  1. Score 40 points - Goal Achieved At the start of the season it was a question of if my player would score any points at all, let alone a total of 40. It took me approximately 10 games to score my first VHL point. After the slow start I had a pretty average middle half of a season, with my player scoring 29 points in 58 games. However, I gave my scoring a bit of a boost in one update and it saw immediate results. Through the next 13 games I saw my player go on to score 15 points and exceed my season goal of 40. Be a top Rookie - Goal Failed This one was more of a stretch goal, as I didn’t expect to do so well as a rookie when I was on a top team like Seattle. Especially considering that there are now 16 teams in the league and rookies are more valuable than ever. I did however come closer to the top 10 than I thought I would at one point, as I am currently within 12 points of 10th place in rookie scoring.
  2. 1. What is your favorite memory from the regular season? 2. Do you think this team is good enough to make a deep run in the playoffs? 3. How is your Stanley Cup bracket looking so far? If you don't have a bracket, who do you hope wins? 4. What kind of music have you been listening to lately? 5. If you were put in charge of a VHLM expansion, where would you put a team? 6. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  3. Hey gorlab, you should maybe join Saskatoon
  4. I heard Berocka talking about how bad he was at fantasy once, and he wasn't kidding
  5. Seattle was victorious over Warsaw a few days ago in perhaps one of the biggest blowouts of the season, taking it 8-1.The Seattle Bears really padded the stats this game with eight players having multi point games. The first star of the game was Hulk Hogan, who had two goals and two assists. Scott Greene was the second star and the only other player with more than three points, with a total of four assists on the night. Aleelee Kiak had a career night with three assists, which was odd for the Bear’s lowest point scorer. Berocka Sundqvist also had three assists, while rookie Timothy Brown had a goal and two assists. Oddly the second star was not any of the three players just mentioned. It was Uhtred, who had two goals and no assists. A bit of an odd choice, but that’s just a quirk with the STHS. Goaltender Rayz Funk shut the door for Seattle with 23 saves on 24 shots.
  6. 1. We currently sit at 7th in the standings, but our post-season chances are almost certain. What will we need to do to compete in the playoffs? 2. Do you think our boy Jesper Norberg will be able to hang on and win the Alexander Chershenko trophy? (Most goals) 3. Which player has the best/most funny name in the VHLM? 4. I picked the Canadiens to win the stanley cup in my bracket. Any chance this actually happens? 5. What is your take on Tuukka Rask opting out in the middle of the first round? 6. Has anyone tried the new sourdough chicken club sandwich from Burger King yet? I have and it was pretty heckin good
  7. As some of you may know, my mind tends to wander a bit and because of this I think from time to time about names for my future sim league players. The VHL was my first sim league, and my favorite. Throughout this whole covid pandemic the VHL has been the one constant in my life. Combine my love for the VHL with my short attention span and random thought process and it has come up with some interesting ideas over the last couple of months. Here are a few potential names that have crossed my mind. Bidoof | D | Japan This was a name that I was originally going for when I first joined the league, but ultimately decided to go with my actual name for my first player in the league, for a few reasons. The first of which was that I thought maybe joke names weren’t allowed, and that single names would’ve been disallowed in STHS. After seeing a player named Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen and a player simply named “Apple” a week later I discovered that I missed my chance for nothing. Another reason for that being I could use it as a GM name if I were to control a team sometime down the road. Bidoof would’ve also been my SBL player, but Out of the Park Baseball required me to have both a first and last name, so I decided on “Ocean Man” instead which led to the copypasta meme. My love for this name is that Bidoof is a weak pokemon with a goofy name, and I would’ve made him a hard hitting defenseman that was short, but really thicc. He would be Japanese because that is where pokemon originated. Wane Gretsky | C | United States The inspiration for this recreate was from the KHL All-Star game this season, in which Dynamo Minsk forward Slava Gretsky was selected for a roster by the fans. Humorously, Gretsky wore number 99. This got me thinking of a potential Wayne Gretzky knockoff, with a slightly different last name. However, I decided to take this a step further and change his first name as well. The backstory for this was that his parents were farmers living in rural Russia in the 90s, and they immigrated to Minnesota. Gretsky was pushed by his parents to pursue a career in hockey, and living in Minnesota he had the right motivation to do so. Wayne Gretzky was one of hockey’s superstars in the timeframe that his parents grew up, so they decided to name their son after him. However, they were not the most literate in Russian, let alone in English and they spelled his name wrong on his birth certificate. I have briefly researched the first name Wane to find out that it does indeed exist, but almost exclusively as a girl’s name in Brazil. I would like to think that the 7 people in the States and Australia that named their boys “Wane” were just terrible at spelling. Wane Gretsky’s parents were some of those people.
  8. I'm thinking we lynch someone today, and then the jailor can jail someone tonight.
  9. I'm still catching up, just trying to figure out claims
  10. Two seasons after the infamous 20 game goalless streak in his tenure in Saskatoon, Seattle rookie Timothy Brown is having a tough time in his rookie season in the VHL.Brown got off to a very slow start right out of the gate, not getting his first point until the fourth of fifth sim of the season. My theory is that Brown’s poor rookie seasons have been affected by several different factors. The first is being a rookie on a good team, which limits ice time. It’s hard to get many points if you’re not on the ice. The second is just plain bad luck. Brown’s first goal of his VHLM career was on the penalty kill, to mock him even further. My third theory is Brown’s high checking build lands him in the penalty box far too often, which causes him to miss time on the ice. Hopefully he can pick up the pace and have a strong finish to his season, similar to how he did in the VHLM.
  11. It's fine lol. I haven't even tried making a sig yet ?
  12. 16. If you had to relocate a VHLM team, which would it be? Probably Halifax. They haven't been around for very long and have no history of success so it wouldn't hurt very many people's feelings I bet. 17. What city should get a VHL team next? why? I was shocked that Edmonton doesn't have a team, so them. 18. What team should get a VHLM team next? why? Quebec. They have no teams since they relocated to Vancouver. 19. You have to fire a commish. Which one are you tossing to the curb? Probably beaviss. He is a canucks fans after all. 20. You are hired as dictator of the league. What is the first thing you will do? Bring a VHL team to Saskatchewan. 21. Make a bold prediction for this season. Make it ballsy but make sure it happens. I bet one of the expansion teams will make the playoffs somehow.
  13. Welcome back dude ?

  14. Lucas Brandt | C | Moscow Unsurprisingly, Brandt has had the superior rookie season out of the four Saskatoon alumni from S72. This is due to Moscow’s partial rebuild phase, in which some rookies are getting large amounts of ice time. This statement is not to take away from Brandt’s success so far this season, however. The centre is currently in a tie with James Rose for 1st in rookie scoring with 39 points. He’s also second in Moscow’s team scoring, trailing behind only Henrik Zoiderberg. Brandt’s VHL numbers are kind of alien in comparison to his VHLM stats, in the sense that he is projected to finish the season with more goals than assists. This is something he has never done before. Lucas has demonstrated that he is clutch when it counts so far this season, as he is tied for second for game winning goals league-wide. Grekkark Gyrfalcon | G | Malmo Malmo is in a somewhat similar position as Moscow, in that they are in somewhat of a rebuild which allows rookies to play. Grekkark Gyrfalcon benefited greatly from the expansion, getting the starting job in his new home in Malmo right away. They are a lower tier team that gives up a lot of goals, which shows in the stats department. Gyrfalcon has given up the third most goals in the league, while also dropping out of the top 10 in goals against average. However, he’s stepped up in the role reasonably well for a rookie, with a current 0.918 save percentage. A high goals against average with a reasonably high save percentage shows that his high number of goals allowed is a team issue, not his own. Tyler Walker | D | Malmo The other Saskatoon alumni that frequents the Malmo roster is defenseman Tyler Walker, who also benefits from a large amount of ice time with the squad. While it is difficult to compare individual performances between positions, I believe Gyrfalcon has had the better performance so far of the two Malmo rookies. Walker is currently second in scoring by defensemen on the Nighthawks, following behind star defenseman Condor Adrienne. Tyler has relatively low numbers in terms of points with 29 points in 39 games, but don’t let this fool you. He is a full year or two behind many of the current rookie point leaders, and many say that he is the best player to come out of the S73 VHL draft. Walker showed that he was ready to lead a team after only a single full season in the VHLM, and will become a star player in the VHLM. Timothy Brown | RW | Seattle Timothy Brown was Saskatoon’s leading goal scorer a season ago, but of the four alumni he has fared the worst so far. With only 17 points in 39 games, he is last in points of the three skaters in the bunch and also second last in scoring on Seattle’s team. Many believe that Brown’s difficulty scoring stems from his limited ice time with Seattle. The Bears are currently in second place behind Helsinki in the standings, and they rely on their stars quite a lot. The fact that Seattle’s only other rookie, Jacob Tonn, has also done poorly further strengthens this theory. Many believe that Brown is the best pure goal scorer of the Saskatoon alumni, and if he is able to find his scoring touch at the VHL level he will be able to become a star.
  15. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure for S73 players or newer there is no TPE limit. Anyone else has to be in the VHLM to be eligible.
