  4. Hi! I'm glad you found the snippet I posted informative - that was one of the hopes! Like Bana, I was actually aware that you were female (I'm not really sure how tbh), but it's great that you shared this so that folks who didn't know this have something to refer to. I do think that player & user gender are separate. Luckily, user gender is really easy to share and navigate now that the we have the pronouns feature built into the forums. Player gender, however, is much more difficult to share and establish. It can be somewhat difficult to remember which fake hockey players are male and which are female especially when they don't have traditional names (e.g., Chicken Wing). User and player genders also aren't always the same (like Bana). I'd encourage you to correct people when they're wrong but have grace with those who will forget/continue to be wrong. Happy holidays!
  5. I agree so i'm upping the bid to $15 CAD on gorlab's behalf
  6. It may be considered that way, but there's an alternate explanation as well. There are a lot of identities that fall under "non-binary." Here are a couple definitions for the explanation I'm about to give: demiboy/girl: an identity to describe someone who doesn't fully identify with the gender that traditionally corresponds with the sex assigned at birth. genderflux: a term to describe the fact that a person's gender may vary from time to time. People who experience genderflux may not use the same pronouns all the time. That means that, when somene asks, "what are your pronouns?", it's easier to say "he/they" or "she/they" than it is to pick just "she/her," "he/him," or "they/them," for example, on one day and prefer a different set the next. Some people, like those who identify as a demiboy/girl may decide that they're okay with the gendered and a-gendered pronouns. Some people are in this case and use both but have a preference for one or the other. I also wanted to add that these aren't the only situations in which a person may list more than one set of pronouns. Does that make sense?
  7. Another week, another opportunity at free TPE missed because Malmo lost to Davos 2 Uncapped TPE @IamMOOSE @tinafrombobsburgers @McWolf @tcookie25 @MexicanCow123 @CptSquall @fromtheinside @GustavMattias
  8. 1. I kinda wanna hear your answer for this?? I think right now it's Bek because he's the one who posted the gender-inclusivity announcement, but that could easily change at any time. 2. Warsaw has had a solid couple of seasons. They've got some good folks over there, like Dakota Lamb, who Socks played with in Miami. 3. tbh probably you. I feel like you'd roll up with either the fuckshittiest gift or you'd have some brilliant idea that was absolutely outrageous. Regardless, I think your contribution would be the most notable. 4. No, not everyone celebrates Christmas!! Probably the same thing I do when it's not holiday time?? I dunno what to do with myself when I'm not in school, I just work, I guess. 5. My player would never be a professional wrestler. If he were, it'd be because he got pulled in out of the crowd bc they didn't have enough participants. 6. If you guys get a dog, then I'm getting us a cat and naming it "dog." I'll show up to the locker room saying, "I got dog" and you all would be like "??? the dog has a name you insensitive asshole" and I'd be like "no, i got dog"
  9. This week for VHFL updates, I decided to editorialize some interesting cases we’ve got across the league! I’ll also be posting updates for each group in the thread like usual. Also keep an eye out for @tcookie25's "Around the VHL" articles for VHFL updates! The biggest jump/fall Group 14 has seen quite a bit of movement in points. @VinCal, @Jubis, and @domg5 are fighting in the top three, separated only by about 13 points. This past Monday, VinCal was in the lead with 732.99. Only 9 points away, Jubis held a close second with 732.72 and feeling the heat of domg5 in third with 721.97. This week, VinCal has dropped to third with 890.39, and domg5 jumped up to 907.22. Jubis holds second at 893.34, only about 3 points ahead of VinCal. In Group 19, TTtheT has fallen from 3 to 5 and bumped hooperorama and bigAL up one spot each. These two groups are the only ones where users have moved more than one slot, but it still goes to show how much fluctuation is still possible at this point in the season! Most movement Group 6 takes the cake for the most movement this week: everyone in the group switched places with someone else. Last week, the order was @Caboose30, @solas, me, @tcookie25, @tinafrombobsburgers, then @Peace. This week, solas holds first place by about 11 points, followed by Caboose, then tcookie25, me, Peace, and tinafrombobsburgers. No other group saw this kind of shifting - at least one user (or DQ roster) remained in place from last week. First and second, third and fourth, and fifth and sixth in Group 6 are going to be neck and neck as we close out the season; second and third are separated by about 9 points, and fifth and six are only about 18 points apart. As we close out the season, I don’t expect any one user to pull too far ahead of another in this group. Smallest differences With only 86.16 points separating first and sixth place, Group 8 has the tightest group in the league. In sixth place, @youloser1337 has 830.38 points, which could be anywhere between fourth and sixth place in other groups. @KaleebtheMighty holds first place with 916.54 points, which could be anywhere between first and fourth place in other groups. Surprisingly, although this group has the smallest difference between first and sixth place, they the closest runs between users actually goes to another group. Users with < 2 point difference Group 16: @Cxsquared (884.62) and @Jtv123 (884.38) As of Monday, Jtv held first place, 20 points ahead of cxsquared in second place. Jtv held first place for about 3 weeks, but after only a few days after Monday’s update, these two are only .24 points apart. Although Jtv has some high-scoring players on his roster, like Condor Adrienne and Jacques Lafontaine, Cxsquared has a more consistent roster with points spread more evenly across players. I’ll be interested to see how this plays out between the two of them! Group 7: @N0HBDY (819.59) and @Nicolai488 (819.34) These two, currently duking it out for fifth place in Group 7, are separated only by .25 points. As of Monday, Nicolai held fifth with 677.32 points, and N0HBDY trailed with 657.19. Similar to the case in Group 16, Nicolai has two players carrying his roster, Guy Sasakamoose and Victor Grachev. N0HBDY, on the other hand, has more consistent players on his roster, like Hugh Jass, Jimmy Spyro, Jungkok, and Ray Sheilds, all of whom individually have less than Sasakamoose or Grachev but more than any of Nicolai’s other players. This just goes to show that one player can’t make or break a roster! Group 10: @aksuko (857.16) and @Spartan (855.63) Aksuko and Spartan have been fighting for third for the past couple weeks. Spartan held third for the last two updates, but in the time between those updates, he and aksuko have oscillated between third and fourth. On Monday, Spartan led 697.86 to 686.12. As was the case with 16 and 12, aksuko’s roster is carried by Condor Adrienne and Guy Sasakamoose. The next highest-scoring player on his roster is over 50 points behind Sasakamoose. Though Spartan doesn’t have players as high-scoring as other of those two, half his roster is sitting at around 160 a piece. Group 4: @Victor (884.99) and @BladeMaiden (883.62) When I saw both of these users get assigned to the same group, I knew it’d be an insanely close race. Both Victor and Blade finished in the top 3 users last season, so the friendly competition was on. Surprisingly, the two reigning “medalists” are currently holding down third and fourth, respectively. They’ve been oscillating for the past couple weeks, and I’m excited to see who takes the cake in this one. And that’s a wrap for VHFL updates this week! Keep an eye out for a notification about updated standings in your group coming soon! (800+ words)
  10. you're also able to choose multiple from the current list! you're not limited to just one
  11. ill be honest idr what thesw tickets are for anymore and I'm too lazy to check
  12. VHL is really a source of so much joy right now. I'm so happy to hear that your girlfriend is clear. I can only imagine the amount of mental and emotional energy you all spent worrying about what would come. Congrats to both of you for sticking with it. Fantastic work on quitting smoking - having watched my parents struggle with this, I know that it takes so much will power and dedication to follow through. You should be really proud of yourself, keep it up pal
  13. All I ask is that folks try. That's all! I think that the first step to asking someone to accommodate a request is to explain why you're making that request - that's why I spent the time on questions I was expecting and answered them to the best of my ability. I 100% understand that making the switch, especially to pronouns that feel odd to use intentionally, can be difficult. Hell, I've misgendered myself a couple times and been like, "ok, no, wait a minute." I think this would be amazing. The default set of pronouns in this league that we use (unless you're @Esso2264 who simply doesn't use any pronouns to avoid being wrong) is he/him. Even for folks who use she/her, I think it'd be amazing to have a space to tell people how you want to be identified since it's not always clear elsewhere.
  14. I had a discussion with one of my (very old, cis, white, hetero male) professors a couple years ago who had very strong opinions on using partner instead of __friend. Explaining it to him, it made me realize that using partner is honestly a much better representation of the relationship you build than just ___friend. He also asked why we ~young folk~ don't use "companion," and I think that word is also really poetic and adorable
  15. I'm honestly so moved (and almost overwhelmed?!?!) by the positivity, support, and warmth you all have expressed. It means so much to me that, after all the worrying I did, this is the response I'm getting. I'm touched, I feel supported, and really, really proud of this league for preaching and practicing inclusivity.
