  2. Team USA Announces WJC Roster After weeks of waiting, GM's of the WJC have started to release their S69 rosters, but today we'll be focusing on the up and coming United States and the team they've assembled for this tournament. While there are plenty of topics of discussion about the team and management, the roster or whatever the case, we'll only be focusing on two major ones. The roster itself, and projection in the WJC,. Without further delay, let's get into the nitty-gritty. The Roster: While the team up front looks good, it's important to dive into the details of the players GM McLovin has selected to understand the thought process he put into making the roster. To start, hands down the best player on Team USA should be goaltender Virgil Ligriv @MMFLEX. After a couple of strong seasons in the VHLM, Virgil Ligriv has come to Helsinki and has played a seriously elite game. As of writing this, Virgil has 8 starts, going 7-1 with a .936 sv% and a staggering 1.62 GAA, with three seasons worth of solid VHLM production, this kind of strong goaltending at this early point in his career will have him stealing games for Team USA should he keep up the production. Past that, the defensive depth on the roster is something to note. With the goaltending mentioned previously, and strong two-way defenseman Jacob Perry @Liberty_Cabbage playing with the company of players such as Aamon Grim @aCrypticPancake, Tony Bolonee @Tbeez99 & son of legendary defenseman Shawn Glade, Shawn Glade Jr @ShawnGlade, the defense looks to hold down the fort and give the team a legitimate chance at Gold. In addition to that, the forwards, who're highlighted by the playmaking Koda Adok @trevmi, with Jaxon Walker @hewasajazzman and Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly who're both producing very impressive numbers at the minor league level respectively, can breathe a sigh of relief knowing a low scoring game is not the end of the world, though don't be surprised if they end up turning up similar production and burning past defenders with their speed & skill. Projection: Taking a look at the raw skill and depth the team has in it's positions, it's hard to not say the US is at least a favorite for a medal. With an impressively well-rounded Canada, an offensively stacked Asia & Europe, and similarly defensive team in World, the USA has it's work cut out for them. The United States is going to rely heavily on goalie Virgil Ligriv and the defense to keep scoring low and games close, and the offense to pot goals when able and give the team a fighting chance. Whether the team can hold down the fort or find surprising offensive production is to be seen, but Team USA is hoping to come away from the tournament with something to show after back to back years of no medal following a Gold Medal victory over Canada in S66. It's safe to say though that the future of the USA is looking bright, and these young stars are hoping to play an elite game and bring home the Gold! ----------------------------- 521 words claiming for 12/9-12/15
  3. S69 Team USA World Junior Cup Roster After a solid couple days of combing through players and teams, I am proud to announce the S69 (nice) WJC Team USA roster. It was tough piecing this roster together as there were so many great young and talented players to select. So now, without further ado, here are the representatives of our great country in the tournament! Forwards: Koda Adok @trevmi Jaxon Walker @hewasajazzman Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly Chett Bandy @mmarcoux98 Nate Wright @73MPL4R Jason Connors @Klrpizza Gary Tarantino @Garrett Jack Russell @quanack Crush Cile @Savoire Faire Defensemen: Jacob Perry @Liberty_Cabbage Tony Bolonee @Tbeez99 Aamon Grim @aCrypticPancake Shawn Glade Jr @ShawnGlade Goalies: Virgil Ligriv @MMFLEX Solomon Crawford @AndrewWarren13 Congrats to everybody that was selected, I'm proud of this roster and expect them to put on a show come game-time. Invites to the Locker Room are public to both players and fans and are welcome to interact with the team in the official Discord! https://discord.gg/N9D8b44
  4. 1) Our 14 game win-streak was ended just a couple days ago. What is your favorite moment from the streak? Just the fact that it happened, this team is elite and the win streak showed it. I couldn't be prouder to play for a team this good. 2) We sit at the moment 1 point ahead of Vancouver for first in the league. What have you worked on the most to help this team continue to find success? My offensive production and skating definitely, it's been my biggest downside and I've unfortunately been inconsistent when it comes to my offense, so I'm looking to improve there. 3) What is the best quality to have in a head coach? Adaptability, not every player is the same and coaches need to adapt to players that have come from different corners of the hockey world to play for you. Not every player had the same coach and once chemistry is made that way, coaches can make players do anything. 4) Who is your neighbor in the locker room? Peppy let me use the locker next to his when I first joined and was a role model to look up to. Absolute legend. 5) Do you expect Helsinki to be active on the market as we move closer to the trade deadline? Unless we start struggling, I don't see why you'd want to shake up the roster that just won 14 in a row. We're great right now and risking the chemistry at this point wouldn't make much sense. 6) What is the worst pre-game meal you have ever had? The worst I've had is no meal at all. Never go to a game on an empty stomach.

  6. congrats gents, best of luck to all in the tourney!
  7. This has more cons than people are letting on. If welfare gets nerfed, casual members much like myself for the longest time would have a much harder time keeping up with the big dogs getting 12 tpe a week for job pay + anything else they do. Some people, especially new members, don't have either the creativity/knowledge/courage to make a big media spot for 2 extra tpe than you'd get on welfare. With the current system, casual members still have a chance to compete, but those that put more work into their player/jobs with media spots get rewards more = getting better than the casual player. No reason to alienate an entire class of members imo. Keep the system the same. EDIT: I just speak for the members who're a lot like me in which they don't have the time or VHL knowledge to make a weekly media spot but still want to have fun. Pls no bashing it's just an opinion on the internet.

  11. 1) We ended week 2 with a 7 game win-streak; what has been the key(s) to success in your opinion? Not saying the trade was the deciding factor, but it seems to be a big part of giving the team new chemistry and a drive to start winning again. Riding the momentum going forward has to be our best bet for continued success 2) Are you pleased with your personal performance over the previous week? I've been putting up decent numbers and I can't complain considering the opportunity Jubo's given me to play in Helsinki. I'll do my best to play to the highest ability here. 3) Take a look at McLovin's article here. How has this trade impacted the team from your point of view? Well statistically, very well so far. Shaking up the lines and getting momentum going has put us atop the league and on a great pace going forward. We're playing some elite hockey right now. 5) With Pepper continuing to play at the top of his game and our young goalie in Ligriv posting exceptional numbers thus far; how does knowing you have strong goal-tending positively impact your game? Having a strong tendy duo in net always gives the boys more confidence. Having a goalie bail you out once or twice a game always gives the boys a burst of energy and a drive to pot one in for him. 6) Hypothetically If you were late for practice one morning; which team-mate would you count on to cover for you? Well since I'm still new to the team, I better hope I'm not ever late to a practice considering I flew halfway across the world to play here, but I bet @Jubo07 would make a strong case for me ?
  12. Vancouver Misses the Mark (so far) It's been a few days since Vancouver and Helsinki decided to shake up their top-6 cores and swap wingers in Ben Hafkey along with 2 additional draft picks & ACL TEAR respectively. Now that some time has passed, an already lopsided trade is starting to seem more and more puzzling in the eyes of Wolves fans and management, and the effects of the trade are already taking their tolls on both teams. Let's get into the details and figure out what led up to the trade, the execution of it, with the current and potentially long term aspects of the trade taken into consideration. The Teams prior to the trade: Vancouver went into the trade leading the league in points, riding on the momentum of Denver Wolfe, MGS, HHH & a hot backup goalie to carry themselves to a 8-1-0 record. Hafkey, playing on the second line at the time, had 3 goals & 4 assists to help as well. The start of the season could not have gone better for them as they started their backup goalie in all 8 initial games and putting themselves atop the league. With those games out of the way, and their starting goalie in Greg Eagles taking over the starting position for the rest of the season, the future was looking bright, and a potential return to the playoffs and finals appearance for the second time in three years was again brought to the table. Helsinki on the other hand was another story. The team had a rough start to the year with a sub .500 record to go along side with a seemingly stagnated ACL TEAR notching a few points to start S69. After making the finals in back-to-back years in 66 & 67 and winning it once against the Vancouver Wolves, the sluggish start to the year was unacceptable to GM @Jubo07 who wanted a change of scenery. The trade: GM Jubo came into the GMing world of the VHL after assuming an assistant GM job in Philadelphia, and was a piece of the Reapers squad that won the Founders Cup in S66. Ben Hafkey was also a member of that elite team and was a crucial point producer in the playoffs that helped propel the team to a Cup championship. Jubo, realizing that something needed to be done to help the Titans get some momentum going, brought in a familiar face in Hafkey, alongside a 2nd & 4th round pick. The price was ACL TEAR, drafted 12th overall in the S67 draft by the New York Americans. His initial growth was good enough to notch him 50 points in 72 games the year prior, and Vancouver, looking to improve the second line scoring, took notice of this and went out to acquire TEAR. The result so far: It's hard to overshadow how much this trade has helped one team, and taken a heavy toll on the other. Within a few hours of the trade, the effects were already taking place. Hafkey in his first three games with his new squad put up 3 points, while ACL TEAR in his first ten only managed 3 points. The teams records also reflected these changes as Helsinki sky rocketed up to first place with a record of 10-1, while Vancouver fell to second with a 5-5 record since the trade respectively. The Vancouver LR also took a hit as players began to question management and noticing their point production also taking a massive hit. It's very obvious that going from first place to a .500 record rocked the chemistry of the team, and with MGS requesting a trade shortly after the Hafkey trade, it's yet to be seen as to how this will effect Vancouver in the long-term. As for Helsinki, they'll ride the momentum of fresh blood and a rejuvenated second line to make a push into the playoffs.

  17. Quote from Ben Hafkey after being notified of the trade. "Vancouver has been my home ever since the days in Philly when we won the Founders Cup, and coming into my rookie year with a winning mindset gave me the confidence and tenacity to do my best in the VHL. Vancouver treated me incredibly coming into the league and gave me a team and family I will carry with me for the rest of my life. To the fans, I'm happy I could play to the best of my ability in front of you, you gave me a home to feel welcome in and I'll never forget round one of the S67 playoffs, they were the highlight of my career, and winning the cup just a few weeks later on this squad was world changing for a guy like me. So I'd like to thank GM @Beaviss for giving a young kid a shot at doing great things, and will always remember the time I had in Vancouver as one of the best experiences of my professional career. Thank you. As for the future, Helsinki won the Cup in my draft year, and I am ecstatic to join the team and help them go for another one. The time I had under Assistant GM @Jubo07 during the Cup run in S66 will hopefully reignite the chemistry we had and make some nice things happen here in Helsinki. The chance they've given me to play in a top-6 role and contribute offensively is great, and I look forward to proving Jubo made the right call bringing me on to the team. Unfortunately, that's all the time I have as we've got a game against the Dynamo in a few hours, and I need to get antiquated with my new teammates and squad. So I'll answer any questions post-game then, thanks."

  21. 1. New season 1st in the league... Do you think we are this good? All things considered, we're doing extremely well with our backup holding down the fort and getting us to this position. 2. Do you think we can carry this on for a full season? Absolutely, as stated before with our start with a backup in net, just imagine how good we'll be with an elite starter 3. What do you think is our biggest strength? Defense, by the looks of things 4. Thoughts on getting our back up goalie done with all 8 games early? Glad we got that out of the way now in all honesty, now we don't need to worry about starting him in the playoffs instead ? 8. Do you think the leadership of the team is good? Absolutely, we're in a great spot now because of our new Captain and leadership. 9. If you could change one thing about the team what would it be? Nothing, we're elite now and there's no reason to screw the momentum up
