  1. 1. We're trying new strategies, looked at multiple line combinations, and I think things are just clicking now. The basis of the Legions strategy is to support Hextall more, and not as offensively oriented as we were before. 2. Strip clubs, obviously, but for real... I haven't gotten out much, COVID and all. 3. Playing the game and training is more than enough to stay in shape, it's winding down and allowing the body to rest that's more important. Grab a controller and play some games, you'll come back prepared when your wellbeing isn't constantly being stressed. 4. Vancouver is sticking out like a sore thumb. For a team that just drafted their entire core, being the top team in the NA Conference -- for the moment -- is certainly surprising. 5. Assuming the league does a 1/1 split to 18 teams, I'd have to assume some NHL cities would be included into the NA Conference, maybe Boston or Montreal? Obviously, given their championship at the NHL level, Tampa Bay might be interesting too. 6. As the GM, I always believe there is more I could do, so I eagerly await some more responses to this question.
  2. TORONTO, ONTARIO -- If anyone were to say it was an unfortunate start for the Toronto Legion... we would hope people would agree with those making the claims. The Legion were tossed away, called out, and forgotten about after their abysmal 1-9-1 start to season seventy four and for good reason. The on ice product fans received was irritatingly uncharacteristic of an otherwise 'strong on paper' roster, but perhaps the Legion were biting off more than they could metaphorically chew. Now, however, the Legion have regrouped into one of the hottest teams in the Victory Hockey League. Every player is contributing, everyone is playing their roles, and the entire team is supporting one another both on the ice and away from the rink. An impressive 16-5-2 record, the best record in the North American conference since the first eleven games, has propelled them into a playoff position the roster hopes to keep secured. Scoring has come from nearly every angle, players are rising up to new challenges, and newcomers are starting to blend in well with the new identity the Legion are merging into. The Legion of late weren't the Legion of early, and we're excited to see how far this team climbs.
  3. @Beketov S69 SSK vs. S74 HFX best of seven sim needs to happen now, I reckon, obviously using the end of season TPA.
  4. Honestly... I would love an opportunity like this, so I'd like to express my interest in this open position. Before I start, though, I want to take a moment and show my appreciation to @Sonnet for stepping up into the role while he was there. Allow me to continue, I feel I have what it takes to be a commissioner in the VHLM, and I've been around the league for quite a while now in various management roles already. I work well with @diamond_ace and our combined interactions as VHL GMs has allowed us to develop a solid working foundation. Cheers.
  5. I'd like to apply for team Canada, I'd love the opportunity to lead the Canadians back to gold!
  6. I apologize for the late press conference. 1. Toronto went 1-9-1 to start the season, but is 3-1-0 in their last four, do you think the tables have turned? 2. Chad Magnum had six points in one of Toronto's four wins, what do you think about that accomplishment? 3. Rookie Merrick is doing well in the VHL so far, do you think he has a shot at the top rookie award? 4. Do you believe Toronto is starting to become underestimated? 5. Do you think there's a chance Toronto could climb back into a playoff picture? 6. The Legion have played the least amount of games than any other team so far, yet others have three more games, how do you feel about this seemingly lopsided scheduling?
  7. TORONTO, ONTARIO -- The Toronto Legion are currently 1-9-1 to begin the season seventy four campaign, and it's something that is bothering some members of the team. "We're capable of so much more," claimed Legion defender Erik Killinger. "We've been close the majority of the games, just can't seem to turn a lead into a victory or push while we're behind one. I think we're playing good, most of us have reasonable stats too, maybe it's just bad luck." GM Peace is one of the more frustrated individuals on the team. "We've changed tactics, lines, had a father visit the locker room on Sunday... Oh lord, grant our team success, and soon." This is the second time in Peace's career as the general manager of the Toronto Legion his team has gone ten straight games (or more) with the opposing team skating away with a victory. It's a blemish on his record that'll never be deleted, and one he's certainly upset about, but the Legion recovered last time and clinched a playoff spot that went the full series against the Calgary Wranglers.
  8. D - Guy Saskamoose @diamond_ace That's the draft!
  9. 1. As a defender, I worked hard at improving my game, hoping to help the Legion advance further than we got last season. Our 1-4-1 start isn't that impressive, but I'm confident the hard work we all put in during the off season will come through when we need it the most. 2. I'm a task oriented player, give me an objective to complete and I'll do my best to achieve it. 3. I thought it was an excellent draft for the Legion. 4. Mostly discipline. 5. Absolutely! 6. Toronto could use an updated logo, honestly. It's simple, basic, but nothing really 'pops out' at you.
  10. Saskatoon has roots all the way back to S2, when the team was originally based in Fresno!

  12. No worries, if you can’t let me know and I’ll send in new lines with bot placement for you to swap Blaze and Daldo with.
  13. Also signed Daldo a few minutes ago, so would it be possible to upload a new index early AM and I’ll send lines in during morning coffee? Would actually make it easier for you I’d reckon, If not I can just do the bot thing, lot of movement though.
  14. @Beketov Toronto claimed Jeff Blaze yesterday and he didn't get into the roster at all, just letting you know.
  15. ERIK KILLINGER | D TORONTO LEGION A lot has changed for me since I joined the league as a rookie: I completely changed who I was for the betterment of my team, so things have certainly been interesting. My rookie season was different from a lot of other upcoming veterans, and there's probably a ton of change coming in the future too. You see, I joined the Legion in season seventy one as a winger, and I did alright. I didn't win the top rookie award like I had hoped, but I think I did alright, and I was poised to become -- in my opinion -- a dangerous forward for Toronto. I still think of how effective Magnum and I could have been, and now that you're tossing in McDagg or Merrick... what could have been, right? Wasn't meant to be. That off season I switched to defense for the club, it was a weakness that the skipper couldn't reliably address so I stepped up and said 'alright, I'll do it' and that's basically how it went. I spent the entire off season essentially rewriting myself, as if this chapter in my career was a legitimate novel someone was writing. I had the rough edges of a defender already, the talent I should say to play the position, just not the knowledge. My identity as a player never really changed, I still like to generate offense, just from afar now I suppose. What I really had to do was buckle down and learn some defensive awareness, and maybe some discipline. Another thing that rookie Killinger wouldn't have anticipated compared to today would be the physicality. I was never someone to lay down a check if it meant stopping a play, but as a defensemen, that's something I find myself doing frequently. One thing I felt like I was doing better as a rookie was discipline, I understand the more physical you get the more penalties you'll receive or draw, but I've become... almost careless, or complacent, and it's bugging me. Although my identity as a hockey player hasn't shifted too much, my priorities as one certainly has. As a forward -- depending on what type of forward you are -- you're thinking mostly about offense; generating scoring opportunities, creating rebounds, keeping the puck in the attacking zone, stuff like that are constantly on a forwards mind. As a defender I find myself focusing on different areas of a hockey game, my priorities aren't just in the offensive zone anymore, my priorities are to play as best I can in all three zones of the ice. In the offensive zone I toss the puck towards the net, pass it to anyone who is open, and try to keep the puck in. Sounds normal, right, but it's when that puck is chipped into the neutral zone I've got to bet back and try to stop them from getting access to our zone. Checking, strong stick play, positioning myself between the carrier and a potential receiver, blocking a shot so Hextall doesn't have too. It's a whole other aspect of the game I never really thought about before. I'll wrap it up there though. Killinger out.
  16. My AGM pointed out that this is the reverse trade. Originally, Yukon received Rocket in a trade for the same picks, and is now trading Rocket back to Miami for the picks they traded him for. Ricer and MexicanCow practically reversed the trade, or at least that's how it appears. Good investigative work, @Dtayl.

  18. That's actually not true. I broke down the TPA per position, and had Toronto received just one of the available defenders we would have been competitive with even Seattle after moving Elmebeck to the wing for six forwards. I broke this down and explained it to numerous free agents, but I guess that was simply not enough. Quite frustrating, actually, all Toronto needed was that one person to join and we'd have been a much better team.

  20. Is this player always destined to be nothing more than an alternate or acting captain? Four pips is just too much for h- er, I'm not a nerd.
  21. TORONTO, ONTARIO -- The Toronto Legion have finally released the name of the individual who was hired on an assistant general manager. Dylan Nguyen steps up into the management scene after a short stint as Saskatoon's boss back in the season sixties. The hiring comes weeks after releasing their previous AGM from his duties quite some time ago, a dismissal that left GM Peace in the dumps. The process was slow... as was the motivation to hire on another individual for the Legions' front office, but it finally happened in the classic UNO fashion. GM Peace essentially just played the reverse card on Dylan Nguyen, the man who hired him for his original role as the assistant GM of the Saskatoon Wild back in season sixty three. "It's iconic, not ironic." GM Peace stated. "Irony would be him replacing me as Toronto's GM by the playoffs, this is iconic because I'm acknowledging my roots and hiring my former boss into the franchise I now manage. I'm excited to have him here, I know what he is capable of, and if this move helps him get his foot back into the door of managing a hockey club I'm all for it." "My time in Saskatoon was great, but unfortunate at the same time. Dylan gave me the roots I needed to become the GM of the Wild, but he himself got a little to busy in his personal life to manage the team, so the VHLM dismissed him from his duties. I'm hoping I can help him now, maybe shed some light when a spot opens up. Either way, as I said, I'm glad to have him here in Toronto."
  22. He learned from the best when I signed Killinger to Saskatoon.
