  3. This Week with David Wallace What a weekend for the talented young player from England. He was involved in two drafts. With the 34th overall pick in the VHL draft the Prague Phantoms are proud to select David Wallace. With the 18th overall pick in the VHLM the Las Vegas Aces are proud to select David Wallace. Id be lying if I said I don’t love the teams I was selected for. Said Wallace after both drafts. He continued, I really wanted to play for Prague, I like the management there and the opportunity to be a cornerstone piece to a new franchise. Being back in Las Vegas l, where I started my pro career is great too. Again our management is top notch and the team looks to be really deep. High praise from Wallace for both organizations and their management. Sources have confirmed that Wallace will not be joining Prague this season, he will remain in Vegas all season to help give him more professional experience and ensure he is 100% ready to make the leap to Prague next year for his rookie season. Wallace and the Las Vegas Aces seems to be the team to beat in the VHLM next year, with 3 picks in the first round and two in the second, they acquired some of the best available talent out there. Along with a great GM and AGM to put forth a good game plan and line up the team looks poised for a long playoff run. Matt has also not shied away from making moves, last season it was trading away talent for picks, and this year it will be adding talent for picks to help them team on their run. The other reason I am glad to be back in Vegas is because of the team we potentially have, we are going to be really deep and really good. I want a chance to bring a championship to the great fans we have here. Said Wallace He will have a chance and it’ll be interesting to see how well Wallace does this season with the Aces. Prague is a different animal, being an expansion team likely means they will finish at the bottom of the standings this year, unless they go on a miracle run. That being said this team is very young and hungry for the future success. If this group can stay together and grow together we can very well see the birth of a dynasty. Their draft focused in on drafting young active players that have big upside. Wallace was drafted higher than his pre draft rank which means management liked what they heard from him in their pre draft interviews. Other teams had interest in Wallace and if Prague didn’t select him at 34 it was likely he was going in the next few picks. We we will see how Wallace does this season and in the future, he is a talented young player who is ready for a long and productive run in the VHL. We see him as being a future all star at the very least but time will tell. Will he take his money and run? Or will he put the time in the become one of the best the VHL has ever seen?
  4. Not sure what this is exactly but I’m in
  5. This Week with David Wallace David Wallace has finished his season with the Las Vegas Aces with a first round playoff loss. In 5 play off games Wallace put up 3 goals and was a -4 with 4 PIM and 8 hits. Not great stats but what jumps out is the 3 goals and 0 assists, Wallace has shown the potential to be an elite playmaker, yet in the 5 playoff games he didn’t have a single assist and put up 3 goals. This shows promise in the young player that he could develop a more balanced offensive game as his career progresses. Players know what they’re good at and will push themselves harder in that area to improve while also pushing themselves to improve in other areas to become a better all around player. Wallace has demonstrated, even in a small sample size, that he isn’t just focusing on being the best passer in the game he wants to be the best player. The regular season is where Wallace showed more of his playmaking ability. He only played 41 games but finished the season with 5 goals and 19 assists for 24 points, a -2, 10 PIM, and 61 hits. He put those numbers up, while being behind the rest of the league in growth, going into next season those numbers should all sky rocket. Wallace being a -2 is a stat that jumps out because he wasn’t on a top seeded team, the Las Vegas Aces needed to win the last game to get into the playoffs as the 8 seed, and had a 46 loss season. For being only a -2 on a mediocre to bad team shows that Wallace respects the two way game and plays a full 200 foot game. He is developing Into a legit two way forward. Going into the VHL draft weekend, central scouting bureau has Wallace ranked as the number 48 prospect, but they show him at 105 TPE, when he is currently at 127. I have reached out to a few different league sources across the VHL and VHLM and they believe Wallace will be selected anywhere in between the 2nd and 4th round of the draft. There have been a few teams that have shown interest and have interviewed Wallace but anything can happen come draft day and Wallace is mentally prepared to be a 1st rounder or even selected last overall. I love the game, I love being around the guys in the locker room, I love the atmosphere that surrounds the rink and the wonderful sport of hockey. I would love to go #1 overall but I came here too late for that and I understand that. I just want to play for a team that wants me and will give me the opportunity to show off my skill and how good I feel I can be. Said Wallace when we reached out for comment on the upcoming draft. Wallace’s team has also made it known that he is very interested and intrigued with the chance to play for an expansion team. The two new markets are both great hockey markets and the chance for him to be a cornerstone piece for a new franchise is a challenge Wallace would be ready and willing to embrace. With that being said Wallace made it perfectly clear in his comment he would welcome any opportunity to play for any team in the VHL.
  6. David Wallace forward goals points claim minimum 13
  7. Hello fellow bruins fan! I heard there very few of us here. Seems like you’re not a pats fan though
  8. Expansion Team Names @Matt_O has made a bold prediction as to the exact two locations of the two expansions teams. I feel, as do many he may be on to something with his prediction. Washington for North America and Prague for the World. I would like to discuss potential teams names based solely on his prediction. Washington The VHL currently has a team called he New York Americans, so my thought is either they change their name or the new Washington stays away from a patriotic name like the Nationals. My thought is that they could be the Washington Generals, still slightly patriotic but has more of a military theme than a patriotic. Prague I have no idea what the Prague team could be called so with this prediction I’m going with something that sounds good to me. Prague Prestige or Prague Pheasants. I think both have a nice little ring to it. The Prestige is always a good name for a team and Pheasants are known to live in the outskirts of Prague. New York Bonus paragraph here, if New York gives up its patriotic name for the Washington expansion team, they will need a new brand. New York Metropolitans, New York Empire, or New York Flying Monkeys. The last one is a reach but the other two could very much be possible solutions for them.
  9. Expansion Locations The VHL is currently Developing two new expansion teams, so the million dollar question is where should these teams by located? And what will their team names be? We will dive into the North American division first. The 5 teams are located in Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, Toronto, and New York. To break it down further and maybe create two divisions in each conference we see three teams in western North America and only two in east. Adding a team to the eastern part would allow for the league to make divisions. We also see three Canadian markets and two American markets. That could lead to two different conferences like USA and Canada or the more traditional east vs west. The first idea that came to mind is the Boston market. This could help either division idea since Boston is both in the east and in America. Boston is a huge hockey market and is always connected in rivalry with New York, not just in hockey but every sport. Toronto has also built up a recent rivalry with Boston so that could be great for the league here. A few Boston team names could be, Boston Shamrock, Boston Bandits, and Boston Whalers. Another North American market that could be explored is Montreal. Montreal has a rich history in hockey and this would create an instant rivalry with Toronto. This would not work with the Canada and USA divisions but would work east and west divisions. A few Montreal team names could be Montreal Madmen, Montreal Freeze, and Montreal Royals. Now we move over to the European conference. Forgive me I am not as familiar with the European layout so I’m not to sure how to break up divisions. It could be set up similar with east and west or we could look into a Europe division and an Asia division. The first market that may be interesting is Beijing. Hockey is growing globally and China boasts a huge population. The KHL has teams in China and there’s an Asian hockey league so this is an untapped market in the VHL and a great way to grow our league across the world. Moscow would be an instant rival because of their closeness. Team names could be the Beijing Killer Rabbits, Beijing Ninjas, and Beijing Dragons. The next European market that could be interesting would be London. This market would be huge, not only do you bring in English fans but Irish, Scottish, and Whales. England isn’t known for hockey but there is an English league and hockey is slowly growing their and a VHL team would only help push the growth. Team names could be London Monarchs, Great Britian Red Coats, and London Bulldogs. The key theme for my expansion talk is the opening up of divisions in our conferences. Every other major sport has different divisions and it helps to promote rivalries. With these new divisions I see us having 6 playoffs teams. Three from each conference with the division winners getting the first two seeds and a wildcard team from either division. First place in each conference gets a bye round and 2v3 and winner playing against the 1 seed. We could also goto either teams with the divisions winners getting 1 and 2 seeds and then two wildcard from either division.
  10. This Week with David Wallace David Wallace entered the VHL world a few backs, and in a day sign with the VHLM team Las Vegas Aces. He made the choice after receiving several offers, all from non playoff teams. Wallace has since played 18 games for the Aces and has 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points and is a -3 thus far. “The goal for me was to get my feet wet and to see how the competition was, build my game and become elite. I know what type of player I am and I know I can play here and do well, I just to work on some things and I will be an All Star in VHLM next season you can count on that.” Commented Wallace after his last game. Strong words from such a new player in this league an environment. There may be some merit to what he was saying. Since entering the league he has moved up 30 spots in the pre draft ranking, and with all the hard work he’s put in he will only climb higher. He started ranked 93 and is now ranked in the low 60s. That’s a huge leap for a new member, with that continued growth we could see him climb into the top 30 very soon. We asked Wallace about where he’d like to be drafted he said. “ For VHLM draft I have enjoyed my time in Vegas, but anywhere I can win i don’t care round or spot let’s just win. The VHL draft is slightly different, I want to go to a place where I can thrive. I don’t mind not winning the first year or two and building up a good team and chemistry so we can eventually win a few championships in a row.” With Wallace the Las Vegas Aces have climbed up to claim the 8th seed in the league. Is this a coincidence or has Wallace helped to elevate his teammates game and helped push them over the top. “We have a great locker room in Vegas, my teammates are great, the GM is dedicated, we work hard together. Are we winning because of me? No, we are winning through our hard work and team mentality.” Said Wallace when asked about the team rising in the standings. Wallace is the type of young motivated player, that has many great years ahead of him. He is seen as project prospect, but if he continues to work like he has his first few weeks here then he can work his way up to a sneaky top tier prospect that many teams will be fighting over come draft day. Wallace did not make a World Junior Champion roster this year, he seems to have just missed the cut. He is likely a lock for the team next year. Whether that is for team Europe or the mercenary team, who knows but he will be playing that tournament this time next year. His snub motivates him to make sure he makes a team next year and showcase his skill on such a huge stage.
