  1. 1. Probably Rice or Sasakamoose because we’re all 1st gen S69 players. 2. Yukon. I mean they kicked us out of the playoffs, it’s hard to like them too much. 3. Not sure if this is a full-on job, but being in charge of the live draft rankings would be cool. I like keeping track of prospects in real life, so it makes sense that I would enjoy watching the progression of VHL players. 4. What are your thoughts after your first VHL season? It was honestly a lot more fun than I would've thought coming into the league. The community and the work put into the league makes it hard not to come back every week. 5. Not great, but I think if you find the right people, the TPE will get there eventually for them. We also have a good returning squad. 6. To get back to Mississauga and to keep consistently gaining TPE.
  2. September 10, 2019 Seated impatiently in an arena flooded with eager hockey players from around the globe, Patrik Tallinder found himself awaiting what they all did: a familiar name, projected on the stage alongside the logo of a VHLM team that would decide to take a chance on them. His mother to his left, and his younger brother Nils to his right, they all glared ahead, eyes glued to the screen that would soon include his name among the others drafted that night. At pick number 31, there it was. He had been selected by the Mississauga Hounds. He hugged his family, headed down the stairs and to the floor, and so it began. September 15, 2019 His first game. Running on nerves and adrenaline, Tallinder registered one shot on goal in his first time throwing on the blue jersey. He recalls the moment as "probably the most nerve racking of [his] life," with his friends and family in attendance, among the thousands of other eyes on him. The match was a game of back and forth, which ultimately fell to San Diego, 6-5. September 16, 2019 In the team's 9th game of the season, the young Swede scored his first goal in the VHLM. After a slow offensive start, he really took off from here, en route to a 34 goal season. Overwhelmed with joy, Tallinder was all smiles following his first tally. October 22, 2019 After a season of hard work from the Hounds, he was more than ready to take on the challenges of playoff hockey. Perhaps a little too energetic, the poise of Block Buster prevailed, earning a shutout in the game. October 23, 2019 And this is where the chapter ends. Shut down once again by the fantastic goaltending of Block Buster, this game marked the end of the Hounds playoff run, and Patrik Tallinder's first VHLM season along with it. "It's never easy," the Hound said, touching on the way the season ended. "You never expect to lose, and it's always so abrupt when the season ends like that." Realizing the likelihood of staying in the VHLM next season, Tallinder has set goals for himself to reach. "Some people see [staying down in the VHLM] as a bad thing. The way I see it, it's another opportunity to improve all aspects of my game, and more importantly, another opportunity to win the Founder's Cup." When asked about his plans for the offseason, he mentioned that he will be returning to Sweden to train with his brother, and to spend time with his other brother, Lucas. Although he is happy to return home, he is impatient for a second crack at the VHLM title. "This was just a fraction of what we can accomplish. Next year, we know we are serious contenders."
  3. 1. Obviously not happy with the results, but I’m glad we put up a fight every game and outplayed them for the most part. 2. I mean if Yukon wins we can pretty much claim to be the second best team, but we just had to play them earlier. 3. I just give them honest answers, and let them know I’m willing to play for anyone who wants me. 4. I’ll say Seattle. 5. Being consistent, and improving on my weaknesses mostly. 6. Most likely back in the VHLM, and I’m excited to have another crack at the Founder’s Cup. In the draft I just want to go to a team that has an interest for keeping me long term.
  4. Review: I like the comparison to the Sedins. It's cool to see brothers enter the league, and hopefully they can both be successful. The use of quotes helps personify the article more, which is important for having an engaging piece of writing. I think most people want the brothers to play with each other, myself included, but I do like how they respect that it might not happen, and they're willing to make an effort to be an impact player wherever they end up. Good luck in the future, and I really hope you guys can end up playing together this upcoming season.
  5. Review: Really good job on the article. I can definitely tell you've done your research on both these players, and respect the amount of effort you put into this. The background information on each of them makes for an interesting read. The inclusions of their points, and TPE gaining rate provides details that stick out to readers who may not know much about the upcoming draft just yet. Also, I really like that you mentioned the success of their teams, given that that can definitely influence their point totals. A good addition to the article was the general comparison, and then using that to propose the idea of a potential rivalry between the two. Obviously I'm supporting my fellow Hound in Sasakamoose, but I do respect the work they've both put in to building great players.
  6. Review: I really loved the story of a kid falling in love with hockey at first sight. Kris seems to be a great character, and you did a really nice job of describing him in a way that you know he's not just extremely motivated like most players are, but that he also just loves to play the game, which is a really likable trait to me. The inclusion of his dad's accident was a surprising one, and one that definitely left you genuinely caring for himself and his family. If there could be one thing to add, maybe just another influence on Kris' life and/or career besides his parents, but really I don't see any real problems with this biography. Great job man. Love Kris' selfless attitude, which I think may translate a bit on the ice with his great passing ability. Go Hounds!!
  7. Review: This was really well thought out. I love all the dynamics in this that give unique perspectives to him as an athlete, and as a person as well. It was cool to see the other elements in his life, like his relationship with his brother, his football career, and his parental situation growing up. It's always interesting to see how different people deal with adversity. The addition of his brother is a detail that makes him much more personified, and gives him a good image in terms of his reputation to the public. Constructively, I would have liked to maybe see some visuals or an idea of how he did in his VHLM season, as well as his rookie VHL season. Overall, great story, good job at making a character that is likable, and one with a unique and interesting background.
  8. Review: Everything just works. It's all blended really well, and it comes together perfectly with the colour scheme. The stats are a great touch for someone like me who doesn't know much about the VHL yet, and the font for the name just above them is ridiculously well done. Also, the worn down concept is extremely well done, and it looks exactly like an old hockey card you'd find at your grandparents house. I mean that in the best way possible. Seriously great work man.
  9. Review: I really like this. The grainy look gives it a realistic old school style, and the logo is blended in really well to the point that I didn't even notice it at first. There seems to be a really subtle glow around him, which makes it more appealing to the eye without taking away from the darker look of the graphic. Great work man, looks really nice!
  10. In a similar way to my player being a shoot first player and not scoring early on, your player is probably just not producing assists just yet but if you stay consistent they’ll start to pile up more and more with time.
  11. Don’t worry about it man. If you stay consistent in earning TPE, the offensive production will come flooding in next season. When I started off, I built my player around goal scoring, but I don’t think I scored until around my tenth game.
  12. With the VHLM Playoffs kicking off soon, S69 prospects will be making their last impressions on VHL GM's before the draft. After finishing 4th in the regular season, Mississauga looks to do damage in the playoffs, beginning with their series against Yukon. The team is rich with talent, and has only gotten better over the course of the season. General managers are sure to have an eye on this team, especially the players preparing to be drafted into the big leagues. Brock Louth - D - 200 TPE (114 Banked) The draft's leader in TPE, Brock Louth is a defenseman who plays way beyond his years. Not only is his defense ahead of his peers, his offensive instincts make him a catalyst for any team he plays for. With a stunning 32 goals and 123 shot blocks on the season for the Hounds, Louth is an attractive choice for an all-situations defender in the VHL. It is no wonder he was selected 2nd overall in last season's dispersal draft. Guy Sasakamoose - D - 182 TPE (0 Banked) Another defenseman who has panned out perfectly for Mississauga. Sasakamoose is an absolute steal of a pick from the third round, and has been a key contributor for his team to this point. At 6'4", 220 lbs, the Canada native shows impressive mobility. The perfect defenseman on the breakout, he can evade forecheckers and make a tape-to-tape first pass like it's nothing. His ability to move the puck has lead to an impressive 52 assists on the season, and an underrated shot contributed for 9 powerplay goals. Patrik Tallinder - LW - 160 TPE (0 Banked) The first forward on the list, Tallinder has proven to be a great offensive player in his first VHLM season. Similar to the team's success, the winger's offensive success progressed steadily through the year. He enters the playoffs on a hot streak that he looks to continue that through the playoffs, ultimately finishing with 34 goals and 4 hat tricks on the season. Tallinder is a fairly lanky player who finds his greatest strengths in his wrist shot, and his ability to create room for himself, using his skating, to get those shots off. Kris Rice - RW - 152 TPE (0 Banked) Kris Rice is a player who seems to see the game as well as anyone he plays with, or against. On both ends of the rink, Rice is able to anticpate plays before they happen, and use his outstanding speed to intercept passes or find passing options of his own. With a combination of speed and puck handling, he is able to maintain possession of the puck with ease until he sees a play open up. Like Sasakamoose, Rice has a shot that he doesn't use as often as some, but can surprise goalies who may be anticipating a pass with a quik release. Chris Murphy - LW - 32 TPE (0 Banked) Murphy is the perfect glue guy in the locker room, and on the bench. He shows strong leadership qualities, and is well-respected by his teammates, even despite his limited offensive production. Never one to shy away from physicality, Murphy hits like a truck, and will stick up for a teammate without hesitation by challenging any opponent to a fight. Tigris Mort - D - 32 TPE (0 Banked) Your typical stay-at-home defender, Mort plays his best hockey in the defensive zone. At 6'3", 180 lbs, he has a long reach and nice mobility to go along with it. He can make a nice first pass, and alleviate some of the pressure being put on by the other team in his own zone. It is certain that a strong playoffs will go a long way for all of these players in their individual careers, so there is no doubt that they will be working extremely hard with Mississauga to bring home the Founder's Cup. While they aren't currently the favourite to win it all, the talent is definitely there. For some on the Hounds, this is their last year in the VHLM, and they, as well as the rest of the team, are trying to make the most out of their last opportunity to win the Founder's Cup together.
  13. 2. Pretty excited, cause I’ll probably get all the leftover treats. 3. I feel confident, given that we finished with the same amount of points, and that we only got better as the season went along. 4. Somewhat, I mean finishing first is always ideal but I won’t dwell on it too much cause we’re in the playoffs either way. 5. I’m definitely looking forward to the draft, but playoffs is my priority for sure. I think that winning would be great for not only myself and my teammates, but the franchise as well. 6. Honestly I think it would be cool to be drafted by an expansion team, so either DC or Prague. I know it’s not a place we’d win right away but it’s somewhere I’d like to be an important part of the solution. 7. I would probably change the slow start. Early in the season, we weren’t winning many games, and I wasn’t producing either, so I think it would be nice to go back and change that.
  14. Sophomore centre Podrick Cast was coming off a very impressive showing in his rookie season with the Riga Reign. His 49 goals and 97 points solidified himself as a future VHL star, yet no one could have expected what would follow. A thirty-five season old record for most goals in a single season, set by Hall-of-Famer Tukka Reikkinen, was broken the very next season by the British superstar. He led the league with a staggering 174 points as well, en route to a fourth pace finish in the regular season. In the last game of the Reign's regular season, Cast had already tied the record. He was to make sure that the opposition, the Titans, were not to stop him from passing it. He did so in dramatic fashion, scoring in the third period of the game. The match was a one-sided battle, with Riga winning by eight goals, and Cast picking up an impressive 4 points on the night. Podrick Cast's record still holds up to this day, with no one legitimately challenging it since then. He has played the past two seasons with Moscow, just missing the playoffs this season.
  15. 1. I don't think so, seeing as we've recently turned it around with three straight wins. 2. Maybe more TPE benefits? Can't say much about it because I don't know much about it. 3. I'll go with Wang 4. I think everyone will go through droughts, but it says a lot about our depth if we can keep winning. A combination of top end players and depth is needed for a championship run, and I think we have it. 5. I think it'll be Minnesota, and we'll win 4-3 in a generally low scoring series. 6. My favourite memory is probably scoring my first goal. It took me a few games and I was checking all the scores to see if I could score one.
  16. It was a pretty simplistic design, but there was a fair amount of work put into it. The background was originally much lighter and only blue feathers, so I made it darker and changed the hue of certain feathers to be green. I also added the wings behind the logo, and made them green as well. Hope this clears things up a little
