really sure.. maybe Yukon Cornelius

    Hello there,

As of today, claims made under the James Platts Welfare Program or VHL Pension Plan can be automatically claimed on the Portal in a similar fashion to Practice Facility. These claims are not required to be approved by updater's and TPE will be awarded immediately.

Note: The Portal automatically determines pension eligibility by looking at a user's past and current players. Some older, returning members may find they are only offered 4 TPE - this is due to previous players not existing on the Portal or not being linked to their user account. If this is the case, contact an admin or commissioner and we will manually approve you for the pension plan.

Claims made under the VHL Partnership Plan with SBA and EFL are not quite as automated, but a post in a weekly welfare thread is no longer required. These claims can be made directly in the Portal by using the new "Affiliate PT" option under "Claim Capped" and linking to your PT on SBA or EFL. These claims will continue to be reviewed and approved by updater's.

Full claiming instructions and eligibility requirements can be found here.

At this time, there is no changes to the monthly Affiliate Check program and those will continue to require posting in a monthly thread.
