1 - Probably balance my build out.  Not sure if i want to add DF or go more SK and PH build.  Kimi likes being quick.

But before I could finish, I noticed Fong had left a comment (the first one), and I wondered what it could be. I thought maybe the post had been locked for investigation, but nope, it was still open, and Fong's comment? Total sarcasm, taking a jab at me. For those curious, Fong would've known my PT was denied for AI. His comment praised my "originality," which is why I'm saying it was sarcastic. By the time he left that comment, my report was nearly a week old and buried under other posts. So, he specifically sought out my post just to drop that comment after finding out what happened. Fong isn't known for being active on the forum, so him leaving a comment like that was out of character, and it's pretty obvious he wasn't sincere. Given our history, context is key here. That comment told me everything I needed to know about how fair the process with him would be going forward. This is where the league falls short because, while Fong has his good points and is buddies with a lot of folks, he's just not suited for his role.

 

It's frustrating being told you didn't do something you know you did. So, while the updaters and all will insist AI wrote my report, I can't just accept that and move on. I was chatting with a friend in the league (who's equally awesome, by the way), and he pointed out parts of my report that seemed totally AI-generated, with the sentence structures and all. But the whole time, I'm thinking, "Nope, I wrote that paragraph." Sure, I use software at work to help with grammar and synonyms, but the words and ideas are mine. I was the one sitting there typing out those sentences, and I've been using that software for my whole time here, five years. After our chat, I started thinking, what if I hadn't retired and stuck around? I could stop using those tools when I create stuff, skip the spell check, but would that stop the paranoia when I submit? What if I get flagged again? What if it means dealing with someone like Fong? How much stress do I really need in my life? My scouting report came back as 97% AI-generated. That means I supposedly had almost nothing to do with it, aside from the title. When I read that, my mind was blown. I didn't know whether to laugh or what, but the person telling me was dead serious. And I should say, I respect both the people I dealt with on the updaters' side. The first person who flagged me (I know they've got nothing against me), and the second who denied me is a real asset to the league. But I don't want to rewrite something I put a lot of effort into. I had a blast writing my report and genuinely thought it was some of my best work. Next time I'm on a roll, is it gonna look like AI again? Will it test as AI? What if it's 98%?

 

To all the awesome folks here (including you), who've welcomed me and worked hard to make this place great - you all rock. If you ever wanna chat, hit me up on Discord or over at the SHL. Completely get you, man.  I get that there's context and I have no real clue what it is), and seems like anything can get flagged for AI.  Well, that's why I don't type anymore.  I also get that even if this slid through whatever seriousness or sarcasm, you (and me both) dislike having anything hanging over our heads or being looked over our shoulders... this is supposed to be fun and engaging.  I like earning just enough but I ain't typing reports or articles anymore, maybe that works for just me.

I will hit you up someway soon, I have before, because we've been through this before.  Until then, take care of the family and look after yourself.  Btw, your podcast back in the day was good.

Review time.

I had no idea you did graphics, so this is a pleasant surprise for me.  The layout of the card is pretty good, the black and white color choice is a cool idea since it matches the Wolves colors, the font choices are kinda ok, I like the font at the top.  Maybe two different fonts could have been used instead.  Not really liking the center part going across without a border.  The render kind of blends with the side borders, either darken the borders or add some contrast to the render, it looks too faint.

I'm gonna give this a solid 7.5/10

Wow early sims is very cool but a bit strange also.

1 - No it's not my first one.  It isn't my only sim league either, I've been in a dozen or so, maybe more.  I'm in four right now though, two hockey and two racing, although the ones not called VHL are in their infancy, mostly.

2 - Not really, the AAA games lately have higher requirements, but I am awaiting some decent racing games coming up (Forza was a disappointment).  I stick to Assetto Corsa, F1, AMS2 and manager/tycoon type games.  Add in Dead Cells and Hades roguelites too.

3 - Yes I do, I live in Montreal.  Legend has it that the Canadiens' ghosts of the past keep haunting them for leaving the famous Montreal Forum in 1996.  No cups since 1993 (31 year drought) after 24 cups in, like, 75 seasons.

QUESTIONS

1 - Did your team do any deals before the deadline?  Has your team improved for a Cup run, or sold off assets for your team's future?

2 - Renomitsu's first question:  Do you do sim leagues anywhere else?  How active do you need to be to manage so many leagues?

3 - What are your favorite pizza toppings??  If you don't like pizza, what's up with that?

1.  Maybe it's time to sell and make room for Kimi!  Kimi is ready to fly to Riga and help.

2.  Anything can happens IF any team can get in the playoffs, so I'll say yeah Riga can surprise if they can get red hot.

3.  It's a little rough but they're professional about it.  You win some and lose some.

4.  I'm not too sure tbh.  I hope he sticks around for his last season so Kimi can go bwoah with him.

5.  It makes you appreciate winning streaks that much more.  Losing sucks but losing can show you your weaknesses.

6.  I'll guess between Vancouver and Edmonton, I'll say Edmonton.

1 - Card games like cards vs humanity and stuff

2 - Probably nothing above the border unless you like drama and biased failure, so maybe Florida or Colorado.

Do you think allowing the meta builds was sustainable and healthy? If yes, we change nothing. If no, you have four options.

 

1. Change the sim engine -> no real other options available with the import/export options STHS has.

2. Put different update scales for certain attributes -> this would make it glaringly obvious which attributes are just better and would lead to the same problem you see now of not getting any improvement in a full week of earning, but even a step worse because you don't even get to click the button.

Step 1.  Goalie Hybrid attributes.

Step 2.  Start STHS stats at 20 instead of 40 and update/re-work the TPE expense scale.  Also remove FG and DI from applying points; change them every game from 20-99 if you want.  Max FG/low DI and vice-versa could be interesting for rivalries.

Step 3. Scrap STHS

Step 4.  Build new engine and put it up on Steam as a simulator.

Step 5.  Profit

1 - Yes it has started out well.  Team had achieved good results and we are in good standing!

2 - I'll agree that a more veteran core gets the leadership role, but that isn't without saying the rookies aren't contributing. 

3 - Definitely Cologne.  It's a battle out there every time we face off.

4 - Montreal Canadiens!  Went to the first game at the Molson Centre in 1996 vs the New York Rangers!  This was before Bell purchased the naming rights.  Got to see Gretzky too!

5 - Probably Art Vandelay.  He's been lights out good.

6 - Water.  The taste of nothing is unbeatable.

I think this mentality was the basic idea behind the 9th season in the first place.  Hang on tight and hope for a cup in a support role like an aged star or something.  Go down this route for your own experience.

Maybe there could be some constructive criticism if the hybrid attribute system came out AFTER the 9 season system, there could be comparisons.  Maybe some members were licking their chomps to set some records whilst max earning and banking at a higher TPA level.

There can be no comparison as to how it was perceived for seasons 80, 81 and 82, where we were on the old system.  This is where Fire got his points.  Could have gotten 1k points possibly if there was no hybrid system but that's just speculation.  Goalies are much stronger now too with no hybrid system for them
