  1. @Will and I are discussing how to deal with this.
  2. You aren’t wrong but neither is @Higgins. The point of having votes be in the BOG was to remove the bias that GM’s voting was creating. If BOG members are voting for bias reasons it doesn’t make it any better. Yes, he should not have been a prick; especially if he cares so much about awards. However the point of a trusted committee doing the voting is to get accurate votes for the players, not the members. If the BOG can’t do that we will need to be creating an award committee that can. In any case, the votes changed nothing but it is probably true those awards should have been sweeps.
  3. *Remember, if you won an award (individual) in either the VHL or VHLM, you are entitled to add 2 TPE for each award won. If you are a co-winner, add 1 TPE for that award. To claim, just link this page to your updates. Team awards do not apply for TPE. I also included everyone who was nominated this season for the sake of transparency; regardless of if they received votes or not. Congratulations to all the winners! VHLM Awards will come in their own thread soon.
  4. Shep is still the GM player, even if @Higgins didn’t re-sign him he’ll be auto-signed. Jacob is fair game.
  5. Toronto Locker Room is a good influence on people.
  6. GM’s are still allowed to have 2 players. While Louth was the GM player Quebec did have to “pay” to acquire him which wouldn’t be the case with GM players normally. Therefore we allowed @Beaviss to create a new player for his GM player and trade Louth. The slight discrepancy in time between the creation and the trade is just because he wanted to be in the VHLM draft.
  7. Seriously, can everyone just leave his thread be? There’s no reason for any of this. Its like people aim for threads they know we can’t lock. I don’t want to read any more baiting, or arguing, or conspiracy theories, or bias this or bias that. Just bloody vote and move on.
  8. Creamed corn and dentures of course.
  9. It’s been a tricky year to nail it down. Tomorrow is seemingly potential. Would be a very big day for sure with the awards also schedule to be coming out.
  10. Unofficially I would love to deem it that.
  11. Having legitimate complaints doesn’t give someone the right to voice them in a completely inappropriate manner. We’ve been trying to get this across to him for months and so far it hasn’t stuck. He isn’t voicing his concern as “public votes inherently add bias to the process so I feel as if a less deserving candidate might win.” Rather he’s telling anyone and everyone that has a difference of opinion that their opinion is wrong and they are an idiot for having it. It completely devalues any bias argument because it makes it out that any non-cornerstone vote is an idiot or bias. That’s even ignoring the fact that everyone else’s apparent bias is an issue but his bias is not? Public polls, by nature, have differences of opinion. Have some people shown they are voting for bias reasons? Yes but it can’t be helped if we don’t want to change the way the Slobo has always been run. At the end of the day @Will is right that any bias that has always been in the vote makes no difference in the end and it never has. Short of getting everyone’s reason for voting and then judging the validity of it, there is no true way to nail down bias votes entirely. It’s simply part of the process with how the slobo vote goes and always has been. If we want to change how this award is ha does that’s fine but that’s not how the argument has been shaped.
  12. To be fair it keeps hiding lately. Somehow when a forum gets accidentally moved somewhere else it always seems to be this one. I only put it back in probably last week from it’s last game of hide and seek. Just an FYI as well, some of the guys you mentioned (STZ, MWHazard, etc) are actually S60 Guys. They came in at pre-season so they weren’t drafted in the VHLM. Puts them in both drafts of the off-season. I think Street was the first S61 guy created.
  13. Just a note as well, I did move this to the radio section.
  14. A nice roundup of the changes. Good to see an older face on board with most of them, at least in most regards. Opened his expecting the old VHLer grumbling of “things changed and I’m mad about it.”
  15. Reminding myself to list to this later.
  16. You come back from a ban and make this your first post? Really? Don’t try to re-ignite this please.
  17. Just a note, predictions for next season were scheduled to open today but the portal is not set up to handle 2 seasons of them at the same time right now. So that has been moved to Saturday after the old predictions are done. If we need a little extra into the season for people to get them done we’ll account for that.
  18. Who’s Denise? Did we get a new member? Does meg know she’s been replaced as the VHL’s token female?
  19. Not to sound harsh but the guy we advertised with is a solid amount larger than the pajodcast. Not that I dislike them, they just don’t quite have the viewerbase.
  20. We’re definitely looking to update these right now. Will likely end up being similar to the HoF updating where we’ll pay some uncapped for some updating.
  21. #VHLWedding
  22. Bumping this in light of recent events. A reminder to everyone that it will not be tolerated and it does not matter who starts an argument. If you get into it with other members and things start crossing the line you will both be punished. Not to sound like your grumpy dad but I don’t care who started it, I will finish it.
  23. That’ll work. Just needed to pass on our mistakes to make sure others don’t make them haha
  24. Take it from my experience: unless it’s a very small wedding is she can prep far in advance, she will DEFINITELY regret doing her own food. My wife did our cake (just one small tier to cut) and cupcakes and absolutely hated every second of it. A day or two before your wedding there’s so much shit going on that trying to focus on making good food doesn’t end in anything but piles of stress.
  25. My wife and I looked at a place in Riverview that offered weddings as well as coprporate events. They offered the exact same things for both (space, 5 hours, tables, cleanup, decorations, etc). Corporate event was $500, wedding was $2500. The market as soon as you slap “wedding” on something is mind-boggling. If you keep it small it’s very possible to not spend a shit ton of money though. We did our entire wedding for around $3500 total. $2200 of that was food and photographer. Which leads me to my 1 main piece of advice @diamond_ace. Don’t cheap out on the photos. So many people now just get their guests to take photos or whatever; don’t. They’ll look like hot garbage and the photos are the one thing you have left after spending all that money. Don’t cheap out on the one thing you get to keep. Food gets eaten, flowers die, decorations get taken back or sold or whatever. Good photographers book early and are expensive but they are worth it.
