  5. Scouting Report Artem Tretiak is a goalie that currently plays for the Houston Bulls in the Victory Hockey League Minor system. Tretiak was drafted 50th overall in the Season 74 VHLM draft by the Yukon Rush. This was after playing out the previous season for the Saskatoon Wild, who picked him up on waivers after joining the VHLM. Tretiak saw no ice time for the Wild in his first season, focusing mostly on recovery and in getting in playing shape once again. The Wild were helpful in that respect, but then he was drafted and headed off to Yukon. For the Rush, Tretiak played in one game off the bench, so we didn't get much of a view of him in net. So far, after moving to the Houston Bulls, he has played in three more games. So, with that said, the ice time isn't as useful to gauging the talent level of Tretiak as compared to the VHLM. However, in those four games, Tretiak picked up a win in one, two losses and a no decision in another. He has a 0.918% save percentage, a 2.15 goals against average and has saved 90 of 98 shots against him. In short, he's played decently. Pros: Tretiak has years of experience on the ice. He's 35 years old and has spent his career playing in Russia, so his experience should help him and help his teammates in a number of ways. He's also a rather balanced goalie, having skills in a number of areas. His well-rounded nature should help him regardless of the situation, as he features decent size and agility in net, handles rebounds well and is good with both his hand and the stick. His reaction time is also not too bad given his age. Tretiak has also shown to be a consistent worker, constantly trying to better himself and get back to his all-world talent levels that he showcased for over a decade in Russia. That drive could help propel him to that level once more. Cons: Tretiak is old, and age shows no mercy. He may just not be able to get back to his previous abilities as his body continues to get less reliable and dependable. This could pose major problems. He's also not very great at fielding penalty shots, given that he hasn't faced that many in his career. He's not the best skater, preferring instead to stay in-net and not chase the puck near the net. Due to only playing for mostly one team, and in Russia, he's not considered the best leader in the locker room in the VHLM. Tretiak could be a good piece as he continues to develop, or his body may just not let him get back to that level.

  7. Tretiak to Join VHL Artem Tretiak, the Russia goalie, has entered the Victory Hockey League Minors, reads the ticker at the bottom of the screen. ESPN reports that the 35 year old veteran is taking his talents to the Victory Hockey League, finally leaving his native home and declaring for a more worldwide hockey experience. Friends, family, analysts and experts all agree, "It's about time." That's the overwhelming sentiment for fans of Tretiak, who has played for a decade and a half in Russia throughout his career. Though he will be seen as a new face, a rookie, even a prospect, the veteran is on the backside fo 30 and may not have much left in the tank. Throughout his twenties, Tretiak was a staple of Russian hockey. He sat in net for hundreds of games and saved thousands of would be goals. He was as reliable as a well-tuned time piece. You could count on him to be in the right position, at the right time, every day of the week. When he hit his thirties, it looked like that dominance would continue forever, as he kept up his all-world quality play for a few more seasons. Then, however, it started to slip away. First, there was an injury. Tretiak broke his leg during an offseason incident - a horrible snowmobile accident. The recovery was tough, and it took a lot out of Tretiak. By the time he was ready to be back on the ice, it had been over a year of workouts, physical therapy and mental preparation. The country was ready for him to be back in action - but he failed, miserably. His performance was poor and his mental state was even worse. He had been at the top and to be back at the bottom was too much. He spiraled. For the first time in his career, his original team wanted no part of Artem, and he was let go from the roster. Most teams wanted nothing to do with him, so he ended up on a bottom-feeder, essentially serving as a marketing ploy. However, it was here that Tretiak began to play himself back into form a bit. His confidence grew and suddenly it looked like he might be back to his elite ways. Then, it happened. He broke his leg, again. This time it was on the ice, and it wasn't pretty. He retired from the sport, entered into another recovery process. But the itch was still there, so Tretiak came out of retirement - only to find that no one wanted the aging veteran after a second major injury. So, he stayed retired until he got a call from an agent in the VHL. They said he should give it a try, try to revitalize his career. So he has. He's here. Who knows if he will be able to turn back the clock any, but he's going to give it a try.

  10. I'll handle the two in February now. I never saw them. I'd imagine they were a first offense. Some of your examples are from people not in our league or banned from our Discord ha. That Cold-Blooded guy is the one with 80% of any version of the N word, and he's not in our league/banned from Discord. The uses of the R word are largely Gorlab. Again, more reason he's not in our league. Thanks for the reminder. I think it's relatively telling that you have to dig into the past to find much, much of which has been dealt with. Like I said, I'll handle the February issue immediately.
  11. 100% honest? In its former state, it's a mild convenience for a small section of the member base. It is certainly not crucial to either side, the way it was. It basically just lets a handful of people claim a PT in another league and for the most part, that option is still there via EFL. A more robust partnership, such as the one the SBA and EFL have, would be more beneficial down the road.
  12. @Devise short of responding to your novel, a discussion is happening with the VHL administration - that's really all that can be done at this point. I assume they included the people they wanted in it, and that's why we aren't having this discussion in public. I'm trying to avoid the back and forth nonsense that has led to a lot of the issues to begin with. Otherwise I'd respond more in full.
  13. To be clear, though I have not been in the discussions (I have stayed out of them since November), Beketov has been told on multiple occasions that in no way is the SBA suggesting, demanding, or asking for anyone to be fired. Much less Victor lol.
  14. eh, nvm. What's done is done.
  15. Here's the full message: --- If you'd like further context, there have been a handful of discussions that have happened - I've stayed out of them for the most part and let the BOD handle them, or the people that Beketov has reached out to. With that being said, we've gone in circles for a few months, like Beketov said, and I never saw anything that warranted a serious revisit of our decision. So I decided to save everyone the time. Let's be honest - there is no partnership here, and there wasn't before. We weren't working together - we were just giving people credit for being on the other site. I championed the partnership to begin with in the hopes of building something bigger than all of our individual leagues, a true community and not just a collection of separate parts. We're focusing on actual partnerships that benefit both sides. The VHL made a lot of good decisions in the aftermath of the split and I commend them for that. But, Beketov is being a bit disingenuous to say that we didn't come to actually discuss the situation. We were clear about the things we saw as issues and were repeatedly told that identifying them meant we weren't willing to negotiate. Well, that's just not true. We just thought, given the situation, that people shouldn't be going around the VHL's own code of conduct and continuing to make a mockery of the entire situation. In fact, I sent this message as a direct response to a message we received from Beketov, in which he expressed a similar sentiment. Specifically, he said "I think it might just be time to accept our differences and say we’ll revisit this far down the line but right now it just doesn’t seem likely. I don’t like it but I can’t keep knocking just to have a door slammed in my face and I don’t think it’s reasonable to assume everyone is gonna play nicely when they are constantly told it’s not enough and isn’t going to be." For context: a couple of SBA admins had identified a number of members (including VHL admins) continuing to mock the SBA and our position around the use of slurs as problems we wanted to resolve before resuming any sort of affiliation. As I understand it, Bek asked to be notified of instances when this occurred. SBA admins pointed out these instances and received the above response (original is much longer), which essentially told us that doing what he had asked meant we'd clearly never change our decision (again, not true). Given that this type of "discussion" has been going on for months, I agreed that it wasn't worth either side's time. We felt like the VHL shouldn't have administration publicly shitting on a potential partner, Beketov thought that was unreasonable to ask. That's why we are where we are. I'm not here to admire my handy work @Beketov, just providing some context for those curious. As a member with a HoF player, a spectacular run as GM (a three-peat, the first and only of it's kind) and long-time relationships with a lot of the members here (some of which aren't even in the SBA), my goal was never to sever this relationship for some personal issues. I'd have thought better of those of you who seem to believe that. I've built and ran leagues with @Doomsday and you Bek. I got my start in leagues with @Advantage. I guess your opinion of me is much lower than mine was of you. I'm sorry to hear that.
  16. Your team sucks and so do you as a person. Cheers mate.
