After starting off the season with a 5-3 loss to the Bern Royals, the Ottawa Lynx have won 6 of their last 7, netting themselves 12 points and a tie for most points in the VHLM. Leading the way have been offensive defenseman Matt Rielly (9-5-14), center Frederik Ernst (2-12-14), and stud defenseman Connor Low (6-7-14). While captain Brennan McQueen was off to a slow start with only 1 point in his first 4 games, the second year player has picked up his play of late, scoring 5 goals and netting 2 assists in the 4 most recent games. Between the pipes, rookie Mike Szatkowski Jr. has been good enough for the team to succeed. With a .885 save percentage and 3.10 goals against average, Szatkowski Jr. has kept his team in every game.
One player off to a somewhat slow start is winger Robert Gow III. With only 4 assists to his name so far, the son of VHL retiree Austin Gow has performed below expectations so far. Known as a sniper, it’s extremely odd that RGIII is the only Ottawa regular without a goal so far.
