  2. Oh look I have that NFT too! Also the fact that the website takes HALF of the money you're paid for it is ridiculous.

  4. I don't make fun of anyone to hurt them, and when I do make fun of someone it's because I consider them a friend and I know they can take a joke. I make fun of Dil a lot. Interpret that however you'd like. 2 (I guess? Last post was a 1 so this is the next integer after that)

  9. YES. It's not super difficult to learn guitar on a basic level (and that's all you need to play more songs than you think). Really any instrument you want is cool. I also like writing music. Recording software is cool (and something worth exploring) on its own, but I know more about theory and composition than I do about recording, so I use a (free!) program called Musescore that's used for making sheet music. If you can learn even the most basic music theory (example: you have a melody that you wrote in the key of G; what chords do you use under it, where do you use them, and why?) it's fun to mess around with that and see what you can make. I don't know how much you know about these things, so I apologize if it seems like I'm assuming you know nothing, but the Berklee School of Music has some great online resources if you're looking to get started.
  10. @Beaviss spent all this time getting buff and couldn't teach his players to use it smh
  11. And I will NOT REST until it has pended
  12. Taro would have held the Vancouver team record and I've never been in the running for a Boulet...so yeah it's a tiny bit low. It's still an accomplishment--and good luck hitting 2K! With the way you've been hitting the past few seasons it's not impossible.
  13. My questions came with the first choice already selected. It isn't necessarily the correct one (it was correct once and incorrect once) but just mentioning that as a bug. Other than that I like it!
  14. I'm surprised the team record is that low tbh. Not that you haven't played well, of course, but there are players with over 2000 hits for their career.
  15. Yeah, I think I have a problem. I don't want to write unless I find it interesting, and if I find it interesting I tend to go off about it...at least no one has to make sure I'm hitting the word counts
  16. Has there ever been a war between two major nuclear powers? I don't believe so. This would have the potential to be the worst war the world has ever seen if we just jump right into it--the US has the world's second-largest nuclear arsenal, and Russia has the largest. Either is big enough to change the world hugely and permanently if things escalate to that extent. I like to think leaders on both sides genuinely recognize that, but there's also quite the dilemma involved--tell Russia you're going to push back if they invade, and if they do invade, they'll be fully prepared to fight you too. Putin has total control over there, and he's shown before that he's dangerous. We can't just chalk this up as another "oh darn, North Korea is threatening to nuke us again" thing because Russia is far more powerful. But could this just be another Cuban Missile Crisis situation where Russia piles up what they have right next to someone and then backs down when they feel their message has been sent? Also possibly. I don't think this turns into a full-blown WW3, but Putin already invaded Crimea and I can't say I'd be surprised to hear that he's back for Round 2. We'll also (at least not in the US) never see the sheer level of involvement we used to see in wars--technology has changed a ton and it's much safer and more effective for the people attacking to call in an airstrike than to get as many troops on the ground at once. If--and I will specify if--the US gets involved, I don't think we'll see anyone getting drafted because there are just more effective ways to do it than to throw millions of people into the territory you want to protect (and this is coming from someone who REALLY would not like to be drafted). Also for this reason, it's going to be harder to occupy a territory. Ukraine is pretty big and keeping enough people in the right places for long enough to take control would be extremely difficult if there's significant pushback. It's for these reasons that I consider it unlikely that Russia would ever take (or even attempt to take) the entire country, but that doesn't mean they won't invade somewhere to take a chunk out or prove some point. I don't know anything about diplomacy and I'm completely uneducated on warfare and things like that, so don't take anything I'm saying as fact. It's just how I perceive the situation currently.
  17. It's certainly been up and down, but I'm no stranger to awful sim luck. Hoping we find something that works consistently. It's been interesting. I scored more goals and got fewer assists than I should have last season, but this season seems to be the opposite. My point total is doing great, though! It always seems like the first handful of sims are super high-scoring for some reason. I don't think that comes down much this season with the huge lack of defense around the league, but it's interesting to see what number inflation does. I kind of got shot down for saying this the other day, but I think the mods should represent the community. There seems to be a difference between what the mod team sees as an ideal community and what the community itself sees as an ideal community. Ideally, those should be the same thing, but oh well...I've written up a ton about it so I'll just leave it at that. My high school would sell roses every Valentine's Day and I'd sit there every year wondering if anyone would buy me one and being disappointed when no one did. But practically no one ever bought them, and if they did it was just for whoever they were dating, so I shouldn't have made a big deal out of it (and the way I thought of it was pretty selfish too). These days I don't really care but cringey high school me did. If the season ended today, DC would be in the playoffs over us. If that happens at the end of the season (it won't), we need to switch sim engines.
  18. I'm on the update train early this week, because I'm the usual mix between bored and unwilling to do anything productive with my life, so I figure it's better to put out an article than to sit around staring at the wall. At least that's a better unproductive thing to do. Looking at my TPE, and what I have now, and what I'll earn by the end of my career, I'll be able to fight off depreciation just about completely by the time the trade deadline rolls around, and my build will be exactly what I want it to be at that point. But, that will come with less TPE than I thought I'd end up with. My last player, Jerry Garcia, retired with 1541 TPE, after being created as a first-gen immediately before the VHLM draft, before our present catch-up TPE system existed. I was on welfare for my first two weeks, and ended up being drafted with 284 TPE. Since that point, the VHLM graduation bonus (which was usually around 15-20 TPE, depending on how well you did) was nuked, career PTs were reworked (though total TPE payout didn't really change), and donations were reworked so a donation could get you 11 TPE per season rather than 17. But aside from the graduation bonus, this was mostly inconsequential for me--I only donated once with Garcia, and I don't remember doing much else different. Based on my career arc with Jerry, I'd expect myself to be well over 1500 at this point given the head start I had with Taro. And it was a pretty darn good head start, too--I donated in each of my first 4-5 seasons, wrote a couple HoF articles while still in the minors, and have never missed even a single week of earning 12 capped with Taro. Aside from briefly sitting below Cabe McJake (who blew all his money on extra TPE in the player store without accounting for depreciation and later had a thing for getting banned), I've always been on top of the TPE ranking in my draft class, which is where I was on draft night when I had...309 TPE. Compare that to recent classes--most recently, DeGroot at 372 and Lamb at 369 (I think) are far ahead of where top-of-the-class was in S75. And even comparing it to past classes, I'll probably have a tough time earning 90-something TPE to even get to where I was with Jerry between now and the deadline. Yes, we can point to some measures that were taken to combat TPE inflation a while ago, and I suppose those can be partially blamed for Taro having "only" 1500 or so at retirement. But as far as I know, not much has changed between then and now. Players are earning more, though, so why? Are seasons taking longer? I do remember feeling like our offseason was really short at one point, but I doubt that accounts for a 60-TPE difference. So what's happening recently that's letting players earn way more than they could a career ago? I genuinely don't know, and I'm torn between thinking it's an issue because of inflation and thinking it's good for allowing a few players who don't need to be in the E to skip it. I guess I'll find out what's changed later this season!

  20. Review: I can tell you're getting started, and that's great! You have some basics down--your player render (the picture of your player) is on its own layer, you picked a background, and you put some effects on the text. There's a lot to explain about graphics, but read this post for some very useful information. For a bit of advice separate from that, keep in mind that your player should be the first thing I notice when I look at the graphic. Right now, I notice the text and the logos (and even the big empty space right in the middle) before I notice your player's picture. Try making the player bigger--in my opinion, a player render should generally take up at least a third of the space you're using. Right now--5/10. It's a start, but keep working at it and try something new with every graphic you make. @NJDevils24
  21. Can someone pin this? It got buried again.
  22. Review: I like the color scheme and some of the effects. There are some textures that would go well in any sig and some of the blending is decent. I do question two things about this--first, it's overly exposed. Some colors are too harsh and the render (particularly his face) is overcooked. Second, the font you used for "Sanderson" doesn't really fit well with "George" (it's very rounded while George is not; generally if you want that type of contrast you'll have to go REALLY different rather than just one rounded/one non-rounded font). It's also a bit buried by the effects--it's good to have some blending with your stocks and lighting, but there's a bit too much. Overall 6/10, with some small adjustments it's better.

  24. I'm a fan of putting teams in slightly lesser-known cities. Like, don't put a team in Pittsburgh, put them in Erie. Don't expand to Dallas, expand to Fort Worth (the other Dallas). Don't expand to Edmonton, expand to Medicine Hat. I add it if I like it. Sometimes things can get old and when they do I take them out. This is a really tough one to answer. It's probably Sonnet for being my first GM and having a lot of influence on how I ran a team, but he's not around anymore. 1. What are your thoughts about league Discord moderation, positive or negative? 2. How has your player started the season? Are you living up to your own expectations so far? 3. From February to June, the average daily high temperature in the United States increases by over 10 degrees Fahrenheit per month (that's 5.6 Celsius)! Assuming you live in the Northern Hemisphere, it's about to start getting warmer. What are you looking forward to when spring (or even summer) starts back up again?
