  1. Thank you to Daper and Oslo for being an amazing team, you guys really let me improve last season and now I'm going back to Yukon to finish the job!
  2. I’ll apologize for taking it the wrong way and sounding like I was stepping towards anybody in the Kolnkast, not the place to post my thoughts when you've got another situation going on. I actually don’t think anybody on this site is racist or anything of the sort, it was mostly how awkward and offsetting how the jokes were made and the time frame between them. I normally wouldn’t fly off the handle like that but it really got under my skin. Bad enough being a new guy who's only been around almost two months or so, hearing stuff like that makes you start to wonder if you’re generally being ostracized or not.
  3. This thread and the podcast really make me question the integrity of the VHL. I wasn’t going to say anything but what I found very offensive as a black person and resident of Detroit was the bad taste of the Detroit joke that also led into something about Bill Cosby in the same breath. Now, I’m not one for feeling hurt or offended but that was just fucking off putting to me. I’m not saying every black member will be offended, but that was uncalled for. I listened to the entire podcast too so you can only imagine me sitting there late last night wanting to legit resign from the league after hearing that B.S
  4. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (happy belated thanksgiving all you Canadians out there, also sorry for partying too hard UK...)

  6. WEATHERED THE STORM The VHLM Semi-Finals are officially over and the Oslo Storm had fallen a few games short of actually advancing after spending most of the regular season atop of the standings even after reaching a first round bye. The Storm went down to the Watchmen (4 – 2) as the Watchmen advance through the European Conference Semi-Finals and into the VHLM Finals to face the Saskatoon Wild. Meanwhile the team wasn’t that upset, of course it’s never easy losing a semi-final game when a team had been so heavily favored to win the European Conference to begin with. Most of Oslo’s players are ready to take the plunge and further their careers in embarking on their rookie seasons next season there are several standouts like Klose, Hill, Graves, and Light who are all looking to make a name for themselves. Meanwhile others are ready to move as well in hopes of starting their rookie seasons and coping with whatever changes may come with taking the ice in the VHL for the very first time. A lengthy Off-Season might do the Storm players some good, but it won’t be long before they’re back to work doing what they do best. Unless of course they are selected for the World Cup that starts ahead of the 41st season of the VHL. “I loved playing for Oslo this season, we had an amazing set of guys coming into the season, we picked up a few people along the way and we fought to the very end. I know we were favored to win at one point, but that’s just hockey sometimes it isn’t your night and there were two or three games that could’ve gone either way. I don’t regret anything that’s happened, I’m just lucky to have been a part of this sucessful team.” -- Ryan Cattrall
  7. I don’t really care what line I play on, but when you’ve had guys who were in the VHLM with 200+ TPE or have at least had two full seasons and they’re considered “Top Tier” talent coming into the VHL and the amount of hype those players get is insane. That’s actually contradictory to saying to someone like me who’s just joined “Stay Active you’ll get there eventually” that’s actually telling me, no matter what I do I won’t have much of an impact for my team because there are 3 or 4 guys ahead of me.
  8. I know I’m throwing myself at the wolves in this situation but, my only question is where does that put guys like me who are possibly coming in, we haven't played a game in the VHL yet but we're active and been doing our part in the VHLM. Does this mean we become further irrelevant without sufficient TPE to be on the 1st or 2nd lines?

  10. I hated this test the moment my professor in my modern art studies class introduced it. This test is st00pid.
  11. I like this guy, he's hilarious...also should I get tested for STDs?
  12. WINNING & FUSTRATION Oslo Storm have been on a tear since the beginning of the season, they’re working hard, and are primed and ready to take on the Playoffs. As a player though, it’s hard to stay consistent and confident throughout an entire season. There are ups and downs; right about now Ryan Cattrall is feeling one of those down times. Since joining both the Helsinki Titans as a prospect and a member of the Oslo Storm he had certain goals going into the season, so far he’s falling below his own expectations although he’s got the best shot percentage on the team at 16.33% he’s also very solid with 16 goals and 16 assist (he currently sits third amongst his line in assists.) Of course consistency plays a heavy issue and he’s been working extra hard trying to become a solid piece on the second line. Hopefully he pulls himself together soon enough to continue putting effort into helping his team continuing their winning ways for the rest of the season.

  14. Cattrall Adamant For Storms Next Few Games Cattrall is adamant about the next couple of games, after slaving away at being able to control the puck he’s making strides in that department after having lots of passes picked off in the middle of a break away or having a player opposite knocking the puck off his stick and returning it to someone else on the opposition. It’s been an ongoing thing as he’s trying to use the most of his VHLM season to get better to be able to possibly help Helsinki his VHL team in a season or two. So far so good, he’s been doing all the right things to contribute for the Storm and there are no signs of letting up. Meanwhile, The Storm’s next couple of games seems to be really interesting as they do battle against the Watchmen: OSLO'S NEXT 3 GAMES Game 112: @ Game 117: @ Game 122: @ “I’m ready for the next couple games. Hopefully I’m able to provide more of a presence out there on the ice help my teammates and finally get some consistency in my play. As a team I feel like we’re just getting started, we’re getting better and better each and every game, sometimes things might not go our way but this is hockey. The season’s tend to be lengthy and a push towards a cup isn’t as easy as saying ‘we want to become champions’ it’s going to be tough, and I suspect sooner rather than later we’re going to have to climb a hurdle or two.”
  15. 18-3 to begin the season and the Storm are off to the races in their quest to become a cup contender this season. Already there are a few surprises out of Oslo, some of which aren’t really surprises but are nice to see. What’s really surprising is has to be the play of Oslo’s Ryan Cattrall who appears to be doing quite well for himself on his new found VHLM team. Already he’s proving to be a prospect that could develop into a future game changer when it comes to evaluating prospects being called up, he’s got the biggest opportunity right now to define himself as a player and find his style of play that suits him. After being heavily favored as a pass-first wing, he seems to be doing better at getting himself in position to score. Not to mention with teammates like Lloyd Light and Christophe Klose, no wonder he’s been doing so well. Looking at his current stats on the season, there isn’t much to be in shock at but the interesting part is that he’s found himself in an interesting position on the second line. He’s finding ways to score, after being heavily favored as a passer he’s learning how to deal with not being able to handle the puck as well as he thought and take open opportunities. The most interesting part is that Cattrall’s shot percentage is the best on the team at 25.00% only seconded by Emidas Blair’s 20.00% and only slightly down from the 32.00% as of a couple weeks ago, on top of that he’s scored 4 Power Play Goals for the season thus far. When you picture the most physically gifted and dominantly performing wingers in today’s VHL, there’s a certain style of player that seems to come across. They can shoot so eventually his attention had to turn to shooting because both his skating and passing seem to be on par enough to get him around the ice. Still, those of which that are in the VHL are the best of the best and serve as true tests for anybody who’s trying to outmuscle them. At his core, he’s following a blueprint of what kind of player he aspires to be the best can. For a 2nd rounder that’s all you can pretty much ask of him, try to get as good as possibly fast, then maybe they’ll be able to define themselves after being called up. It’s very possible for him to have a very long career in Helsinki if he continues to put together the pieces he needs to become a consistent threat each game – something that’s hard to do when you’re playing with so many incredible players already, it’s hard to get going when they’re already at the point where their games are ether already together or coming together faster than his is – though once he gets it together, there’s going to be an interesting point where he could serve Helsinki well with direct passing, improved mobility and way better vision on the ice for the puck. He’s going to have to want to commit himself to becoming a dynamic playmaker, already his shooting this season suggests he very well could be with a bit more work. That also requires not only just to be able to handle a pass or two, he’s going to have to learn how to shoot far better than the 25.00% he’s been credited with. There’s a long ways to go before you see him start chewing away at the upper echelon of VHL’s elite players, still this all just serves as an early indicator that he’s well on his way to providing not only Oslo with a future playmaker in the making that he was a very bold and smart pickup by Helsinki.
