WOW, just WOW , Thank you so much @Patrik Tallinder Patty Tallinder for gracing me with the honor in being mentioned as an influential part of you Patrik Tallinder the future HOF Ballot and your career is humbling to say the least. When i first joined the VHL during my rookie* season in the VHLM no countin S70 where i only played 8 games. I was a highly touted draft pick and was climbing the draft boards astronomically by the time of the VHL draft I was a consesus 1st round pick from league wide mock drafts all had Elsby as a top 12 pick (This is prior to the VHL expansion, where there was only 12 picks a round rather than 16) and the NHL 20 video you made recounting the season and having all the retirement speaches synchronized perfectly with the animations and graphics you used and to have made it into the video in the VHL draft portion even the short 5 seconds i was on there was probably still the coolest part of my VHL experience, as a player that is . Well with Theme Week around a Vacation during this Pandemic… Well Spencer Elsby had the Vacation of a lifetime this past fall, during the pandemic! My Fiancée and I were in a situation where she had banked time off work and shortly coming after the news my classes for the fall had been confirmed they would not be in class and all done through online. We decided were going to drive across the country for a month straight and go out to British Columbia and sight see everywhere along the way. The drive from Sault Ste Marie Ontario to Chilliwack , British Columbia where we would be staying for a week was estimated by the experts at “Google” to be 36 hours on the road, which evens out to about 6 full days of driving with 8 hours each day on the road on average not factoring in any stops…. So within two weeks after the plan we sporadically packed up into our home on wheels for the next 32 days in my Ford Escape with not an inch of room to spare. This trip was nothing short of the trip of a lifetime and it was clearly meant to be from the moment we left the city limits out of the corner of my eye I could see a animal like shadow running. As we got closer I realized what Im looking at is a Wolf and its running along the shoulder of the highway … alone ? and just running in pure joy the by far largest species of dog I have ever laid eyes on. The smile on that wolf was breathtaking, Jocelynn and I were both in such awe we literally were speechless for 30 seconds before both asking eachother “Did you just see that?!”. This trip has so many amazing stories and memories , the amount of places we travelled to and different parts of the country we saw was incredible and an experience like no other. Going from the forestry and inland lake of Ontario with all the colors in the fall, through the plains and prairies in Saskatchewan… you really could see you dog for days if he ran away it is that flat, WOW….. To the mountains in Alberta and the glaciers and Ocean fronts of British Columbia, Canada is such a diverse country and having the opportunity to travel and see each of these amazing cities and activities we did along the way was nothing short of incredible and impossible to forget. The wildlife in Alberta that fate had destined upon our eyes is hard to believe let alone the Wolf sighting. When turning into the small tourist city of Banff, Alberta there were two cars that pulled over immediately and a man jumped out stealthy with his giant camera as there Is a MASSIVE bull elk cross the street, its antlers couldn’t have been any shorter than 8 feet ! Later that night on our way to our cabin in Jasper we came to a traffic halt only to see further ahead it was a group off Ram or Billy Goats crossing the highway At first glance we saw 3 “Ram”, once the traffic began to move I saw 4 more goats coming up from across the highway out of the river and up the ditch in attempt to cross as well. Ahead of us was THIRTY THREE goats ! 33 ! There were babies , mamas , papas , grandpapas , grandmamas the whole clan was together it was incredible. There were ram on the side of the highway, on the highway , in the river on both sides, they were everywhere ! The best story ive been saving for last and that our incredible , you wouldn’t believe if I didn’t have video story of the herd of I don’t even know what breed of fucking giant elk and there two male leaders and the entire run down of what happened it was real life national geographic Infront of my eyes ! In Summary , After the VHL draft and going through a season in the VHL and the MAJOR differences in the role an AGM plays in the VHLM compared to the VHL. I think its safe to say you can ask anyone that knows me and my work cant argue that my biggest asset i can provide to a team is my General Managerial Knowledge. This is a "SIM" League yes , but the real life aspects are all there , and IRL my Life goal is the same as here to be a GM. I have worked as a scout for 7 years as well as highest tier certification in Canadian "Jr A" Hockey ontop of deferring a Full time position with an OHL team until i finish my degree. Scouting and managing, as well as skill assessing and spending countless countless hours "at the rink" in the case, doing my deep dives into tracking activity and always coming up with new ways to incentivize activity for the users VIA personal recognition and ensuring the users is always feeling valued (Gifting them surprise graphics,Writing Media Spots with In-depth analysis and scout reports) doing anything and everything to increase each users 'utility" from the experience and keeping things new and exciting. YOU The VHL Community are the ones that make this possible through all your hard work behind the scenes that goes unrecognized like the users that run the portal/updates/Simmers/Mods/Commissioners/BoG. Goodbye , Fairwell and Until Next Time BC Well here we go again, Spence King and a shocking AGM change mid-season… Moving from the power house Vancouver Wolves organization in his time spent with @Beaviss. King is now on his way to joining the up and coming superstar GM and Legend in the making , the 2nd GM in Marlins history @thadthrasher.This surprise transition came after the Marlins AGM spot opened up. GM Beav and I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to help forward my front office career and build my reputation towards being the #1 candidate for the next VHLM GM position. Beav and my previous boss @DMaximus support me in my goals and have done everything they can to help me work towards earning that reputation community wide and making myself the sure-fire number 1 candidate for the next open VHLM GM position. Moving from the VHL to the VHLM as an AGM was seen by a lot as extremely confusing as it looks to be a demotion from the pros to the M; however, this isn’t the case at all. My greatest strengths come as a front office position in the M rather than the VHLM. With my people skills and drive, I aim to build the most prestigious organization and make the most realistic and inclusive experience for members possible. I know this will help with retention and make sure that these VHLM stars don’t lose interest when going into the VHL. The future plans that Thad and I have, coupled with our ambition is a endlessly burning flame that is about to set the community on fire. During my tenure in the VHL as AGM, it was a MAJOR learning curve just like it was in my first season in the VHLM. I had only been a member for maybe 4 months and already working with Dmax as AGM in Philly. The story is the same in Vancouver and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such amazing people. Beav held my hand basically and helped me every step of the way, always quick to answer any questions or clarify anything with me. He was always sharing his invaluable knowledge on building and maintaining a successful franchise each season. Just look at the Wolves, Beav’s accolades and draft history speak for themselves. I could not have asked for a better opportunity than what I was given by Beav. I learned about trade value and VHL Cap rules as well as scouting for the VHL draft and the MAJOR differences in the role of AGM in the VHL compared to VHLM. Dmax was the one who offered me my first AGM and front office position where I spent 4 seasons before Beaviss actually approached Dmax about acquiring me as an AGM for him in Vancouver. Fun fact: I never had any intentions of ever being an AGM in the VHL nor did I think it was even in the realm of possibility for me to be on any VHL GM’s radar for something like this to occur. It went a little something like this. Beav was in search of a new AGM, however rather than following the norm and posting the job listing and taking applications, Beav, the living legend, gave a call to THE Dmax inquiring about the permission to approach me with a job offer. Before I even had time to read the message from Dmax I saw a message from THE Beaviss, which had me in a little bit of a shock and awe to be honest. I had recently asked Beav previously in an interview in a discord chat for a different media spot in the works however its much more fitting here. “So Beav, not everyone may know this but I was hired by you in S75 past the mid-season mark to takeover the reigns as AGM, what most people may not know is that I actually never applied for this position, the role of being an AGM in the pros was something I had never even thought of as a possibility, I LOVE and LOVED every moment as AGM in Phill with Dmax however Dmax has been pushing me to keep applying and encouraging me and reassuring me I will be an amazing VHLM GM and this is where you come into my VHL story. I received a message on discord from you only moments later to see that Dmax was making me aware of the situation and that you had asked his permission to speak with me about the possibility of a "promotion." Dmax, my partner in crime and BFF in the VHL community, the reason I am still here is Dmax lets be real, the idea or thought of leaving my position as AGM in Philly was never something I ever considered and truly was certain I would be the AGM in Philly for... ever maybe , or just follow Dmax wherever and ultimately earn that VHLM job. I could do what I’m best at. engaging and creating the most positive realistic and inclusive discord server and team atmosphere ever seen. Now enough of me ranting about myself which like you said on draft night to Josh "Selsby likes to talk ALOT"- Beaviss in voice chat. Squirrel.... Sorry my ADHD is obvious. Now FINALLY, Beav, I still wonder to this day what is it that lead you to reach out to Dmax about me rather than taking applicants like all other GMs seem to be doing as of late. You went out of your way to personally reach out to me and eventually “poach” me from the Reapers. This is a great idea !!! I know there has to be some content in the history books with mister SimonT over the seasons.... This might however be a tough one for 1st gen users (most specifically BRAND SPANKIN new users to write about assuming 1st gen users have never been exposed to STHS, writing a media spot about something you dont even know anything about is never good content lol ...
