music Another Day, Another Off-Topic Discussion. Music!
dlamb replied to thadthrasher's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Hello friends, thought I'd post here instead of creating my own. Give me some song suggestions! Any genre, just trying to expand my personal playlist. I only have one playlist I constantly have on, just shuffled, if anyone is interested (it goes back to 2017 and I haven't deleted anything, pls no judge): https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4f3useQHPjiq1VokVhvyXh?si=a677953a67b941fa -
Good luck in Budapest, Al! Great read about some insight to the man behind the screen, I'm glad that you've always found a way to come up stronger when at your lows. Too bad we never got to grab a beer when you were down here, maybe one day. Shut up and play spreadsheet hockey.

Warsaw Predators Centreman, Dakota Lamb, is now in his 6th season removed from his draft, and he has enjoyed his career up to this point. This season, he has 16 goals and 41 assists for 57 points, helping the Predators pace the European Conference with a 27-9-5 record. This has almost been par for the course over the last few seasons, with Warsaw being perennial contenders. However, once again, Lamb has a contract ending at the end of this season. Although he has tested free agency twice, and re-upped with his draft team both times, he knows there is always a slight possibility that a team could swoop in. Nonetheless, that is on the backburner for now as the Preds try to finally take home the VHL's most prestigious award - the Continental Cup. If this is the last season in Warsaw for Lamb, he has enjoyed an amazing career with the team. After being taken 10th Overall in the S73 VHL Draft, he has potted 155 goals, 245 assist, for 400 points in 329 games. Warsaw is and will continue to be his 2nd home, but there is always a nagging thought in the back of his mind that he misses his parents back home in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. He told us that he would not like to make any more comments to the media on his contract status, as all the focus should be on the team, his teammates, and the games ahead. (220 Words)

1. Which team have you most enjoyed facing so far this season? Thus far? Moscow. We're 4-0-1 in 5 games against them, although most have been kept close. Honorable mention to Helsinki, always feels good destroying them and we're 4-1-0 so far against them, with 22 goals on them being our most against any single opponent. 2. What has been more surprising to you: Toronto's recent collapse or Moscow's recent surge? Toronto collapsing isn't a surprise at all, pretty par for the course. Moscow I'd say for sure, they're sort-of mid rebuild. 3. Who is the leading candidate to get Warsaw's nomination for Most Improved Player in this early stretch of the season? I'd either give Chris Reynolds or Victor Grachev the nomination here, Reynolds is on pace to smash his career-highs, and Grachev has blossomed in the absence of Latrell Mitchell. 4. Got any words of advice for WAR-G so he stops being such a scrub and holding us back when we have to play him? He needs to bulk up a bit, obviously he has no reflexes at all, so just being a big warm body in front of the net is probably the best we're getting from him. 6. Despite being by far the worst team in the standings, Vancouver has given us a run for our money every time we've played them. What can we do to avoid playing down to our competition in those games? Shove the score down their throats. I feel we've gone into those games with a light attitude, we need to focus on our game and play to the best of their ability and absolutely bury them like I know we can. 7. Which non-Warsaw player do you think has been the most impressive so far this season and why? Has to be Lee Xin on Chicago. Hasn't hit the 90 point mark in their career before, but on pace to absolutely smash it this season.

Retired Numbers came up in gen chat, started looking and saw this subforum and nothing has been updated in years. Unless I'm missing something and there's an updated one somewhere, it would be nice to see at a glance every team's retired numbers https://vhlforum.com/forum/123-retired-numbers/

Haha, yeah I guess that makes sense too I was just thinking of an alternate colour and while looking at Stockholm's wikipedia page I saw the flag/crest. The whole point of the colour change in my mind was just to differentiate it from the Q logo.
-
I've been kind of obsessed with potential franchises for the new VHLE, and one frontrunner for a team is Stockholm, with their S41-S57 Vikings being rumored as a lock to make their return. Everyone is raving about their logo, however I think there is a few problems with the main one, as seen below: 1. It's a modernized Baie-Comeau Drakkar (QMJHL) logo Obviously, it is just a logo with the same theme, I get that. But even down to the colour scheme, I can't get it out of my head that it is the same thing, but modern. I suggest changing the main colour to BLUE, instead of red, as an homage to the flag of Stockholm (seen below), which gives it local flair, and sets it completely apart from any other hockey logo I can think of. 2. Text If you look at every NHL logo, hell, every major sports logo, the majority, if not all logos, do not use text that isn't incorporated into the logo itself. The VHL has seemed to be removing these kinds of logos slowly but surely, which is awesome, so why not continue the trend with Stockholm? I think text is done here better than some logos we have, I just like the ones that speak for themselves without text. TLDR: Blue-ify Stockholm pls (now that I'm looking its kinda shit without text, definitely needs text or something to fill the space at the bottom) Please voice your opinions, I want to see what people think. Also, the alt logo is pretty sick, but it's meh as a main crest.

Yeah, I like the sound of that. Anti french-sentiment around here or what?!!?

Double whammy, oh well. The whole point was saying pls dont add 2 Swedish, 2 Russian, and 1 Finnish team pls

The recent announcement of the VHL: Europe has got me excited for the concept of new (and old) cities getting official teams in the VHL universe. I am a sucker for history, but also I would like to see the best representation of Europe as a whole in the Victory Hockey League Cinematic Universe. Here is a chart of countries by registered hockey players: Now, obviously, the VHL doesn't really need hockey players, nor population, leading to some "fun" cities getting teams (Davos), but I think it's still noteworthy. Looking at the chart, as it applies to the VHLE, France, Germany, Slovakia, Norway, and Hungary are the top 5 countries by registered skaters in Europe that do not have representation on this site. While I do think a one or two Swedish teams are going to make it into the new league, I would like to see at least half, or 3 teams, in countries that do not have a team currently. In my opinion, those should be: Germany (Cologne, Berlin, or Hamburg) France (Nice, Marseilles, or Rouen) and for a fun one, I'd like to see Hungary (Budapest being the only plausible option imo) The other 3, I'd like to see as revived franchises from VHL past. Vasteras, Stockholm, and Bratislava. Obviously I didn't put a ton of thought into it, but nonetheless I am super excited to see what teams and cities make the cut. If my wishes were granted, we would add 4 new countries into the league, which I think should be the bare minimum for the VHLE, seeing that it is representing Europe solely. (270-ish words)

1. We've recovered from losing our first two games to sit at 9-2-0, topping the league and once again holding the league's best goal differential. Was there any doubt in your mind we'd recover after the rough first sim? Absolutely no doubt. I'm not sure why, but there seems to be outside doubters on us, but in our room, no, not at all. 2. Chris Reynolds has been on a tear in recent games, leading the team in goals and the league in GWGs while Aloe Dear and Dakota Lamb sit top 3 in the league in assists, and top 10 in the league in points. Whose performance have you been most impressed with on the team thus far? Reynolds 100%. He's always been a great player, but I'm glad he's come out of the gate on absolute fire this season. He absolutely deserves it. Lamb and Dear doing their usual things 3. Which line would you say has been the driving force for the team thus far? I don't think I can give a definitive answer, we have such a well-rounded team, everyone contributes. 4. What are your thoughts on the recently-announced VHLE? I like the idea, but will have to see it in action before I can make a decision on how I really feel. I'm always excited for new teams, though. 5. What is your favorite animal? It's in the name 6. Which real-life sport do you think has the most interesting offseason? The most interesting? Probably the NFL. So much movement, from players to coaches to drafts, and all of those things have a huge impact on the upcoming season.
