  1. Ever since Richards and Carter were traded to LA, I try to catch a couple Kings games every year. Thanks to Brandon (I think that's who it was), I'll be able to catch more than usual this year. I have no idea what Holmgren is going to do, and that's for better or for worse. Also, Snider will never give Holmgren "the boot." Either during or after the season, Holmgren will "step down into a scouting role" and presumably Hextall will become the next GM. While I hope Hextall will be able to change the way the Flyers approach team defense and young players (more towards how L.A. did it when he was Ass. GM), I doubt the Flyers Mentality will change until Snider is no longer owner of the team. During Berube's introductory press conference, a reporter (full disclosure: One of our many dumbass reporters more interested in covering the Flyers like TMZ than actual hockey) asked Snider about hiring outside the Flyers Family and something about a culture change. Snider replied rather snidely "What culture change? We don't need a culture change." For those who don't know, Snider is basically the Al Davis of the NHL. Also, as the fans in Montreal now know, Briere was hardly a star when he left. While he put up some great years in Philly, his offensive creativity was basically non-existant last season and he killed every line he was on both offensively and defensively. There is no reason for the team to be in the mix for Miller. Mason has been absolutely spectacular thus far. Without him, there's a real possibility that the team would have 1 win this year, and that's the 1 game in which we've managed to score more than 3 goals. Hell, even our defense has been at least above average every night minus the Caps game. This team's failures are on the offense plain and simple. Giroux isn't getting it done, Schenn has no hockey I.Q. whatsoever, Hartnell and Simmonds are redundant on the same team and both have been awful. Couturier looks like a tall, gangly, 20 year old kid who needs to fill out in order for his offensive game to come around. Kimmo Timonen's play has absolutely fallen off of a cliff this year. While we're at it, I have no idea why we're playing Andrej Meszaros (AWFUL) and Hal Gill (who's been okay, not great) over Gustaffson (honestly one of our best d-men so far this year, which is both good and bad) and L. Schenn, who hasn't been great this year, but hasn't been awful either.
  2. Can't you at least trade me to Nashville or something?
  3. These Flyers games lately have been brutal to watch. Just nothing going on.
  4. I could easily do it but I'm not because I hate having a beard.
  5. Any idea on when the VHLM will be updated?
  6. Content: 3/3 - As long as Jones keeps putting in the work, the points will come. Being behind Taylor on the depth chart is also hurting you right now, as winger depth in Cologne could be identified as a weakness of the team. Like I said though, the hard work will result in individual success eventually. Grammar: 2/2 - Solid. with is production = with his production Appearance: .75/1 - Needs a little bit more. No biggie though. Overall: 5.75/6 FINAL: 6/6
  7. Content: 3/3 - A good look at making a case for numerous new names for the different VHLM awards. I think it'd be hard to complain too much about any of the above players and general managers having an award named after them, as they are all great individuals. Part 1 and Part 2 of this series were very enjoyable reads. Grammar: 2/2 - Nope. Appearance: 1/1 - Yep. Overall: 6/6 REAL FINAL: 6/6
  8. Content: 3/3 - A nice take on the forward group for the Express. Cologne has had an interesting start to their existence in the VHL. Hopefully this group of players can propel themselves farther than the original group and achieve some playoff success. Grammar: 1.75/2 - A somewhat long list of issues, but they are all minor and don't repeat themselves. Depth-Forward = Depth forward Express Franchise = Express franchise on the teams = on the team's effective, Reggie = effective. Reggie Appearance: 1/1 - Solid as usual. Overall: 5.75/6 FINAL: 6/6
  9. Content: 3/3 - It seems like Ball Jr. has gone through the highs and lows that come with being a highly touted prospect at a young age. Hopefully this rekindled dedication to become the best player Ball Jr. can be will allow Sebastian to rise to the top. Grammar: 2/2 - Yep. Appearance: 1/1 - Solid. Overall: 6/6 FINAL: 6/6
  10. Content: 3/3 - What do you mean Jim's numbers won't put him up with the greats of all-time? On a more serious note, cancer sucks, and what it can do to an individual's body is awful. Hopefully this horrible condition can be eradicated some day. Grammar: 2/2 - Just a couple minor things. season 34 = Season 34 Joey while managing the expansion Cologne Express had = While managing the expansion Cologne Express, had tragedy struck = tragedy strike Appearance: 1/1 - Solid. Overall: 6/6 Final: 6/6
  11. Or you could just highlight the text and click the link button.
  12. Nick Foles 7 TDs so far. Needs 1 more to break the record for most TDs in a game.
  13. Am I the only one who likes formatting on this site more than the last site?
  14. Nice! Should make for an interesting read.
  15. Tomorrow a PM will be sent to those who applied.
  16. I'm visiting the girlfriend this weekend, so I haven't been able to properly respond to this, but Squinty already covered a lot of what I was going to say. I am aware that grading (specifically writing grading) was going at a snail's pace. When I became HG, I PMed all of the current graders in order to see what they thought their grading level would be in order to gauge where we were after the move. After PMing everyone, I thought we were well covered. Obviously that hasn't been the case, but things come up in real life that obviously need to be taken care of before activities like the VHL. I wanted to give the current grading team the opportunity to get to the grading level I thought they would be at, but obviously that hasn't been the case. With the amount of discussion about the lack of grading, I figured there would be a healthy amount of applicants in order to become a writing grader. While I think the current applicants are definitely qualified, I figured there would be a larger pool of applicants to choose from given the number of people usually interested in getting a job in the league. Kendrick, I appreciate your dedication towards making sure the VHL is running smoothly and understand that grading being done in a timely fashion is important for a number of reasons, but you're wrong on a couple points. Doom has been great recently, but he literally just started grading again the other day. I knew he was busy before hand, so this wasn't a problem. Before Doom went on a grading spree, Toast did a great job towards the beginning of the season, but shit happens in real life that needs to be taken care of, so his grading dropped off recently. Others have graded off and on, some more than I expected and some less than I expected. After these hires, the grading roster will be updated with both additions and subtractions, and measures will be taken in order to reward consistent grading. Again, appreciate the concern, but let me do my job.
