1) We're now a few games into the regular season, what are your thoughts on how your team has done to this point of the season? Its went about how i expected, despite being defending champions this season is more of a rebuild type year so the middle is meeting expectations 2) What are your thoughts on your own performances? Not very good so far. My plus minus is worse than last season where we were dead last but scoring more goals than I thought but less assists 3) What's been your favourite game to this point of the season? Scoring 2 goals against my former team Saskatoon Wild. 4) With the World Juniors being announced to return this season, how excited are you at the prospect of potentially representing your country? I would love to make it but I'm currently the 7th ranked D in Europe. Maybe I can play for the world team as they are short on D. 5) We're currently working on creating a more up to date video tutorial to help people around the site, if there's anything you're currently unclear of or something that took you a while to pick up that you'd like to see mentioned in the tutorial, what would it be? How to claim Special TPE tasks as that was confusing at first. 6) I do a tag for you when I post new press conference questions, would you like that whenever a new point task opportunity arises? Yes, it reminds me that there are TPE opportunities.

Paolo Nano entered completed his first ever training camp last week with Riga Reign after being drafted by the team in the third round, 19th overall. “It was such an honour to be drafted by the reign in the third round. I hope to make the team as soon as possible and will work extremely hard this year to try make that a reality next year. I had a great time at training camp and learned alot.” Nano went through the typical rookie camp process where they teach prospects on how to be a Pro. Players are shown things like how to properly fuel their bodies on game days and how vital it is for players to take care of their bodies. Long gone are the days were players showed up to camp out of shape and used the camp as a way to get their bodies physically ready for the long season ahead. Nano was the first name called by the Oslo Storm in the Season 61 VHLM Draft going 18th overall. “I am very excited to have joined the defending champs. They have proven last season that they are a great franchise and I welcome the chance to defend the title. Teams always want to take out the reigning title holders and that will only help motivate me to bring my A game every single night. I went 19th overall in the VHL draft so things are improving for me " said Nano with a grin. The Storm are the opposite of Nano’s former VHL team the Saskatoon Wild who finished in the basement last year. Nano played a total of 28 games in his short stint with the Wild last year. Its always difficult to join a struggling team midway through the season but Nano made the most of it as it allowed him to get some playing time that he may not have received with a better team. “The constant losing made for a long season for a lot of the guys. I only played 28 games but I am thankful to the Wild for giving me the chance to start my VHLM Career. There are some great guys on that team and I wish them all the best this season when they play the rest of the league but I hope we crush them every game.” said Nano. Nano used the off season to work on his skating and passing ability. “ I know that in today's game you need to be able to skate so that was my main area of focus in the offseason. I feel much quicker than I did at the end of the last season but I still need to improve that area of the game. Nano also spent some time working on his offensive ability. “My goal this season is to become more involved in the attack. Last year I only scored one goal and although I look to pass more than shoot, that's something that I need to work on if I want to be getting minutes on the Power Play. My goal this season is to try and develop a better shot from the point so that I can open up more space for my teammates as the forwards won't be able to collapse down low knowing that I can’t shoot at all. The new season is finally here and it will be interesting to follow the progress of Nano as he begins his first full season as a professional hockey player.

My favourite moment so far is signing with the Saskatoon Wild and then writing up my players rookie profile.

Name:Paolo Nano Position: Defense Age: 24 Height: 6'2" Weight: 210 lbs Birth Place: Bolzano, Italy Paolo Nano is an Italian player , born in Bolzano Italy, where father played 8 seasons becoming a club legend in a career that took him all over Europe. He grew up in Italy after his father fell in love with the country and married and Italian girl. Paolo would spend a lot of time in dressing rooms as a youngster and developed a strong love for the game. He has played his whole career in the Bolzano system. He always dreamed of one day playing professional hockey in the hockey mad country where his father was born. That dream became a reality when he signed for the Saskatoon Wild. Here are the Pros and Cons about Paolo Nano Pros Skating His skating ability allows him to make up for any mistakes he may make. He poses a great first step that allows him to quickly get up to top speed to either join the rush or to get back in position after a terrible pinch. Defense One of Nano’s strengths is his intelligence. He makes up for his lack of physicality by having great awareness in his own zone and constantly being in the right position to break up plays. He also has a great stick which allows him to break up passes and poke check his opponents efficiently. He is also able to get into the shooting lane to block shots Passing Nano has a great outlet pass allowing his team to have a quick breakout. He posses a great ability to find an open teammate and is able to make passes into a tight window. He is always looking to pass first and shoot second. Cons Checking/physicality He is not a physical player. He can sometimes play scared and get intimidated when the play becomes physical. He relies on positioning and stick work to make up for the lack of a physical element to his game. Shot/Scoring He doesn’t have a great shot. He is hesitant to take the shot and always looks for the pass first. This can sometimes lead to trouble as defenders look to take away the passing lanes. He has the ability to become an elite PP Dman if he improves on his willingness and ability to shoot the puck. Leadership Having grown up in Italy, Nano is adjusting to living in a new continent and as such he tends to just remain silent in the room. He is very shy and reserved off the ice but still enjoys hanging out with the team, he just doesn't say much. Potential Nano is a smooth skating skilled puck moving defenseman from Italy. He is able to make a great first pass to help start the breakout. He is a great skater who is strong defensively and can become a great 2 way defender who can run one day run a PP.
