This past week, Hugh Jass was selected to the VHL All Rookie Team. This season, he has his intentions set on continuing to earn such accolades. Jass had a solid rookie season, earning 31 points in 72 games. He also led the team in +/- with a plus 19. Plus/minus tends to be over looked, but for a rookie defenseman to lead his team in the category, it’s something to be quite proud of. Jass spent the off season working on rounding out his offensive game and intends on improving his numbers on the opponents end of the ice. “40 points, I think that’s the goal I’ll set”, Jass said this afternoon at the team’s training camp. Jass will still be on the second paring, playing behind Lance Flowers and MGS. This could make it tough to put up big numbers, as both Flowers and MGS are scoring defenders. Another stat Jass is looking to improve is his hit totals. A big part of a defender’s game is the ability to lay the body on the other team and shut down their opportunities. “Been hitting the gym hard. Strength conditioning has been big for me, I think it’ll help me on both ends of the ice”. Jass said.

1. Did you tune into the VHL Draft on Saturday? If so, what was the biggest highlight to you? didnt even know it was on lolN 2. We were able to draft 3 rookies on Saturday. What advice would you give them as a player who has been around the league for at least a season? Just keep grinding. Being a rookie can be tough but the reward is there for the taking! 3. What are your thoughts on the quality of @Esso2264's streams? He is the “Ninja” of VHL draft streams 4. Training Camp officially opens up today. What are you looking forward to working on the most while on ice for the first time this season? Gotta get those points up next year! Hopefully scoring 5. If you haven't already, sign up for the VHFL here! Which player would you definitely try to draft for your fantasy team? Had success with Ambrose Stark last year. Probably grab him again 6. Victor posted a poll asking which team would miss the playoffs in each conference. Who do you think they'll be and why? I think I picked DC and maybe Riga? Can’t remember who the EUR team was. DC I guess because they were close to us last year and we are making the playoffs so, we have to pass someone!

1. Who on the team would you want to host a summer barbecue and why? Me! Nothing better than a beautiful bbq on the east coast of Canada! 2. BBQ hamburgers man, nothing better! 4. At this summer barbecue, what's your go-to drink? Just a beer kind of guy. Mixture of my favourite beers from my go to craft beer spot. 5. What's one food item you absolutely hate seeing on the grill and why? Not much that I won’t eat off of the bbq. Pork chops maybe? 6. If you had a hot dog eating contest at this barbecue, who would win? Former teammate Boris The Forest. Dude is a giant! Need to eat a lot of dogs to sustain that body

wow, when I was searching for my old player I found this. Huge throw back by you on Paul Ready btw. He was my player, that’s who I was searching to find his season. Leafssteen and I have been friends irl for like 15 years. He was best man at my wedding.

I don’t recognize any of the names on that list (although Bob Toskala was Leafssteen, he and I joined together. Still know him irl). One player I had was Paul Ready I believe. Was on the Minot Gladiators, have always remembered that. Not sure the season

1. After the past week of up and down results, do you still think we can sneak into the playoffs? My head says no but my body says yes. 2. If we got into the playoffs, which team would you absolutely not want to play? We can take anyone 3. If we don't make the playoffs, what will this offseason look like for you? Training hard for my sophomore year! 4. If you could learn one new hobby during the upcoming offseason, what would it be and why? I’ve always wanted to learn to draw. Maybe I could pick that up and create my own comic book. 5. Looking a little ahead to the VHL Draft, which upcoming prospect would you most like to play with and why? Seems like there are three high end players in this draft. Barring a miracle, we won’t get one of them. I’m not sure who I’d like to play with, but will be it’ll be a low pick as DC is doing well. 6. If you set a goal before this season, reflect on it. Did you meet it? If you didn't set a goal, what would be your goal by the beginning of next season? my goal was 30 points! I hit it yesterday. Hoping to keep building on that, next year I’d like to hit 40+
