  1. Week ending November 10th Sorry for the delay, been moving (still am, in fact), but here is the off-season press-conference! 1. Capping off the season, how do you feel our GM and AGM have fared in their duties during S68? 2. And the locker room? 3. Prediction ahead of the draft, will we make playoffs next season? And how far will we go if so? (Draft picks: https://vhlportal.com/teams/12) 4. Who do you think will be taken first overall in the VHLM draft? 5. If you were the GM what one trade would you do to make our team better? 6. Are there any kinds of questions you would like to have on future press conferences? More hockey, or more personal?
  2. 1. Halloween’s coming up. What is your biggest fear? In Sweden Hallow's Eve is about remembrance of the dead, not fear from them. The American tradition of candy and dressing up has been growing the past 20 years though. But to provide an honest answer, I fear the day I don't care anymore for those who have gone to the grave - for this year I will visit a few friends and relatives and put candles on their graves. 2. If you could have dinner with any three people in history, who would it be? Never thought I would be able to answer a question like that here, and I choosing between all the names that come up immediately is pretty hard.... but probably Socrates, David Hume and Thomas Jefferson. 4. Name one thing you’ve learned the hard way? Wherever you go, there you are. 5. What are your personal hopes for the NY Americans next season? It would be nice with, and I think we can achieve playoffs at least. But my hopes are we keep and build on the broad active core of players we have. That is after all our strength and promise for the seasons ahead. 6. Is there a story behind the number you chose for your jersey? #5 is of course for Lidström, whom I model my player by. 7. What's one goal you're determined to achieve in your lifetime? VHL: Cup, Hall of Fame player. IRL: Become independent and free from the State.
  3. Week ending November 3rd More draft, playoffs, future. Hold out, we'll soon start playing again! 1. How are you holding up during the playoffs and upcoming offseason with no games happening for us at tbe moment? 2. The draft is ever closing, but predicting it is hard until the draft order is released. But have you been in contact with any teams, specifically if you're in the VHL draft, or have you written Articles or Media Spot about your hopes for the draft? 3. I have compiled individual stats on regular season, if you're staying for one more season, or have the chance to be landed by us in the draft, how do you feel about your chances to climb to the top of the all-time greats? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HMJhQi4imN9a-9VfxvV7aH4bCtjWR_lflDeP5hRDag8/edit?usp=sharing 4. It's a minimum of two weeks until S69 starts, which may mean as much as 28 TPE, do you have a clear idea how you want to spend them? 5. In the VHLM playoffs, any teams or players that have stood out to you? Surprises or disappointments? https://vhlportal.com/VHLM/68/Playoffs/Standing.php 6. Same question as above, but for the VHL playoffs; https://vhlportal.com/VHL/68/Playoffs/Standing.php
  4. Fredrik Elmebeck D, 18 years old, Swedish Houston Bulls SEASON GP G A P +/- PIM S67 72 6 38 44 34 52 S67 Playoffs 4 0 0 0 0 19 Elmebeck has often spoken warmly about his first season in Houston Bulls, "That's where I cut my teeth, got to see the difference between professional hockey and the more regional hockey I played earlier". Point-wise and looking at the season superficially it was a pretty mediocre, but looking at the development and the hard time on and off ice the improvement was amazing. The playoff too was a disappointment, both for the teeam and for Elmebeck - the team however was destined to do well in S68; but by then Elmebeck would have left. The draft went better than expected, he got picked 9th by New York Americans - a few places earlier than he was expected to go (many pundits guessed 12th). Team Europe WJC SEASON GP G A P +/- PIM S68 8 2 7 9 8 4 S68 Playoffs 2 0 4 4 4 2 Picked by his father may have reeked of nepotism, but looking objectively at the pick he was the second best defenceman available, and he ended up leading the ream in points after a very well-played tournament by the team. New York Americans SEASON GP G A P +/- PIM S68 72 5 27 32 -12 32 A mediocre season by the team, but still a huge improvement from S67. Elmebeck personally almost met his points from VHLM but was visibly frustrated a lot of the time on the ice. "You know, you want to do better, but it's been hard. I'm especially disappointed with my plus/minus, but I will work on speed, strength and positioning for next season and hopefully I can perform a little bit better". Future Americans have a young active core that is set to keep growing and improving, for the S69 draft they also have a lot of good draft picks. It's probable that they will be a force in VHL to reckon with by S72 if not earlier, and Elmebeck will be a core element on the blueline by then. With Elmebeck continuing his improvement and probably playing with Lance Flowers next season he is hoping to be more stable defensively and provide a few more points too. Per-Mårten Elmebeck AGM, 45 years old, Swedish AGM Saskatoon Wild SEASON GP W L OTL P GF GA Pos S68 72 21 46 5 47 226 299 10th There is not that much to say about his work there, the quiet Swede has been working the locker-room, holding a few press conferences and generally pick up any slack GM Peace has needed. "It's been a very interesting time, I have learned a lot and hope to learn more here!" GM Team Europe WJC SEASON GP W L OTL P GF GA Pos S68 8 6 0 2 19 27 16 1st S68 Playoffs 2 2 0 0 --- 8 3 Gold The expectations for Team Europe winning the tournament were sky-high from the start, most metrics showed that Team Europe had a decent edge in player maturity even compared to Team Canada. The tournament started well. Despite problems with a few problem spots due to paperwork filed wrong, Europe wen 4-0 in the first round. The second round has two wins and two overtime shootout losses, both those losses came against Canada in two tight games. This didn't necessarily not bode well for the playoffs, despite leading the group. The first playoff game was rather close at times, but ended with a 3-1 win against Team America, and in the finasl - as expected they met Team Canada - it was a rather comfortable 5-2 win. Future When interviewed for Victory Associated Press Elmebeck was asked about the future of Europe's WJC team, and whether he would lead it again. "When picking the roster for this season I saw so many players that I wished I could have picked, but there were just too many good players for me to pick them," he paused, "As for running the team again I don't think so. This is in my mind a one time thing as long as there are hungry new AGMs or ambitious players worthy of a shot." What about the World Cup? "Sometime in the future I am sure. I have not applied for this season and will likely not do so for a few seasons, but yeas, it would be an honor to do that in few seasons perhaps." And Saskatoon? "Just keep slogging and doing a good work for as long as I find it enjoyable!"
  5. Hit me up on PM or Discord (VerloreneSiege#9910) if you need any help with TPE-earning. You'll soon be part of the draft and hopefully end up at a good team (to be fair, all VHLM teams are nice places).

  9. Very interesting history, especially since I have my player in Americans now (AGM-ship in Saskatoon).
  10. People should know when they're conquered. Great tournament, and thank you so much to the simmers that made it happen. Also, thanks to everyone that lost to us, suckers.
  11. With the draft so close to now and Saskatoon Wild out of playoff contention I won't even try to recruit you right now. But please let me know via PM on here or through Discord (VerloreneSiege#9910) if I can help you with your TPE earnings ahead of the draft, or otherwise answer your questions if you're new to this - your post count suggests you are not, so it would be nice to connect.

  14. A tough season is over, playoffs here, off-season waiting. Let's focus on those. 1. Looking back at the season, do you feel we ended up where expected or could we have done anything different, either for this season or to prepare for next season? 2. This will likely be a theme for a few weeks now , but what's your thought on the draft? Any particular player we should aim for, or a specific position we should look to fill? 3. Playoffs and off-season will likely be minimum two weeks, probably three, which is a lot of TPE even when playing golf. What are your plans for your attributes until the start of next season? 4. Ondrej Ohradka @animal74 had an amazing 104 pts season, can he outdo himself next season or do you see someone that can challenge him on the team? 5. Looking back at the season again, no matter if you're a rookie or not, if you could give yourself advice at the start of the season knowing what you know now; what would it be? 6. I kind of promised myself to never do something like this, but it's hard to come up with good questions, so: Blue or Gold?
  15. "I played for Vegas and Ottawa. Now Helsinki. So ya leave me out." I didn't abide with his wish very well. But yeah, it would be good if we could 1) search the database, and 2) trust it.
  16. I have to admit this is not a very planned update, I already had a subject for this week, then the theme week was announced. So I apologize for the brevity, but maybe someone that is tagged will get something from it, and please tag people in comments that I haven't been able to find as members. Two points per game S57 Phil Bennington 72 GP, 70G, 104A, 174P @Phil S58 Kirk Lazarus 72 GP, 81G, 81A, 162P @RadiatedGold S57 Kriztof Mueller 72GP, 73G, 86A, 159P S58 Shelton Kenzie 72GP, 54G, 103A, 157P @Dingle S60 Bryce Zhields 72GP, 69G, 80A, 149P It's hard to overstate how impressive a two points per game performance is, with Bennington up at 2.4 points per game. Certainly the game was different back then, but the performance is still one of magnitude. The GM Rylan Peace 72GP, 46G, 45A, 91P @Peace That's right in S63 Rylan Peace, the current GM of Saskatoon Wild, led the team in goals and points. The team came second in the league and then proceeded with a great playoff run that ended with sweeping Ottawa Lynx in the finals; Peace producing 7 goals and 10 points in 11 games. Most games played S60-63 Jordan Tonn 288GP, 43G, 60A, 103P S63-66 Kip Baier 288GP, 24G, 40A, 64P @Kip Baier This pair is interesting. Spent four seasons down each, with quite moderate success, but presumably with a calming locker room presence. When contacted about his time in Saskatoon, Jordan Tonn @MexicanCow said, "What? I was never there. Either you got your facts wrong or we have an imposter." We're going to investigate Baier closer, it would somehow be comforting to have one player who stayed down for that long (we may have one below though). Longest name, and a legacy S52 Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII 72GP 7G 35A 42P @.sniffuM? S55-57 Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVIII 222GP 66G 130A 196P What the significance CXXXVIII has, being 138 converted from Roman numerals, is unknown. But in total also has spent 288 games with the Wild over two players. Best defenders S56 Keaton Louth 72 38 81 119 @Beaviss S47 Felipe Rodriguez 72 39 78 117 S57 Emil Martinov 72 28 89 117 I tríed to look up if these players were still active, but the search function is... not functioning at this time. But if anyone knows who they are, please tag them below. Anyway, 100 points or more, in VHLM basically your first season, as a defender - yes, sure another sim engine back then possibly, but still - that's impressive. Best team since S47 Take a look above, how many S57 greats aren't there? That team had seven players at over one point per game, but still managed to lose to Ottawa Lynx in the semi-finals. Clearly one of the great teams in VHLM that almost immediately got lost to VHL. The S58 crew were not bad either, but also failed to win in the end. The future Saskatoon now sits on a really good core, three 1st round picks, excíting trades and is destined to do well next season. Also, more stable with the 250 TPE change. The sun is rising over rural Canada! I apologize for this being so vapid, I would have like to track each player's path over their career, but the player search function has not been kind to me. Maybe for another time.
  17. When Steve asks, you answer. 1. What are your plans for the offseason? I am so busy in real life I kind of am looking forward to just doing my 13 points, hopefully. This theme week has been hard, wish it had been announced a week ahead. 2. Did you think you met your goals this season as a player? I think so, not very happy with my plus/minus. I don't want to be a scoring defenseman, more of a balanced once, but at -10 that's no good. I realize you have to roll with the team too, but I think I could have been better in plus/minus, hits and blocked shots. 3 What areas are you going to improve on before the start of next season? Skating and Defence, but I will probably put five points into Leadership as it's irritating to have it at 45. 4. What position are we the weakest? Not sure if this is true or not, I haven't bothered to check the updates, but we have a bunch of S66 forwards that are maybe not putting all into it. 5. Do you have a good feeling going into next season that we will do better? Yes, I really like the potential of this team. Definitely playoffs next year, or bust. Cup the season after, if we can hold out. 6. Who did you like to play with during the season as a linemate? You of course, but we're not very compatible, so Flowers @CowboyinAmerica of course. 7. We have a lot of good young talent on the team, will they be enough to push us into contenders? The whole team seems kind of young, so yes. This is the strength. It's like a 1995 Detroit Red Wings or Colorado Avalanche, pick your poison. 8. Boris is becoming a beast, do you think he will be the top scorer on the team finally next season? Possibly, yes. I still don't know the league or the engine well enough yet, but I can definitely see @chillzone becoming a dominant force in the league. 9. Our defense is really taking shape. Do you feel there should be any additions to the backend? I think we need one more, I would go for @JohnOQuinn. 10. Do you think there wil be more attention to making lines that work this next season? As long as you are around nagging the brass I am sure there will be.
  18. Fffffuuuu...
  19. Submitted minor changes, a bit irritated about the shoot-out losses to Canada, not sure if I made things better or worse. Great job running this!
  20. As the first matchups have been played in the round robin, Europe is dominating as predicted. Perhaps even stronger than anyone would have thought. WJC standings (depending on when you read this you may see the half-way or full-time standings): https://vhlportal.com/vhlm/WJHC/68/Standing.php Team Europe was on paper the best team before the tournament started, but few expected them to have four straight wins right off the bat, looking to dominate this tournament. A few of the records to beat that are in reach so far: EIGHT WINS Team Europe has previously scored seven wins in seasons 40, 43, 56 and 66. They do need to win all remaining four games, with Canada as an opponent in two of them, to beat that though. GOALS AGAINST In S40 and S65 Team Europe only let in 18 goals. After four games they only have let in 4 goals. This seems like a season this likely can be broken. GOALS FOR The record is 39 and Team Europe now only stands only at 15. So while not out of the question it does not seem likely. All the historical stats available here: https://vhlportal.com/vhlm/WJHC/68/TeamsRecords.php#Europe
  21. Hmm, maybe I should look at this. POWER PLAY Europe - 2 on 9 Attempt(s) - 22.22%
  22. And I had made a mistake with my 5v5 lines too for Europe (two CPU players, I was apparently in a rush). Hopefully my line changes take effect for next game.
  23. Lines sent, a bit late admittedly. Apologies, have been having problems switching from one operator to another and live in the middle of the woods...
  24. Great spot, keep following them next season!
