Alright peeps, it's time

Once in a blue moon

That would make me a leafs fan, so no. Also a couple of things I forgot to mention. I do know that some of these picks that were traded weren't originally owned by the teams that actually traded them. I chose to not cover where those picks came from because it would require me to go off-track from the specific trade I'm making a tree about. I'd probably make another trade tree if anyone wants me to cover one, whether it be VHL or VHLM tho. Would be fun to see
-
So hey! Welcome to Trade Trees. I'm Steve Dan- I mean Jiggs and lemme ask you something. Have you actually seen a trade tree article in the VHL? Not really? Well lookie here, I got a trade tree for ya! Vegas since @Spartan's tenure (possibly even before), has had a reputation of trading draft picks. Heck I get physically abused for fun by being bludgeoned on the head for trading draft picks. So what happens when the previous, and current GM is trigger happy with trading picks? We got ourselves a trade tree. So in order to make a 500+ word .com article for a mere 2 TPE, let's dive into this trade tree which involves the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Storm. HOLY SMOKES IS THAT TRADE ONE SIDED. So a bit of backstory. During the early days of S76 heading into mid-season. LVA was not doing so hot. Yes we were within range to sneak into the 4th seed in our conference, but we were in no position to make a deep run. So Spartan and I thought that it would be a good idea to fully commit to the rebuild. As I remember being told, the market was basically nonexistent at the time. So it was quite difficult to actually sell players. However, as you can see. A trade was still made. On February 6th 2021, the Las Vegas Aces trade winger Andy Nexber (@Domino Draws) for winger Sean Ramirez (@Kyle01), a S77 Minnesota 3rd round pick, a S77 Minnesota 5th rounder, and a S77 Minnesota 6th. Nexber was a top contributor in Vegas. Producing 39 points in 34 games. He scored 19 goals during that time. So I bet that now you're thinking "If he was so good, why was the return so low?" As I said before, the market was nonexistent. Most GMs at the time weren't too willing to buy players. So we had to make due with the value we had. Nexber in Minnesota notched 31 points in 38 games. Not really in the same pace as he did in Vegas, but his true value came in the post season. In 8 playoff games, he got 7 points! 4 goals and 3 assists. He was a top performer. However in the end, Minnesota would be eliminated and after that, Nexber moved on with Riga in the big leagues. Now that was over with, what about the LVA side of things? Well Ramirez wasn't much for Vegas. In 38 games he amassed only 8 points as a bottom 6 forward. He did double his point totals that season with Vegas compared to Minnesota, but once again he wasn't much. He was also a waiver player. So by the rules of the VHLM, he was released and was actually reacquired by Minnesota 44th overall in the VHLM draft. Currently in this season in 7 games, he has 2 points and is a -2. So Vegas as of now didn't really lose much there. So what about the draft picks? To get things out of the way, the 5th and 6th rounder were both used by Vegas to draft Yonistov Zazilov (@Joey Smitherson) 59th overall and omarius bryant jr (@Omariusbryant123434) 71st overall. Zazilov, another right winger is still with the team, although he does not have any points this season as of late and is a -5. He's also really close to inactivity. Which is not that good. omarius bryant jr was dropped before he could even play a game due to inactivity. So what about the 3rd round pick? Well as the reigns of GM was passed from Spartan to me, I decided that the pick could be used to move up in the draft. We had another 3rd rounder and a 4th rounder in the draft to begin with, so it wasn't actually that bad of a move to use these extra picks to move up in the draft. With that in mind, during the S77 VHLM Dispersal Draft on March 15 2021, LVA trades a PHI 2nd rounder (17th overall), MIN's 3rd rounder which was previously acquired in the Nexber trade (35th overall), and a LVA 4th rounder (43rd overall) to the Halifax 21st for Mexico's 1st (10th overall) and HFX's 6th (63rd overall). So with the 17th overall pick, Halifax selected Baldur Poulsen (@GlowyGoat). A left winger who is also Halifax's AGM. So far Poulsen has been doing great. With 8 points in 7 games this season and is on pace to break current personal records. With Minnesota's pick, Halifax selected Brock Hampton (@SamTwoSix). A first-gen center who in my opinion is a pretty good steal with his early max earning. No points so far, but this kid is someone to definitely watch in the future. Finally with the 43rd overall pick, Halifax selected defenseman Donne Taliferro (@Wally). A current 166 TPE clicker with just 3 points in 7 games. Not too bad. So far Halifax's haul is looking pretty good. So what about Vegas? What did I get in return? Well at 10th overall, Vegas selected defenseman Sven Reikkinen (@Devise). A defenseman with a high offensive build. So far he's played excellent. With 5 goals, 5 assists and 10 points in 8 games and with a164 TPE and a max earning rate, Devise looks to be a pretty good add. However the -9 is concerning. The Halifax 6th rounder on the other hand was used to select Egor Minuski (@ttman) 63rd overall. So far he's only updated with practice and welfare, and has only 2 points on the season. Though as a 6th rounder in a rather weak draft class. I think this pick was actually pretty good. I have some expectations for him in the future and I sincerely hope he pans out. So who won this trade? Minnesota in the end, didn't win the cup and lost Nexber after 38 regular season, and 8 post season games. Las Vegas was left with Devise, who's not too shabby, and a couple of questionable players. Halifax on the other hand, was left with their AGM, a really good first-gen, and a clicker. So what does this say about who won? Well for me, it hasn't been decided yet. To me whoever wins this trade will find out in the postseason. The trade is still recent and there are still factors to be played. Key point being whether or not Devise stays for another season, which I doubt. Though if I have to chose now, I'd probably say @Rayzor_7 won this trade just cause I don't want @rory winning anything. Anyways that's the trade tree, I hope you guys enjoy, leave a comment on the comment box below, tell all your friends, that this is end is a bit of a fucking rip-off.

Can we have a constructive conversation about the BoG?
JigglyGumballs replied to fishy's topic in Archived Media Spots
As a first-gen user, the BoG has always, and still is, an enigma to me. I'm aware of its existence and what its purpose is for the league, yet I find myself actually wondering what they do from time to time. I know that important discussions are talked about behind closed doors, but the problem with me is what they're talking about. Even with ADV's updates, I still don't get a true gist of what's going on. Maybe I'm just stupid, or have become completely oblivious to what's happening around the league. However, the point I wanna make is just a better discussion between the BoG and the members of this league. I want to know what going on, what's being discussed, and I want to see if I, as a regular everyday user, can have even a tiny bit of input to be made into consideration. Now before someone bashes me for something, I wanna first explain what I want. Like fishy, I honestly want an open conversation between the BoG and members. I don't want certain decisions to be entirely up to the users, as that will definitely cause a spark which will undoubtfully end up in a ball of alcohol fueled flames, but I want people to be able to make a suggestion. Part of that requires us to actually know what's going on, and what's currently being discussed about. And what I mean by suggestion is literally a suggestion. A small input from the members who help keep this community active. Maybe a thread where people can voice their opinions but not fully influence the decision. A place where the BoG can give us transparency on what's going on and at the same time have a scenario where one goes "Oh damn, they have a good point, maybe we might take that into consideration." The thing I'm trying to get here is that ultimately the BoG makes the final decision on matters. But for the love of god, please fill us in on what's going on, and if you can, please let us voice an opinion on the matter. I guarantee that someone will probably piss themselves off once or twice as voicing an opinion will always have some form of disagreement. However, letting people have a small say in the big picture might help in building trust in both the members and BoG. -
VHL GM Increased Activity Proposal
JigglyGumballs replied to DMaximus's topic in Archived Media Spots
A few seasons ago, I started this series of articles about the progress of players. One at the start of the season, one by the end. After a while. I stopped doing the series of articles entirely. It was super formulaic, and over time doing the same thing over and over again just wasn't motivating enough. I don't mind a GM making occasional articles about their team every now and then. The problem is making it a requirement as a part of their job. I get the need to promote forum activity and engaging the team, but again, I don't think hyping up your team via a media spot length article as a part of the job is a viable option for me. -
First of all I wanna thank everyone who voted for this season's captains. Glad to see people take part with the team. Everyone here in Vegas, even those who may not be as active as others, are still quality choices as captains. However, as the captaincy vote close, the players have chosen... Without further delay, here are your S77 Aces Captains!! C - @Wolverine Coming back in his second season as captain, we have Wolverine! He has been a mainstay at Vegas, serving as AGM of the team before mine and Spartan's tenures and has always supported Vegas since. So it's no surprise that this long time Ace comes back as this season's captain. Congrats! A - @Devise No onto our first assistant captain, we have none other than Devise. This newcomer to the team will not only provide some defensive stability along the back end, but can hopefully provide much needed offense 5 on 5 and on the powerplay. Unfortunately Dev isn't doing the VHLM sims so he can't rig it for us, but hey! Congratulations on the A. A - @DreMin15 Last but not least, we have DreMin15! Another familiar face to recent Vegas alumni, DreMin was a force to be reckoned with from Houston as he became Vegas's goalie with his first player Drew Minott. Now returning as the defenseman, Jannik Nylen, DreMin looks to be a key depth role for us this season, and an ever greater role in future seasons. Congrats!!

1. 8 or so. I'm pretty excited but I also don't want to get my hopes too high 2. Probably defense. I like how my player developed into a very solid defensive option last season, and hopefully things improve a bit coming this season. 3. Probably goal scoring or penalties. I lack goal scoring with my passing build and with my high checking, I'm prone to be a frequent penalty box visitor. Might just start living there tbh. 4. More than it did last year. 5. When refs don't call blatant penalties. Really jiggles my gumballs. 6. Hmmm. I'd say Roque Davis, and it'll be close to 90 or so.

Yo I know a thing or two about career VHLM players

Is it coincidental the people who both had 7s at the end of their names got traded on the first day of S77??

Now here's a question:
Vtubers or Vocaloids?- Show previous comments 2 more

Neither Virtual Idol (see you get best of both as the Hololive group don't class themselves as vtubers

For the sake of 2 TPE, I shall express my thoughts and maybe go on a couple of tangents/rambles. So I'll be honest, I don't think I did too well in this draft. Of course I am confident that I landed on a few picks, but otherwise I am not confident in the picks I made especially in the late rounds. I think I'm just being hard on myself but making a meme pick 69th overall is the only thing that I have going for me. If I were anyone else looking at my draft, I'd question the GMs picks, and more so the trades I made. Though I guess I'll trust the process and see through with the choices I made. Last season was honestly crazy. Well the sims themselves (apart from an all expansion team finals) was meh, but the amount of changes in both management and how the league is run is just wack. I personally don't mind all the AGM changes as there's guaranteed to be multiple in a season. The lifespan of an AGM is pretty short, especially for the VHLM, but holy shit the amount of GM changes in both the VHL and VHLM. It's like everything just clicked and somehow the old was now being ousted for the new. I'm not sure how I feel about it, sure I ended up getting hired as a GM in the process but like, it's weird. Beaviss leaving as both commish and Vancouver's GM is also quite a shock. I didn't officially say this, but Beav has contributed so much to the league and it's honestly a bit sad to see him step down. Though I do understand why. Something that ticks me off a lot are those who despite all the pings and DMs, they still ignore you. This is more of a management sort of problem but, I'm sure others can relate one way or another. When you've freshly drafted a player or acquired a first-gen through waivers, I try to PM them on the forums to try to get them onto the LR and or talk to me. Sometimes they'd just not respond or not even read the message. Of course I wouldn't be too shocked about that most of the time. Especially when the person you drafted is barely active. I'd likely try one or two more times to start a conversation, but if they refuse to reply, it really hits the fan for me. It gets frustrating because you don't know if they actually care, or if they just don't know what to do or something. It hurts even more if they leave you on read because you know that they've seen your message and yet they've chosen to not even reply. I'll admit that I've been guilty of leaving people on read before, so I'm not entitled to a response, but my job as a VHLM GM is to help new players. So how can I help them when they refuse to reply? In the end it's likely going to end in me dropping players when they're within the realm of inactivity in terms of rules. So that honestly sucks. (531 words)
