Hunter Kylian
Kyliantown, Iceland
LW
Pros:
1. Offense: Kylian has a knack for being at the right place at the right time, and although he is not the flashiest player on the ice, his consistency sees him leading in points for every team he has played on. Known as a quiet leader, Kylian's play speaks volumes and has often results in him wearing a letter on his chest even though he never says a word.
2. Tenacity: Once he is moving, there is nothing stopping Kylian. He is one of the hardest working players currently in Europe. His play in the offensive zone is what has brought the scouts out to see him, but it is his high energy forecheck is what keeps the scouts coming back. Hard work often pays off as Kylian has broken the SHL record for shorthanded goals in a single year with 32.
3. Potential: At only 19 years old, the sky is the limit for Hunter Kylian. Unlike many young prospects that have raw skill, the floor for Hunter is quite high as he already has VHL ready intangibles. However, the raw offensive talents are far from peaking as Kylian is still adjusting to his body and also adjusting to a more physical game.
Con's
1. Independance: Kylian was raised by himself on a remote Icelandic Iceberg that he founded himself. Kylian taught himself how to survive after his family was eaten by polar bears, but because of his lack of socialization, Kylian often is seen as a lone wolf. If you aren't used to Hunter's temperament, you would assume that he didn't like you, however, after spending time with him it is easy to see that he is like that with everyone.
2. Discipline: While he does play hard, Kylian is known to play too hard and take stupid penalties. Because of his constant stick tapping and poking, Hunter is called for stick infraction regularly. You coul chalk this up to his hunger as an athlete, but if he wants to succeed, he needs to play a more disciplined game.
3. Defense: Hunter is developing into a solid all round player, but his defensive skills are still his worst attribute. He is great at working his body and using his stick to check the puck away, but his IQ in the defensive zone is lacking. Kylian is too willing to get himself out of position in hopes of creating a counter attack scoring opportunity. Because of his ability to score, this aspect of his game hasn't been a major priority of his, but now as he enters the VHL, the level of play is so high that Kylian won't even get a crack at playing if he doesn't develop his defensive IQ.
