  1. This song is admittedly not from this month or week, but one that I've been thinking about recently. I picked my guitar back up recently to not let it keep collecting dust, also got Rocksmith 2014 to try and get some motivation to learn some songs by bands I loved growing up. Love the riffs in this song and while I haven't found full tabs yet, I'd like to play it eventually since it's not the most complicated from what I can tell, outside the solo at least. Just a nice jam. Also makes me wish I had an electric kit instead of an acoustic drum set, would definitely jam to some of these songs with a double bass pedal since you can control the sound a lot more on an electric kit.

Actual VHL related, Moscow is on to the conference finals. Surprisingly quickly at that too, 3-0 over WAR and 4-1 over MAL. Victory Cup curse is 100% real, and I will never stop believing in it. While Moscow had the pole position for the EU for a while, we slumped a bit around TDL time after we upgraded a defenseman (fucking Simon). But I think we messed around with lines a bit once we had the playoff spot secured and just wanted to figure out what would work best, accepting that we'd lose some games during that process. Seems like it's on a decent pace having surged through the first two rounds, but now London will be a stiff test. Personally, I predicted London to win the cup, and so far I've been right with all of my fantasy zone winner predictions. Not sure if I had SEA over NYA though, I think I did. So if my fantasy zone selections are gospel, it'll be a tough run for Moscow here. But we'll keep up the good vibes and see if we can keep this underdog run going a bit longer.

Presser for the week ending 4/28

    1. Are we having fun yet? Tight race in the EU.
    2. What team have we played that has surprised you the most?
    3. It's been a bit dead in the locker room lately, why?
    4. How is your player doing compared to your expectations?
    5. Do you think we need to shake lines up or just ride it out?
    6. Who does Spartan listen to on Spotify?

    1. I'm a bit miffed at how poorly Syko is playing and how adding a defense upgrade has us playing worse than before. I had higher expectations than a WC spot.

    2. Probably Warsaw, even with Summers I wasn't sure if they'd take much of a step forward compared to last season. On the flip side, Helsinki for seemingly struggling a lot before trading players away. But too little too late for them.

    3. It's been rough in the sims so a bit of that definitely carries over. Weather has also been getting nicer so I hope others are also enjoying time away from online activities.

    4. Said it before, Syko is shite.

    5. We have line tweaks coming in today, we'll see what worked best across the season for playoffs.

    6. Definitely not the new Taylor Swift album(s), I've seen some of the lyrics across social media and I don't get how she's considered a good lyricist. Some of the most awful lyrics and cringe topics I've ever seen in songwriting.

  3. Fitting title for me as a GM. No cups, meme away.

Could this be the season that changes? Possibly, but this is also the narrowest EU conference I've ever seen during my time as Moscow GM. Every playoff team has a chance to still clinch the top seed, or go on a few game skid that would result in a fall to the 5th seed and a wild card appearance. Moscow currently sits 4th in the standings, just a few points away from the lead. Inconsistent performances against stiff competition have dropped Moscow from the top seed, but Kronchy Kardashian's @Garsh addition will hopefully provide some stability once the chemistry and lines begin to click.

Outside of Moscow, I feel like I'm just pretty unaware. Or just not caring for much. I've noticed myself struggling to finish my one 2 TPE task per week beyond my job pay, and I don't read as much on the forums as I used to. Could just be an effect from moving out and having a better life going on, could also be VHL burnout. Whether that's actually burnout or not is to be seen, as I'm still pretty comfortably maintaining my 12/capped per week average across my now 4 year VHL career. GM'ing is still a treat, and Moscow has a nice future asset pool to make use of. But I'm just not seeing much else around the VHL community to spark interest beyond my LR and the league/gaming folks in the main server.

Quick, someone go start some drama (if mods come asking, it wasn't me encouraging it).

  4. Maybe if there's some hesitation to dreg up older players' eligibility/worthiness, we could make it a designated slot once every 2-4 seasons like we shifted the Elmebeck towards. If we're hesitating because we don't want a sudden surge of older nominations and discussion driving at the cost of current retirees' chances being hit, maybe we make the older players an additional induction on a periodic basis?

Edit: Not saying that this is the current mindset, but just something I figured might be on folks' minds since it was something on my mind as well.

I keep looking at him in that lens but then the counterpoint is 215 of his 730 points came in his rookie and sophomore seasons (meta). Don't think he'd have those totals if he started 2 seasons later.

Good point, thanks for that clarification!

I don't know about Papa. Best within his mini generation but put him in the line of Camus, then Booberry, and now Teno & Summers, and he doesn't stand out that much.

Specifically for this point, might be odd to compare to Teno & Summers considering how his career was split between the meta era and the hybrid era. Booberry had 2 more full seasons in hybrid than Papa, and also around 100 more games. Papa had .002 lower career SV% and .01 higher GAA, and just 20 fewers wins. I don't even know if his resume looks worse than Camus' minus the Kanou either. Papa was also the starting goalie for 4 of Moscow's 5 finals appearances (was a backup in S80), which shouldn't be discounted either.

I wouldn't mind Jannula here for a 2nd option as the other defensemen (Welch, Johannson, PEB) are mildly interchangeable. Johannson might be my top choice considering fewer number of games to come close to PEB's point total. Kisslinger could also be a sneaky choice because of the sheer number of points despite lacking the awards to support his case. Very underrated career.

So I hate to do this so last minute but due to a number of unforeseen circumstances (worked later, high winds and thunderstorms freaking Luna out, etc) I’m gonna have to postpone Zoo Tycoon night until tomorrow when things should hopefully have calmed down enough that it’s less likely my power goes out or my dog loses her mind the entire time. Start time should still be the same if everything goes to plan, just one day pushed.

    Scammed

    1. if you had to have one NHL player on your team to win a game who would it be and why?

    2. Who would have the best style on your VHLM/E/VHL team?

    3. if you had to eliminate one NHL team which would it be and why?

    1. Sidney Crosby no doubt, just the best all around player in the game and would be an elite player to add to Moscow's forward core.

    2. I imagine Leif Reingaard has decently style, could envision @Zetterberg and his creativity with graphics translating over to fashion.

    3. Yotes bc they're gone already pretty much lol

    1. Who's been your favorite GM during your time in the VHL/E/M? Why?

    2. What do you think makes a LR fun in the VHL?

    3. What's the best method you've seen that keeps a LR active?
