  2. 1. The Playoffs are mid way? Who do you have as the favorite to win? The Malmo Nighthawks and the Houston Bulls. 2. If you are still playing what are you doing differently than in the regular season? Well we just got eliminated but I think we really came together as a team in the 1st round and everything was clicking. Sucks we got ran over in the 2nd round.. Shit happens. 4. Who has been the hardest player to play against this season? Jeff Tates, I didn't even come close to taking the puck off his stick this season. He's quik and very smart, hard to keep track of him during games. 5. If you could change any part of your play what would you do differently? Probably need to bulk up if I want to make it in the VHL, next season I'm hitting the gym more than I ever have. 6. What is your greatest strength in your game? Being able to play wherever the coach needs me. I enjoy playing an all around game and being able to help the team out in all areas is what I strive to do. 9. What is the first song in your workout playlist? DMX - I Can Feel It
  3. We gave it our all and back-to-back overtimes prove it. The better team definitely won, good luck in the finals Houston.. I'm rooting for you guys!
  4. 1. What is the next part of your game you are hoping to develop? A complete game, I proved that I can pass last season, score this season and hopefully by next season I'll be all over the score sheet. 2. What portion of your game are you particularly proud of when it comes to your on-ice play? Being able to score at opportune times. 3. Related to the question above which stat on the stat sheet is most important to you? Do you like to score goals? Do you like to block shots? Depends on the role I'm put into, since I'm offensive I really like points, goals and assists. Specialty teams would come second. 4. After the home games which of your teammates seems to have the longest lineup for autographs? Passerelli, he is all over social media and the fans love him. 5. It’s the team Christmas party. Which teammate is making a fool of himself in front of team management? All of us. Kramer decided to get everybody together to perform Rudolf the Reindeer and we were too drunk.. It didn't end well. 6. The Halifax 21st are holding a contest to decide what their team mascot is going to be. Do you have any good ideas? A potato or a trout with medieval gear on.
  5. Good game, we almost pulled it off. Congratulations Europe!
  6. Shawn Glade's first goal It was the first game in Halifax history and they were facing the Ottawa Lynx at the start of the season. In the first period both teams were giving it their all until Ottawa's Lando Baxter got careless and shoved Glade for no reason after the draw, giving the team 5 minute power play. After 3:30 minutes go by the team didn't have much success, remembering the hit Glade went into action and starting wiring pucks at the net out of frustration hoping something would go past the goaltender, on his third shot Shawn gave an extra effort and started to make his way into the crease, clearing way and marking territory Shawn would go on and flip the puck into the net past a sprawling goaltender. The 21st would go and win their first ever game 4-1. Shawn Glade Jr's first goal Glade Jr joined Halifax 49 games into the season and has only played 21 games to date but his first goal had a lot of similarities to his fathers. In a match up versus the Mississauga Hounds 12 games into his career Shawn found himself in a scoreless match up, when second period started both teams were looking for a spark to get their offense going and it didn't long for the 21st to score. 2 minutes into the period Balentine Kidd would win a face off and dish it to Anton Edvin who then gave it to Emil Passerelli for the shot but it was saved by the goaltender, skating in for the opportunity Glade Jr flew into the crease for the rebound and flipped it over a sprawling goaltender to give his team the 1-0 lead, just like his father did many seasons ago. The 21st would go on and win 3-0.
  7. 1. Is there any chance you would make to our current jersey color scheme? Or do you like the way it current is? Nothing needs to be changed, I really like the identity. 2. Would you like to see a return of box scores to the locker room? Someone on the staff has been slacking on this so they have not been getting done. Yes, that's where I checked all last season and it wouldn't be hard to add that option. 3. As our locker room continues to develop and we have gained many new members is there anything else you would like to have added there? Anything that you think could up interaction within the locker room? A top defender would make us a deadly team. 4. We are nearing the end of the season in the VHLM. Who do you think has been the Halifax 21st’s MVP thus far? Hard to pick one, Theodore has played great despite being under 100 TPE and Passerelli won a lot of games for us too.. Gotta pick Passerelli. 5. Is there any particular VHL franchise you would like to play for based on location or other factors? I know some of you have been drafted but where would you like to play? I'll play anywhere, don't really have a choice anyway. Maybe when I become a free agent I'll have a different answer. 6. Do you think we, as a team, have what it takes to take down the top guns in the VHLM this coming playoffs? Yeah, we have to play strong all the way though, no mistakes.
  8. Just noticed the uncapped, even better Could do this or VHL.com though, don't think anybody would be upset and it will give more options. Make it like 4 tweets or something?
  9. ADD TWITTER PLEASE Hard to think of an article every week
  10. Didn't even notice that at first, wild to see a goalie win with that percentage!
  11. It's been 10 games since the Halifax 21st shipped their 1st round/3rd round draft picks to acquire right winger Ryan Busser and we wanted to look at how the team has changed since making the trade. We know Busser has been playing great and already has 7 points but how has the team performed as a whole? Last 10 Record: 5-3-2 (12) Previous 10 Record: 3-6-1 (7) Last 10 Goals For: 28 (2.8) Previous 10 Goals For: 27 (2.7) Last 10 Goals Against: 23 (2.3) Previous 10 Goals Against: 30 (3.0) Last 10 Shots: 25.9 (259/10.8%) Previous 10 Shots: 21.9 (219/12.3%) Last 10 Shots Against: 20.3 (203/14.7%) Previous 10 Shots Against: 20.2 (202/11.3%) Last 10 Power Play: 7/40 (17.5%) Previous 10 Power Play: 8/26 (30.7%) Last 10 Penalty Kill: 30/40 (75%) Previous 10 Penalty Kill: 33/42 (78%) Right away we see a difference in their competitive level and instead of getting lucky against top teams the 21st have been able to weather storm a lot better, 2 of their 5 wins are against top teams Minnesota/Las Vegas and they had three 6 goal games in the process, before their only good win was against Yukon and could only muster maybe 3 goals a game. Despite the big difference in goals the team has only been able to win 2 in a row in their previous 10 games and will be a boulder on the shoulder in the playoffs if they cant figure it out. It is safe to say Halifax has improved but will have to continue making minor tweaks until they find the right lines and consistency with all the talent they have.
  12. 1. If you could move the Halifax 21st to any city of your choice where would that be? Montreal or Edmonton, gotta keep the organization in Canada. Not sure if I'd consider moving it though.. If I had the choice. 2. Do you have any preference at all when it comes to hockey equipment manufacturer? Reebok or Nike have always been my favorite brands but I'd suit up in anything just to hit the ice. 3. Who are you rooting for at the upcoming World Junior Championships? Why? Obviously Canada, I'm on the team and if I weren't I'm always going to cheer for my home country. 4. Do you drink coffee? What do you take in it? Yes I do and the dosage is triple triple. 5. If you were placed in a game like The Hunger Games (think Fortnite) in real life, do you think you could win the game? Would you have what it takes to take out your competition? Gotta be sneaky and watch around you if you want to stand a chance, not sure if I'd win but I'm going to take a few down with me before I go! 6. Who do you think is the strangest person in our locker room? Nobody because I'm so new. Give it a week
  13. EVN Entertainment VHL Network 8:30 PM, October 8th - Writer: Justas Jarutis Last time we saw Canada they didn't do so well and ended the tournament with a disappointing 4-4-2 record, at times we saw a contending attitude but the lack of motivation and will to get the job done had the coaching staff miserable most nights. In the first round the team defeated the underwhelming Americans, questions still lingered if they were ready for the next round and the nation was nervous, it turns out they weren't. The Europeans ended their hopes and defeated the team 5-4, they scored 3 times in the 1st period to give their team the momentum early in the game and would be the edge they needed. The ending was better than the finish though and the audience was stunned when the Canadians struck back, giving an effort we all hoped for, with rage they tallied 3 in the second half of the game and Scotty BigShotty found a way to tie it up. Celebration was short lived and it didn't take long for Lucas Nygren to find a way to score, scoring 4 minutes into the 3rd that would freeze the Canadians the rest of the game. Team Europe would move onto the championship round and lose to team World 6-1 in another lopsided game that nobody was expecting. We think the game that brought the motivation down was the defeat against Asia where they allowed 7 goals against and had zero defensive effort against a weaker 0-3 club, this would spark Team Asia and they would go on to win their next 2 games. Expect ice-time favor the returning forward players and look out for the same deadly offensive touch that they had to score 32 total goals in their last showing together. We should see a fair bit of these beginners though, Louth, Johnson and Hunter, defenders with a point to prove and if they can seal the deal the Canadians have a fair chance at going all the way. Don't count out Jeff Tates though, he is having an outstanding year in the minors, he has totaled 100 points with 25 games left in the season. At the end of the day we see a stronger Canadian line up this year and expectations are definitely higher too, the offense got stronger, the defense got stronger and Flashback should hold down the fort in net. If the team can keep motivated and they have a winning mentality consistently through the tournament we don't see why they cant go all the way. All players will play double time and are encouraged to keep hydrated at all times, get enough sleep and find ways to keep motivated. Thanks for taking the time to read! Ciao for now! - J.J.
