  1. 1) Malmo won their first-ever cup yesterday after defeating DC in Game 6. Who were you rooting for in the finals and what were your thoughts on the result? Honestly, I would have been cool with either DC or Malmo winning the series. I wasn't necessarily rooting for anyone, I was mostly just rooting against Moscow for the entirety of the playoffs. 2) Now that the offseason has started, there have been a bunch of trades. Do you think there will be more to come? I'm guessing they've probably slowed down by now. Similar to what Quik said, I think that most of the off-season trades probably happened in that short period, which means that there probably won't be too many more. 3) Speaking of trades, Chicago added Kyl Oferson and Lucas Brandt to the team recently. How do you feel about these acquisitions? I was admittedly pretty surprised to see us acquiring Brandt, but I think that he'll be a nice addition to the defensive core. It'll be nice if we can finally drop that inactive defensemen whose only updates for the months have been depreciation. Oferson, now the highest-TPE player on Chicago's team, is going to have an interesting season. I'm curious to see how he's going to play with our team-veteran forwards, who admittedly haven't had the best chemistry. Hopefully Oferson will be able to offset whatever was throwing that top line out of balance. 4) The Season 76 draft is coming up on Friday. We don't have a first round pick (thanks @JeffD), but if we did are there any prospects you'd want us to draft? There are some really solid players up for grabs in the first round this draft, but at this point, I'm not sure where our need would be. It'd be great to see some of our inactive slots be overtaken by folks who are active in the league, but for now, I think it'd be most wise to get a lower pick or trade it for next season. We've got our squad for S76 lined up and I have high hopes. 5) What are your thoughts on the next season? Do you think we can build on our playoff success? Considering the success we had without Oferson and Brandt, I think that we definitely have an opportunity to, at the very least, snag a playoff spot next season. Though we're still a younger team, we are finally pushing into the point where players like Socks, Mingle, Xin, and Camus aren't lil babies anymore. Socks had a killer season 75, and Syrek came out of nowhere. We definitely have the potential for an awesome season! 6) The world is still chaotic. What's something that you're looking forward to, or something you feel grateful for right now? I'm very thankful for my roommate. She's so good at having fun in such easy ways. There aren't many people who would be cool with a rug and extra chair in our bathroom, but it's our smoke spot, and I think she's cool for that.
  2. vhfl sign ups are closing on Saturday! don't forget to sign up!

  3. I don't know shit about graphics so don't read this unless you're my updater (in which case, hi) I dig the use of the character rather than selecting a different render. I like the matte vibe and the sporadic lil dots, those are nice. The only critique is that I don't know how I feel about the effect on his hair, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Nice work, 9/10
  4. "don't add any more roller coasters to the amusement park, it's already fun"
  5. VHFL signups are open! Be sure to read the full OP and vote in the poll when you sign up!

  6. Hello!! Welcome to the [almost] offseason, VHL! I'm looking to make some changes to the way we run VHFL in the coming seasons, so I'll be using this sign-up thread to gage interest and see whether those changes will be worthwhile! I haven't fleshed out all the details for these concepts yet, so if you have ideas for tweaking them, please include that in your response. If you don't really have an opinion on how we run VHFL, that's fine! You don't have to vote! First: Champions groups Individuals who either won a group or were at the top of user rankings in the previous season may have an opportunity to participate in a champions group. This would increase the degree of competition when drafting, open up opportunities for other users to take first in a group, and give massive bragging rights to whomever wins the Champions group. Rather than the same handful of users smashing everyone else each season, I think it could be interesting to see them go head-to-head. Second: House rules Any user may join a group with house rules. I don't know how many of these groups there would be since I'm not sure of how many people will be interested in participating, but likely no more than 3-5 at max. Essentially, each group has the opportunity to conduct a draft with altered rules. For example, drafting 6 defensemen, only VHLM players, or only rookies. The GM role in these groups would be even more important than usual, as you would be responsible for making sure that the groups is properly following the rules. This season: I'm requesting for a handful of people to serve as potential fillers; we won't need more than 5. When this thread closes, I'll do a last call for anyone interested in signing up. However, instead of going around to all the servers I'm in and begging people to join so that I have a number divisible by 6, folks who sign up as fillers would draft a second roster (not for TPE) to fill those spots. These are not the same as DQ rosters, which I will continue to manage. I'm hoping that filler rosters will cut down on the amount of people getting disqualified since I'm not pulling teeth for them to participate. Say that Blazzer signs up to be a filler. When I go to my random group generator, there will be two names for her: Blazzer and Blazzer (filler). The fillers will be spread out across the league, not all in one group. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To sign up for S76 VHFL, where the only change will be the inclusion of fillers as necessary, please simply reply to this thread. The group manager position is the same. Group Managers are responsible for ensuring that users are making valid picks within their allotted time limit. Group Managers receive 1 additional TPE at the end of the season. If you are interested in being a Group Manager, please be sure to include that in your response. This thread will lock Sunday, January 17 at noon EST.
  7. yeah, that was my fault. i completely forgot about it until last night another amazing article tcookie!! your articles are the ones i most look forward to from VSN, keep up the high quality work!
  8. man what a season for chicago!!!! it's incredible to see a team outperform so many expectations this season, and I'm glad my player has been part of it. cheers to DC, this was a great run
  9. i still can't believe chicago has made it this far!!! cheers to dc for a great series up to this point, looking forward to game 7 >:)
  10. I'm on my way back to school, so what better to do than dish out some questions for a press conference!!! I can't figure out how to center this on mobile, so you'll just have to cry about it if pc formatting is the hill you're dying on. As always: you can answer 3 questions for 1 TPE, 6 questions for 2 TPE 1. How'd you bring in the New Year? Anything exciting? 2. What's your favorite game at the moment? If you don't play games often, then what've you been filling your "you time" with? 3. What good thoughts will you be bringing to our team group-think session? 4. What attributes are you focusing on as we face off against DC in the conference finals? 5. Which opposing team member are you focused most on stopping? 6. Who do you think is going to come out on top in the EU conference, Moscow or Malmo?
  11. have i mentioned lately that this league stresses me out honestly so surprised to see chicago win the series against calgary - i don't think anybody saw that coming, but I'll take it pleasantly!! huge shoutout to Calgary for putting up a really tough fight im looking forward to our next matchup: all bets are off, and im pumped to see a chicago v dc throwdown!!!
  12. This is true, and points you bring up are great reasons to not do a champions group. I can't see anyone willingly being thrown into a group with other strategists that would put their TPE reward at risk. I suppose a champions group ultimately discourages people from doing their best in fear that they'll be screwed over the next season. I also think that some folks win groups out of pure luck. Some group winners were at the bottom or not even in the top 50 rankings, which goes to show that randomization probably gives more people better opportunity of clutching first place because, inevitably, some groups will be higher-scoring and more competitive than others. Good food for thought.
  13. You guys are right about this, and I'm really sorry about it. In the future, I'll be sure to cut out words that I wouldn't say myself. Tolerance is not good allyship, and I regret not cutting them. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, I appreciate it!
  14. anyway, hi, i'm here for the TPE This graphic reminds me of bees which I think is both a huge pro and can also be considered my critique, so I'm going to leave it at that. I think the render cutout is clean, but I wouldn't know because I don't know the first thing about graphics. You can't really tell it says "mingle" but the font is dope and I like its rotation. Dope shit, 9/10
  15. i don't have time to tag 91 people
