    1. It’s been great, if a little expected. Our team is a great bunch of players. We has this coming

    2. Amazingly(not), all three podium teams were teams I was cheering for. I thought the tourney as a whole was cool

    3. Halifax. And we need lots of luck to beat them, because they are downright scary

    4. Usually some of us go to a restaurant, and usually avoid bars, because of the whole non-alcohol thing a couple of guys and me have. Also, getting to bed early is a must, since we have games every day.

5, Dog, no question. I have a golden retriever and he’s a blessing

    6. For personal reasons, I won’t share too much. Although I’ll have to agree with @Crstats23, there is something about @NickSunderbruch that doesn’t scream wholesome.....

    Rara Rasputin Junior Review

Rara Rasputin, Russia's Greatest Love Machine. Quite a title for an unknown 30-year-old goaltender just entering his first professional season in the VHLM. Yes, that's right, Rasputin turned professional the moment he signed for the Miami Marauders a few weeks ago. What's more, he also became a hockey player in general at the same time.

So what has this wonderfully named player been doing up until now? Well he was a professional dancer, but this didn't really work out as he is also ridiculously tall. Then he got obsessed with weight lifting and began entering those “World's Strongest Man” contests and even changed his name so it would be something more memorable. It's not all noise of course, multiple sources tell me he is in fact Russia's greatest love machine. A fine specimen Rasputin is.

Nonetheless, that all begs the question – what is he doing in the VHLM now? How does a dancing weight lifter with no hockey experience became the chosen successor (presumably) to Moscow Menace's franchise goaltender Raymond Bernard? The answer lies in two factors that really have nothing to do with Rasputin – the coronavirus outbreak of 2020 and one bored GM/player agent. Firstly, the COVID pandemic this year and subsequent lockdowns in many countries including Rasputin's home town of Moscow made lots of the entertainment industry unviable, including all of Rasputin's jobs. Secondly, Moscow GM Victor Alfredsson was on the hunt for the franchise's next starting goaltender and had previously had great success as the agent of Greg Clegane. Clegane, for those too young to remember, was an absolute mammoth of a man who also came into the VHL in his 30s. As such, despite it going against the grain for goaltending prospects, Alfredsson set out to find local talents who would fit his template.

At the time of the search, Rasputin was ready to grab any job opportunity which would come his way and was intrigued by the ad put out by Moscow's recruitment team. We are told that in the try-outs behind closed doors, Rasputin did not stand out in too many traditional goaltending attributes. However, he did tick the boxes of size and based on his past, agility, and that was enough to earn the trust of GM Alfredsson. Was it a gamble that looks to pay off? Recapping Rasputin's time in Miami will be interesting but we've seen a mixed bag of results so far. Time will tell whether Bernard's chosen successor lives up to the billing.

Ledge reacted to Victor in Moscow clinches franchise's second Victory Cup
With 2 wins on Sunday, the Moscow Menace have clinched the 2nd Victory Cup as VHL regular season champions in franchise history, since then earning their 100th point of the season. With 4 games to go, the Menace have the chance to eclipse their S70 record of 50 wins and 105 points (with 49 and 100, respectively, at present).

"I stood in this very room 10 seasons ago and said that I hoped that if I made it to 10 seasons as GM of this franchise, it would be with at least one Continental Cup to our name," GM Victor Alfredsson said in his post-game press conference. "The boys delivered that championship in our 6th season and the fact we are now the playoff favourites again is truly unimaginable. I think this season is another credit to everyone working in this fantastic organisation."

"Before the real slog begins, I thought I'd extend my thanks to the core players who have contributed to a wonderful S74. I don't know if we're as good as we were in S70, but I know this is just the beginning of the journey and also that we should celebrate now before the real business begins.

"Nate Telker @Telkster, Oskar Lagesson @fever95, Raymond Bernard @Mr_Hatter - as we celebrated our first championship I said this was just the beginning for you. There was a rough patch afterwards but you stuck through with it, believed in the team cause and are now true leaders of the Moscow Menace and will go down as team legends.

"The class of S72 - @VinCal @Spartan @Da Trifecta @GrittyIsKing09 @okifenoki @twists ? - you've been great. It is no exaggeration to say your enthusiasm since joining Moscow has kept me in the job, both based on results and also mentally. I thought my race was run in S71 but this injection of youth has been superb and who knows what heights we can still reach. And yes I know Vin Calia is a S71 draftee but you joined in S72 so you're part of the club.

"And finally Mikko. @Beketov That little bit of stardust to elevate a young and promising squad and turn us into genuine cup contenders. I look forward to seeing where the rest of our journey takes us."

Western Conference Focus: Las Vegas Aces

Carrying on with my series of Media Spots writing about the teams that make up the Western Conference of the VHLM, the team I'm going to be focusing on today is the team that holds the top spot; the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces are a team that I'm personally very familiar due to spending my rookie season in the VHLM with them, and it seems like in the season since then they've really been able to put all the pieces together to make them a legitimate contender. Let's look into what it is that's allowed them to step up in the way that they have this season.

The Aces have been able to put up a 45-13-6 record through the 64 games that they've played so far this season. This is good for third in the entire VHLM, and it certainly speaks to the level of play that the current roster has been able to maintain through the length of the season. Out of all the players, the one who most obviously stands out on the scoresheet is forward Gary Rush. Tallying a highly impressive 112 points on the season, he's been the focal point of Las Vegas's offense, and a pivotal reason for their success in the season so far. He's been ably assisted by a strong supporting cast too, with second year forwards Chris Reynolds and Rhynex Entertainment both crossing the 100 point threshold too, with 107 and 103 respectively. All three players on a line having over 100 points with a few games left to go certainly speaks to the offensive potency of them as a unit, and their success is undoubtedly a major factor in the strong performance that their team has put together so far this year.

There's also been some good support from the blueline in the form of returning player Kasper Kankkunen. Able to drive offense from his own zone to a high level, Kankkunen has been a sparkplug on defense for the Aces who has really been able to put up the kind of points that have helped his team be as competitive as they have been. Add into the mix a strong performance on the season from starting goaltender Drew Minott, and you're left with a team that has a serious claim at being a legitimate contender for the cup this season.

While it might not be easy for the Aces to go up against some of the powerhouse teams we've seen in the Eastern conference this season, they will certainly go into this season's playoffs believing themselves to be a team that is a real threat for anyone else. With the season slowly running out of games, it's going to be interesting to see how much momentum the team can build up in the final week of the season. Regardless of what happens, it's been great to see my former team have such a successful season this time around, and I really do wish them all the best going into the playoffs this season. They're a great group who really deserves their success.

Going into his eighth season Funk has announced he will retire from the crease at the end of the season.
"I've had an amazing time throughout my career. Spending 7 seasons in Seattle, being captain, winning 4 cups and 4 Kanous. It's hard to not be happy with how my career played out. I plan to finish out the season with Davos and hope to bring them some hardware. With that said though, I'd like to thank my former GM @Banackockfor his leadership and management of Seattle during my time there. It was a blast and his leadership led us to those cups. I'd also like to shout out @DoktorFunk @Berocka for their time playing alongside with me. Their attitude and their effort made me keep mine up and lead to a great time during my Seattle stay."
With the season winding down Davos is fighting for a playoff spot, time will tell if we get to see one more glimpse of that Playoff Funk Magic.

8/10 I like the way you space your paragraphs, I'm kind of a sucker for proper writing. I also really think that you would benefit from the uses of images to break it up a little bit, make it easier for people to read. Either way, I think the idea of an expansion team is great, but the problems outweigh the benefits at the moment, maybe if we launch another campaign and get another influx of members we could afford one. Like if we got another 15-20 recruits on top of the ones in this influx we could probably survive internally with an expansion team without the need to worry about the influx ending.

The first 10/10 I've ever given an article. it has it all, the different colors and fonts, the paragraph spacing. It's just an excellent article, if I were to change literally anything it would be to add the vegas aces logo next to all the names, but honestly thats just asking for too much. For a 3000 word article most people would've gotten super lazy toward the end, but you were consistent all the way through. Also love my part in particular, I def think I've been overlooked this season, but I know you and the boys absolutely haven't overlooked me.
    Again, 10/10

Ledge reacted to JigglyGumballs in LVA Progress Report: Current Report
So a while back when only 12 games of the season was played, I did a progress report of the Las Vegas Aces to that I planned to visit back some time near the end to see what's improved with our current roster players. It isn't a progress report without any progress after all. Anyways this will probably be the last time I do this shit this season because this takes a while to make. One of the few changes I have this time around will have a little bit of text showing how much TPE the players have earned since last report along with the newly updated stats. Here's the old progress report if you wanna check it out but let's get on with mentioning the entirety of the Las Vegas Aces roster at like 2-3 in the morning. Oh and @Spartan too of course ?.

    RW - Gary Rush, Current TPE: 304 (+30) @G_Rush
    64GP: 55G, 57A, 112P, +75

So that +30 means that he's earned 30 TPE since the last report. Though since he's capped out, he can't really place those TPE into anything. That doesn't matter though since he's having an unbelievable season in LVA. A 50 goal scorer on pace to score more than 60.  He's tied for 2nd league wide in points. It's a safe bet that this guy is currently Vegas's number one guy. Great offensive production and really good consistent earning. I would say that I may be a little bit off when I said that he's going to be in the 370 TPE range by the start of next season. It's more likely he'll be in the 350-360 range instead but still great consistent earning from him. I am trying to keep these a lot more shorter since I have a bit more players to cover since the last one, but again, I can see this guy ending the season with 125 points with at least 60 of them being goals.

    C - Rhynex Entertainment, Current TPE: 298 (+48) @Rhynex Entertainment
    64GP: 38G, 65A, 103P, +79

The next 100 point man to take the spotlight is none other than the center of Vegas' Triple R Threat line is Rhynex Entertainment. This guy has been doing amazing. Though nearly getting 40 goals is no easy feat, what's more amazing is his ability to dish out pucks left and right. His 65 assists can attest to that. With 8 powerplay goals as well, he's a good contributor on special teams. This Vegas line is simply lethal considering that Rhynex is 6th league wide in terms of points. Just above him is his own linemate, Chris Reynolds. The guy has been an excellent earner as well. Consistently earning that 14 TPE each week. Surprisingly enough, he's been more of a goal scorer in this season's World Junior Championship with Canada. With that all in mind, all I can say is keep up the good work! Did I forget to mention that he leads the league in assists?

    D - Kasper Kankkunen, Current TPE: 341 (+54) @ZP16
    64GP: 21G, 46A, 67P, +77

Kankkunnen being at an over a point per game pace is a really good sign. Just cause you aren't 20 points over a point per game doesn't mean you are bad. This is still really good production points wise from a defenseman. That +77 isn't just cause of the forwards he's playing with getting all the goals. He has a respectable 94 hits and 59 shots blocked. It's a good bet to say that Kankkunen is more of a offensive defenseman based off his production and his build. So far he's doing great. Plus he has his teammates to count on when he isn't scoring himself. Earning a whopping 50+ TPE since the last report, this guy has been consistently max earning and he's growing at a fast rate. London is sure to enjoy this sort of growth by the time he reaches the VHL.

    LW - Chris Reynolds, Current TPE: 259 (+37) @Crstats23
    64GP: 44G, 63A, 107P, +80

To finish off the Triple R Threat line is none other than Chris Reynolds who's having an outstanding season. He's already capped and has been breaking his past season records. 5th league wide in points, 2nd league wide in assists, 6th league wide in goals, and the leader league wide in terms of +/-. This guy along with his linemates has been nothing but dynamic in terms of offense. The captain has been a great consistent earner as well, earning about 12 TPE every week. At this rate he should be at around the 300 TPE range by the start of next season with a dangerous and young Warsaw team.

    G - Drew Minott, Current TPE: 250 (+38) @DreMin15
    61GP: 42W, 12L, 6OTL, 0.884SV%, 2.41GAA

Yes I spelled his name right. Minner has just recently capped so it's a really good sign to see. One might think that a save percentage under .900% and a GAA over 2.00 would not look good, but considering how easy it is for a game to blow out in the VHLM, these are actually pretty good stats. 1263 shots against with 147 goals against, Minner is looking like what he was in the previous season in Houston. Though with more improvement. Hopefully this time, he can overcome his playoff demons. Earning wise, he's recently earned 12 TPE these past couple of weeks. A bit more from the 8 TPE I see him earn normally. If he's consistent in that, then he'll likely reach 300 TPE or so come the start of the season as well. Providing LA a pretty good young tandem along with Doug Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome.

    LW - Nicholas Sunderbruch, Current TPE: 232 (+44) @NickSunderbruch
    64GP: 32G, 33A, 65P, +32

Jolly ol' Saint Nick. His production has been a bit off as of recent but I blame that on STHS. He's been slightly over a point per game in terms of production and being a second line winger, this is pretty good. I'm saying this now, if you're basing how good he is based on his stats, then you are a bit mistaken. Remember, he's a 230 TPE guy playing on the second line. His ice time is a bit more limited compared to others. Yet he's at an over a point per game pace? He will be an underrated piece as he moves onto the VHL by next season. The guy is very consistent in earning, maxing out the weekly 12 TPE cap each time as of late. This guy is growing fast and will be a great addition to Toronto going forward into the future. Nick has also maintained this pace all season which is something to add into consideration.

    D - Joakim Lund, Current TPE: 182 (+18) @Bouncyelf
    64GP: 8G, 21A, 29P, +35

Lund doesn't wow you with points. It's his checking and shot blocking that is good about him. He's a solid shutdown, stay at home defender that can lay the body on you when you're not looking. 166 hits and 53 shots blocked. He's also already got more points than he had last season which is also good to see. As I said previously, his point production is only a bonus. His true value is his shutdown ability. TPE wise, he's been consistently earning welfare and practice facility. It isn't much but it is consistent. That I do like to see. I think this may be his last season where his team holds his rights if I'm not mistaken. Maybe next season? But either way, he should be by the 200 TPE range soon enough.

    D - Matt Thunder, Current TPE: 182 (+22) @Matt thunder
    64GP: 11G, 35A, 46P, +41

The recently appointed top pairing defender, Matt Thunder replaces the now inactive Roseann Petal and is now the defensive partner to Kankkunen. If Kankkunen is the offensive defenseman, then this guy is the more defensive defenseman. 46 points is still pretty good, but again he brings a more two-way/defensive aspect to the pairing as he has 68 hits and 57 shots blocked. I would say that he should prioritize either passing or scoring depending on what he prefers in terms of applying TPE since his passing and scoring are pretty close together and that's a bit of a no no. Otherwise, the Rolling Thunder keeps on rolling. I don't see any problems with him and I think he's doing pretty good.  His earning, as you guessed, is really consistent as well.

    D - Chase Crosby, Current TPE: 167 (+30) @Wreckening
    64GP: 7G, 25A, 32P, -1

Crosby finishes up the top 4 here with a good 32 points on the season. Not too bad. 25 assists is something I do like to see. His scoring pace has slowed down a slight bit but again, it isn't a true concern when you got teammates who can cover the scoring for you. What does concern me is his 70 penalty minutes and -1 rating. He's really great defensively with 80 hits and 72 shots blocked, but that -1 is slightly concerning. The penalty minutes is something you can't really do much. I'd rather not advise someone to put TPE into discipline. Anyways, his TPE earning is very consistent as well as he's earning about 10 TPE every week. No slow in production at all. Heck he's actually increased in production as of late.

    LW - Angel Wachiure, Current TPE: 158 (+15) @inflastud
    64GP: 25G, 33G, 58P, +33

Wachiure didn't grow as much TPE wise compared to other players, that's because his last update before this week was week ending September 27th. I personally had thought he had been quietly earning, but apparently that wasn't the case until of recent. Good news is that he's updating again. Points wise, he's doing pretty good actually with his limited ice time. He has lost his over a point per game pace but it isn't a worry at all. 58 points is still pretty solid in my books. Hopefully his earning can be a little more consistent, but otherwise, still pretty good. I do know that not everyone has the time do earn TPE, but as long as it's consistent, it's fine with me.

    C - Its Gucci, Current TPE: 166 (+39) @frescoelmo
    64GP: 6G, 36A, 42P, +36

Its Gucci, hasn't been too Gucci points wise. As a second line center, I do kinda wish he had a bit more in terms of points but we can't be too greedy here eh? There shouldn't be any problem build wise, so it's probably just a thing with the sims and STHS. The +36 is good to see, along with the 97 hits. It's likely that he'll be back next season so that season should probably be his breakout into his true Gucci form. He's been really consistent in his TPE earning so I have no worries there at all. Again, it's probably STHS or his minutes fucking him over but i expect him to breakout soon enough.

    RW - Artair McCloud, Current TPE: 128 (+46) @Hoopydog
    64GP: 6G, 4A, 10P, -4

McCloud has been doing really well in terms of TPE earning. The guy consistently earns 12 each week and is had a consitent and quick growth. He's looking more and more of a draft steal each week. Stats wise, he's pretty bad. I do suggest not putting passing and scoring so close together in terms of TPE and defense really needs work as that's the single most important stat to increase whether or not you're a forward or defenseman. With 46 hits and 96 shots, it's good that he's at least trying. With his limited ice time, I can see the difficulty in getting enough ice time to contribute more to the scoreboard. All in all, McCloud has not disappointed me at all and he's definitely a big part of the future.

    RW - Kelly Power, Current TPE: 124 (+41) @Nordin
    64GP: 4G, 1A, 5P, -8

Again, as I sound like more of a broken record, I am very happy with Power's earning as he's been very consistent and quick with his growth.  The fact that we're playing 120 TPE players in like the third line says something about this team and this season in general. His stats is not good at all, but with a lack of ice time, these guys are trying as best they can with what they have. I won't say anything further since his build is pretty good and as long as he's continuing to be consistent, then I'm good.

    RW - Connor Sim, Current TPE: 113 (+36) @SimmerDown99
    64GP: 3G, 6A, 9P, +5

I've basically covered the entire top 9 already and we're still dealing with 100+ TPE guys. Sim is the only plus player on the bottom 6 so far. His point production is also okay for what he has. His earning fluxuates a bit but other wise he does earn about 6-10 a week so I can't really complain much at all. A steady growth so far for someone who I thought wasn't going to be much when he was drafted. He's been exceeding the expectations I've had for him and I'm glad that he's earning and being active. Again, I wouldn't put passing and scoring so close to each other, a bit of improvement in terms of defense as well.

LW - Kaladin Kvothe, Current TPE: 128 @DangerGolding
    5GP: 0G, 0A, 0P, 0+/-

One of the latest additions to the Aces since he was a recent recreate, I think he's been pretty good so far, we're probably playing him in the third line and Sim in the 4th but hey, another 100+ TPE guy playing in the bottom 6. I can't say much about his earning (as well as how to pronounce his name) but I'm sure that it's going to be pretty consistent as his base TPE was over 100 after all.

    D - Linus Zetterstrom, Current TPE: 117 (+42) @Ledge_and_Dairy
    64GP: 2G, 18A, 20P, -3

Z has been pretty good on a limited 3rd pairing role. 20 points in 64 games. The -3 is something to be worked on but again, that's sim related. 30 shots blocked and 73 hits, pretty good on his own end. His earning and activity has been something I'm really happy about. Very quick and consistent in his growth and despite still not having discord, is very active in the forums. I really do enjoy the articles ledge makes. During last season's draft, I was really adamant about this first-gen when I was scouting him, and I kept thinking that this guy was going to be a Chris Reynolds type where we pick up this first gen in the later rounds and help them earn and be active. So far, all I'm seeing is that this kid is a steal and I'm glad that we were able to get him. Keep up the good work!

    D - Breeze Ladrian, Current TPE: 117 @Kelsier
    64GP: 7G, 22A, 29P, +3

So Ladrian came in via a trade deadline acquisition. So far his season has been good as a 3rd pairing D. Though he really should be at around 140 TPE or so if it wasn't for the fact that until this week, he hasn't updated since week ending September 20th. Good thing Spartan bullied him into earning eh? Anyways, as long as he keeps earning, he'll likely be a solid top 4 guy in the future. Nothing else to say otherwise.

    C - Nero Endrizzi, Current TPE: 113 (+44) @Jonessee27
    64GP: 1G, 5A, 6P, -9

As I said last time, I did like the two way game coming out of him, and I still kinda do. The -9 is a bit of a problem, but the 54 hits and 13 shots blocked is something to definitely take into consideration. Updating has been consistent, and here's another 100+ TPE guy playing in the bottom 6. I still love the name, but I honestly wish these guys could get a bit more ice time. However, with how full our team, and other teams are, there's nothing much we can do. VHLM expansion maybe???

    G - Trent Gibson, Current TPE: 100 (+30) @Caboose30
    5GP: 3W, 1L, 0 OTL, 0.902SV%, 1.33GAA

So y'know how I said that Gibby's stats were an ouchy? We fixed that problem! We simply just played him against Houston and bam, 2 shutouts. All he needed was a nice confidence boost! Anyways, now that his earning is more consistent and he's now at exactly 100 TPE, I can expect more for him in the future. He is exposed to the VHLM Dispersal Draft so he might not stay around. But hey, at least he's making the most out of it. I can't really weigh in on how to build a goalie since I don't really know much at all, so we'll see how that goes.

RW - Andy Nexber, Current TPE: 66 @Domino Draws
    64GP: 1G, 0A, 1P, +3

Okay I know for a fact that he didn't fully play 64 games this season. As someone who we thought was inactive, we didn't really give him ice time, but as the Vegas charm would prove, he suddenly became active again and now after a little mixup, he's in the lineup. He's consistently earned practice and welfare since coming back to activity. So far it's a slow but consistent growth. Nothing much to complain about.  Other than putting some more TPE to defense and less to penalty shots. We can definitely help you build your player if need be. Otherwise, it'll be really interesting to see how he grows in the future as I can definitely see him in the top 6 in a couple of seasons. I would suggest doing the press conferences each week as that's an easy 2 TPE as well.

So finally I'm done! That's the newly updated Vegas progress report. Any feedback is much appreciated, and I hope that I don't do this again in the near future.

@JigglyGumballs’s VHL.com article about throwing random crap together gave me an idea. I should do that too! Except I’m not as funny as Jiggs. Oh well.

My player, Linus Zetterstrom, is okay. 116 TPE after I claim for this. Not terrible, but not exactly a star. He’s  defensive defenceman, anyway. Those guys are never recognized as stars because they don’t put up points. For example, and I’m going to use some NHL crap here so brace yourself. Victor Hedman is the best D in the league. No argument. But they gave the best D award to Roman Josi, who gets a crap ton of points. Hedman was a finalist. The other finalist? John Carlson, bloody point machine. Defensive D don’t get enough credit, if you got the idea of that rant.

The WJC is coming up(or happening, idk) and no one cares except the GMs of the teams. It’s kind of sad, considering how many people love the real WJC. I for one am going to follow it, and cheer for three teams like the bandwagoner I am. Canada, because that’s where my XBOX and my dog are(where I live, if you didn’t get it), Europe because Z’s supposedly from Sweden, and World, because I guess I have to cheer for Jiggs because they’re my AGM. Whoopee. There’s a good chance one of my teams will win, based on the sheer amount of teams I’m cheering for.

The Aces, Z’s team in the M, are going to make the playoff unless there’s an apocalypse. That’s how how far ahead in first we are. My guess is that we’ll go to the finals but lose to Halifax because that team is not fair. It’s just not fair. But it’s not 100% yet, so fingers crossed.

Thank you for for listening to me pour my brains out. Credit to Jiggs for giving me the idea. See you next time, when I hopefully have an  actual idea for an article.

Ledge reacted to Berocka in VHL Random Draw!
So, everyone seems to be complaining that game threads no longer have any activity, so I have come up with a great idea to help get people engaged.

Introducing the random draw. This is how it works

When someone comments on their game thread, you get an entry into the random draw. You have a max of 14 entries in a week that is roughly 2 games a day. Every week someone grabs all the comments, I am sure there is a program that could do this I am just not smart enough. All the entries get added into the random draw. The winner of the random draw gets 2 TPE at the end of each week.

Now we just make it that you need to post at least 100 characters and that introduces an amount, so people don’t just spam GG.

I think that this new groundbreaking idea will solve all the issues regarding the lack of comments on game threads.

I would personally like to nominate @Joshto do this as I think his knowledge of the site will be a good fit for the job.

We could possibly have a separate random draw for both the VHL and the VHLM. Let me know what you think. I think this plan is flawless and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

I think that a change like this could really show that the VHL is looking forward on how to increase the engagement on the site.

    Thank you for listening!

    2. I think it makes more parity, which is great. Also great is the fact that most new guys are joining teams like the Bulls who had no talent very man to players.

    3. Kankkunen @ZP16is sort of a role model for me, he’s a great guy and a real good player

    4. I don’t think our team could get much better. Hopefully someone rips off Halifax

It is official. The Las Vegas Aces have passed the Saskatoon Wild to claim first place in the Western Conference. And rightfully so, according to a certain VHLM player. Linus Zetterstrom has believed in the Aces’ philosophy from the first day, and has improved as much as the team itself. Last night, a VHLM reporter caught up to Zetterstrom after the Aces’ win against the San Diego Marlins:

Reporter: Well, it’s certainly been a successful stretch for the Aces recently, as you guys are on a four game winning streak now. What in particular has driven the team?

Linus Zetterstrom: We have a really good team here. I knew we would eventually rise to top of the standings, our team is too good for that to not happen. We have a couple guys, like Gary Rush @G_Rush and Rhynex Entertainment @Rhynex Entertainment, who could step into the VHL and make an impact there. We have a lot of good players. I remember at the start of the year, when i was grumbling about out a bad loss, when Jiggs @JigglyGumballs came up to me and said, ‘all things must come to the average eventually in this league’, which they obviously meant that we would be in first eventually. So I’m not totally surprised

Reporter: Lots of people in this league have also noticed your development. You went from 54 TPE when you were drafted to 106 TPE now. What’s inspired you to work so hard?

LZ: I really love this league and I really love this team. Spartan @Spartanand Jiggs have been really welcoming and I feel at home in the locker room. I also have a lot of great teammates in @Crstats23, @NickSunderbruch, and @ZP16among others. I feel like we are really close and we have lots of chemistry together.

Reporter: It was announced not too long ago that you weren’t on Team Europe’s world juniors team. How do you feel about this?

LZ: I mean, it would have been great, yeah. But there are a lot of guys better than me who deserved a spot, so I’m not that disappointed. Besides, it gives me some time to train and work on my game. Right now, I need to focus on my play in the season. That’s the only thing that matters.

Reporter: The playoffs are edging ever closer, and the Aces are performing very well. How do you feel about the postseason, with all the added stress and pressure?

LZ: I don’t see why we should treat the playoffs any different than a regular season game. We are still playing against the same teams, and we should bring the same amount of effort and energy as we do during the season. We can’t let anything knock us off our game, we are doing really well and we are hoping we can keep it up down the stretch.

Reporter: the VHL has become more popular recently, creating an influx of new talent. What do you think of the new competition?

LZ: I think it’s great the league is gaining popularity, there are more opportunities now. Teams like the Bulls who previously had like four players total now have three or four lines to roll with, so there’s more parity, I would say. As for the competition part, I think as long as I keep up the hard work and help my team improve, I think it won’t really affect me. There are more positive signs than negatives, that’s for sure

    Reporter: Thanks, Linus. Happy Thanksgiving

    LZ: Thank you.

While at it, we also caught up with Zetterstrom’s agent, who goes by @Ledge_and_Dairy.

Reporter: Thanks for doing this, Ledge and Dairy. We just wanted to catch up and see how you and your client are doing

Ledge_and_Dairy: Yeah, it’s no problem. Reporters are always fun

Reporter: chuckles  Well, thanks. Not everyone thinks so. Anyway, how’s the season going? I know you’re a rookie agent, too.

LD: It’s been a great experience. Everyone in the Aces organization has made it real fun and i’m really glad I got into this with Linus.

Reporter: Have you ever considered taking on a role in the league? Like as a GM or an updater?

LD: Well, I know that Spartan and Jiggs have a good thing going there, with Spartan being an updater as well as a GM. I guess I’ve considered it, but I’m still a newbie in the league. I don’t exactly know my way around yet, so maybe in the future, if a job comes up, I might go for it.

Reporter: Thanks for doing this. And happy Thanksgiving!

LD: Thank you and you too
