The season is coming to a close and Riga is in a position where they could miss the playoffs. They are 5 points from a playoff spot with 1 game in hand. Malmo and HC Davos both have 65 points with 3 games remaining. They both have a max point total of 71. Riga, unfortunately, has 4 games left for a max of 68. This means that in order to eliminate Riga from the playoff bubble, Malmo or HC Davos has to just win 2 games. It's Deja vu for Justin Lose as this happened to him in his first ever season in the VHLM with the Philadelphia Reapers. The Reapers failed to clinch the final spot in the playoffs, which the eventual season 74 champions Miami Marauders won. "It sucks being in this spot at the end of the season. Especially in a contract season. I played horrible and I'm not even going to be able to match my rookie season score-line. I guess the sophomore slump is true even in the VHL. I'm hoping that I can stay with Riga, but if there is no plan for me here then I will have to explore my options. I said that I would bring a cup to Riga and I want to keep that promise." - Sums up the Riga season perfectly.

You know the sim engine hates us when we lose to a BOT in a SHOOUTOUT.

1. We need all the luck we can get. We have been underperforming in key games so we need anything to get into the playoffs. 2. Playoffs are unpredictable. You are never guaranteed anything. 3. Luc Tessier is catching my eye with how hard they are working in the VHLM. 4. I'd have to say Jeff Dunham. I haven't really watched any recent comedy shows though. 5. Toy Story. Hands down. I grew up with Andy basically so I have a deep connection with that series. 6. Avatar the Last Airbender. Please watch it if you haven't. It's a masterpiece in television.

Justin Lose and the Riga Reign are in a tough spot right now right before the trade deadline. The GM has to choose either buying to gear up for a playoff push like last season or sell and hope to get to the playoffs. Currently Riga does not own their first round pick. That pick is with the London United. At the time of writing this, Riga is only 1 point back with 2 games in hand versus the 5th seed Malmo Nighthawks. It appeared that Riga was finished for the season after trading away star players General Zod and James Rose but are shocking hockey fans by pulling out wins against the big contenders this season. In the past 4 games they have beaten Toronto, Warsaw and Malmo. All of which are currently or in the hunt for a playoff spot. The biggest shock is the win against the league leader Warsaw Predators in a 4-3 victory for Riga. Justin Lose actually had the first star in that game with a 4 assist performance. "It's nice to see that we can beat the big juggernauts. Sometimes the big guys think it's going to be an easy win for them when they face the bubble teams. We proved that sometimes that doesn't work out for them. Don't count us out for a late playoff push." Of the remaining scheduled games, Riga has 13 games against playoff teams and 5 playoff bubble teams. The road to the playoffs is not easy for the Riga Reign. The trade deadline will be a big test for the squad as it could mean playoffs or the lottery tournament.

4 point game and only a +1. Ah powerplay time.... you make me sad / happy

1. I think we have a developed core that can make a big splash if everyone works over the offseason. 2. Nope. You have to work until the end. Nothing is ever handed to you. Just look at Halifax a few season ago, they were dominating the league and then lost to Miami in the first round. 3. If I had to do something I would just add 2 more teams to the VHL. An expansion draft would really free up some teams. 4. May. "May the 4th be with you" 5. I don't believe any conspiracy theories and I think that it can be harmful for some people. 6. To allow the pizza some room so it doesn't fold onto itself.

Game Six Overtime, 3-2 series lead for the Philadelphia Reapers with the Reapers being the home team. Hulk Hogan Jr slashes a Reaper and is sent to the box for 2 minutes. 13 seconds later Tom Eagles scores his 6th goal of the playoffs assisted by Carson Walkers which wins the series for the Reapers 4-2. Justin Lose was one of the penalty killers on that goal. It demoralized him and created the downward spiral that was the Season 76 blunder in the VHL. Lose has never fully recovered from that loss and it shows in his stats. Let's rewind history and see what would have happened if that goal wasn't scored by Tom Eagles. In an alternate timeline Markus Emerson Jr saves Eagles shot and was cleared by Justin Lose. Penalty Kill line 2 swaps out for penalty kill line 1 to have fresh legs for the Reapers next attack. Fast forward and Philly is unsuccessful in the power play with Hulk Hogan Jr getting back on the ice for 5 on 5. The penalty kill unit swaps out for line 2. 5 minutes have passed in the first overtime. The puck is in the offensive zone for the Kings. Foley wins the faceoff and passes it to John Callahan Jr. Callahan Jr cycles the puck around the net to Lose. Foley moves in front of Jacob Carson to screen him. Suddenly, Lose sees an opening in the Reaper defense with Callahan Jr wide open in the left faceoff dot. With his head up, Lose fakes a shot and passes it over the Reaper defensive sticks and lands perfectly for a one timer for Callahan Jr. The one timer goes right over the left blocker of Carson and hits the back of the net. Goal scored by John Callahan Jr with his 8th goal of the playoffs, assisted by Justin Lose and Chris Foley. Game 6 goes to the Mexico City Kings and moves the series back home for game 7. Game 7 would be a very defensive game. No one wants to take a penalty or make a mistake that could cost a goal. Markus Emerson Jr and Jacob Carson are both standing on their heads to keep the game even. This would be a marathon game and both teams knew this. Period 1 - Scoreless Period 2 - Scoreless Period 3 - Scoreless OT1 - Scoreless Mexico City fans are on the edge of their seats for the start of Overtime 2. Everyone is finally feeling the fatigue from 5 scoreless periods. A once fast pace game is turning into an endurance sprint. 8 minutes into OT2, a late change and an icing call leaves RJ Thatcher on the ice with Foley and Lose. Foley and Lose both got on before the icing call was made so they were allowed to stay on the ice. Both fresh compared to the gassed Thatcher. In the defensive zone, Foley wins the faceoff clean and passes it back to Hogan Jr. Hogan Jr passes it to Thatcher so he can dump it into the Reaper zone to change... except, he sees an opportunity. Lose realizing he was going to dump was sprinting hard in front of the Reaper defense. Thatcher saucer passes it to Lose who has been sprung on a breakaway. This is what every hockey kid dreams of, Game 7 on home ice with the game on your stick. With all of those practices with the Reapers the season before, Lose knew Carson had a weak point of his five hole. Lose fakes going left and slides the puck under Carsons pad. Time moves into slow-mo as Lose skates past Carson and watches the puck slide into the net. Suddenly, the crowd erupts as the goal horn blares and Lose is swarmed by Kings players. Goal by Justin Lose his 7th goal of the playoffs. Assisted by RJ Thatcher and Hulk Hogan Jr. Mexico City Kings are kings of the VHLM and win the series 4-3. Of course this is an alternate timeline and never happened. The Philadelphia Reapers are still the Season 75 VHLM Champions.

Review: Damn that is a very sharp picture. The player cutout has no visible mistakes. The background is a perfect balance and having the player highlighted is very intimidating. The name also stands out very well. Overall this is a great graphic, you seem to always come out with outstanding graphics. Outstanding work! 10/10

Review: This is a great graphic. Very simple and clean. The signature is very clear and creative. My only gripe is not having the logo replaced on the jersey. Other than that I would say this is amazing. Great job! 9/10.

1. Our GM has a tough choice coming up. Are we selling or buying at the deadline. Based on what happens will decide our fate. 2. Warsaw has a good chance, but its still too early to call it. 3. That would be incredible! I think he has a shot. 4. I would say you would create a time paradox and destroy the world with an ensuing blackhole. 5. I'd rather not think about that, so probably. 6. Horse the size of a cat. How adorable would that be?

I'm sorry. I changed that. I use dark theme so I didn't know. I'll keep that in mind in the future.... which means that probably everything I've done is invisible for light theme....

April is here so that means April Fools has passed. Lose was subject to a joke in the locker room when it was announced that he was traded to HC Davos Dynamo, alongside Cabe McJake. He was told it was for 3 first round picks. This came after the fake announcement where the VHLM and the VHL were to merge into one league. We spoke to Lose about the prank from the locker room. “I knew it was a joke, but it had me on edge all day. I know the GM was thinking of shaking up the team due to our performance. I always hate April Fools day since I’m easy picking for people. Honestly I wish the only joke was being traded, but my on ice performance has been a joke too. I’m surprised the deal didn’t actually happen to be honest. I know my GM will do anything it takes for us to make the playoffs. If that means a huge shakeup in the lineup which could be moving up or down in the lineup for me, I’m ready for anything. I’m just hoping I can get a contract offer from anyone at the end of the season.”

The Season 75 VHL Draft was one of the deepest drafts recently. With a staggering 300+ eligible players for the draft, only 112 of those were chosen in the VHL entry draft. Today I’m going to go over the first round of the Season 75 Draft and show where they are currently and how they have progressed in the league. Pistil Stamen Stamen was drafted first overall to the LA Stars with an entry TPE of 281. Currently Stamen is still with the LA Stars and is at 636 TPE. Compared to the other players in the draft, he is currently ranked 6th overall in TPE. He was immediately brought up to the Stars in Season 75 putting up 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points. Stamen is currently beating his rookie numbers with 16 goals and 15 assists in only 25 games played compared to the 72 game rookie campaign. Stamen has not seen any playoff run in their VHL career yet. Jolly Greene Giant Giant was drafted 2nd overall by the Toronto Legion with an entry TPE of 250. Currently Giant is still with the Legion and has 581 TPE. Compared to the others in the draft class he is ranked 10th in TPE. Giant spent Season 75 in the VHLM and was brought up for the full Season 76 campaign. He posted 13 goals and 31 assists for 44 points in his rookie season. In his sophomore season he has 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 25 games. Giant has not seen any playoff games in the VHL yet. Kunibuni UnGuri UnGuri was drafted 3rd overall by HC Davos Dynamo with an entry TPE of 236. UnGuri is still with the Dynamo and has 569 TPE, which compared to the rest of the draft class he is ranked 14th in TPE. UnGuri was the rookie backup in Season 75 and only played in 10 games. In those 10 games he had 5 wins and 3 losses with a .929 save% and 2.36 GAA. His role changed in Season 76 when he was given the starting role. In the current season he has 9 wins and 11 losses and 1 OT loss for a .92 save% and 3.52 GAA. UnGuri has not seen any playoff action in the VHL yet. L L was drafted 4th overall by the Chicago Phoenix with an entry TPE of 291. L is currently still with the Phoenix and is a key player at 649 TPE which compared to the draft class L is ranked 3rd in TPE. L was brought up to the Phoenix after being drafted and had an incredible rookie campaign with 14 goals and 46 assists for 60 points which earned L the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy for being the best rookie. L has found great success with the Phoenix and even won the Continental Cup in Season 76. L currently has 6 goals and 16 assists for 22 points in 25 games. L had 2 runs in the VHL playoffs and, as stated before, won the Continental Cup in Season 76 by posting 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points in 15 games. RJ Thatcher Thatcher was drafted 5th overall by the NY Americans with an entry TPE of 246. He is currently at 436 TPE which is ranked 30th in the draft class. Thatcher spent Season 75 in the VHLM and was brought up for the Season 76 action. He posted 21 goals and 35 assists for 56 points in his rookie campaign. In the current season he has 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 25 games. He has yet to see any action in the VHL Playoffs. R R was drafted 6th overall by the Chicago Phoenix with an entry TPE of 219. R is currently at 451 TPE which compared to the rest of the class he is ranked 28th. R was brought up in Season 75 with 7 goals and 22 assists for 29 points in 71 games. In Season 77 he has 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points. He is a Continental Cup champion with the Season 76 win. He has 2 playoff appearances already with a combined total of 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points in 32 games. Cabe McJake McJake was drafted 7th overall by the Riga Reign with an entry TPE of 235. Currently he is at 683 and ranked 2nd in TPE in the draft class. He wasn’t immediately brought up in Season 75 and had a full rookie campaign in Season 76 where he had 36 goals and 37 assists for 73 points. In Season 77 he already has 7 goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 25 games. His only playoff appearance came in Season 76 with only 4 games. He had 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points in those 4 games. Addison McLaren McLaren was drafted 8th overall by the Riga Reign with an entry TPE of 227. McLaren is currently at 623 TPE and is ranked 5th compared to the rest of the draft class. Just like McJake he was in the VHLM for Season 75 until he was called up in Season 76. He had 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in his rookie campaign. Currently he has 11 goals and 8 assists for 19 points in 25 games already. He has 4 games of playoff experience with Riga and has only 1 goal in those 4 games. Taro Tsujimoto Tsujimoto was drafted 9th overall by the HC Davos Dynamo. He is still with the Dynamo and has a staggering 713 TPE which compared to the rest of the draft class is ranked 1st. He was immediately brought up to the VHL after being drafted and posted a 19 goal and 24 assists for 43 points in his rookie campaign. He has improved his stats over Season 76 and is currently, in Season 77, at 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 25 games. Although Tsujimoto is a key part of the Dynamo, he has yet to see playoff action. Dolant Fertitta Fertitta was drafted 10th overall by the Riga Reign with an entry TPE of 215. Fertitta is currently with the Moscow Menace after being traded for a 3rd round pick in the Season 76 off-season. Unfortunately he hasn’t been very active and that is reflected in his current TPE of 417. Compared to the rest of the draft class he is ranked 32nd in TPE. He was brought up in Season 76 after another season in the VHLM. He posted a 23 goal and 32 assist for 55 points rookie season. Currently with the Menace he has 7 goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 25 games. His only playoff experience came from Riga in Season 76 with only 1 assist in 4 games. Scotty Kaberle Kaberle was drafted 11th overall by the Toronto Legion with an entry TPE of 211. He is still with the Legion and has 617 TPE which is ranked 7th against the rest of the class. He didn’t join the VHL squad until Season 76 and had 13 goals and 35 assists for 48 points. In the current season he is on pace for a point-a-game with 6 goals and 19 assists for 25 points in 25 games. He has yet to see a playoff game with the Legion. Joe Kelly Kelly was drafted 12th overall by the Riga Reign with an entry TPE of 257. Unfortunately Kelly is inactive and is a free agent with only 277 TPE. Kelly was traded in the Season 75 off-season to the DC Dragons for a 3rd round pick and was traded to the HC Davos Dynamo for Lewis Dawson. With Kelly being inactive he has dropped to 67th compared to the others in the draft class. Kelly was put into the Riga lineup after being drafted putting up 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points. He never hit that number as his brief stint with DC only produced 2 goals and 3 assists and after being traded again only putting up 7 goals and 1 assist. He was released at the end of Season 76. Kelly never saw playoff action with any team. Muffbeav Muffbeav was drafted 13th overall by the Warsaw Predators with an entry TPE of 263. Muffbeav is currently at 551 TPE and is still with the Predators. Compared to the rest of the draft class he is ranked 16th in TPE. He was brought up to the VHL after being drafted and had 16 goals and 41 assists for 57 points in just his rookie campaign. He has yet to hit those numbers again, but he currently has 7 goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 25 games already. He has seen the playoffs twice and has a combined total of 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 26 games. Sirkants Klamasteris Klamasteris was drafted 14th overall to the Riga Reign, their 5th and final first round pick, with an entry TPE of 276. Currently Klamasteris is with the Toronto Legion after being traded in the Season 75 off-season after being traded for Toronto’s first round pick in Season 78. Compared to the draft class, he is currently ranked 4th overall in TPE. He was brought up to the VHL after the draft and only played in 15 games and posted 3 wins and 5 losses and 1 OT loss with a .926 save% and a 2.95 GAA. He was a backup in Riga and when traded is expected to be the starter in the future, but currently is considered a backup to Jaxx Hextall who retires next season. This season he has 8 games for 3 wins and 1 loss and 1 OT loss with a .924 save% and a 2.97 GAA. Klamasteris has not seen any playoff action yet. Its Gucci Gucci was drafted 15th overall to the LA Stars with an entry TPE of 220 TPE. Currently Gucci is still with the LA Stars and is at 509 TPE. Compared to the draft class, Gucci is ranked 24th in TPE. After the draft Gucci was kept in the VHLM to grow and was only brought up for Season 76. In his rookie campaign he posted 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points. Currently with only 25 games played he has 8 goals and 11 assists for 19 points. Gucci has not seen any playoff action in the VHL. Rara Rasputin Rasputin was drafted 16th overall to the Moscow Menace with an entry TPE of 250. Currently Rasputin is with the Seattle Bears after he was traded in a 1 for 1 trade and is at 603 TPE. Compared to the rest of the draft class, he is currently ranked 8th overall in TPE. Rasputin was put into the Moscow net in his rookie campaign putting up 6 wins and 2 losses for a .919 save% and 2.77 GAA. When he was with Moscow he was considered a backup, but after the trade to Seattle his role has changed into the starting goalie. He only played in 12 games with Moscow before getting more starts in Seattle with 68 games in Season 76. In the current season he is at 24 games and 11 wins and 11 losses with 1 OT loss at .917 save% and 2.98 GAA. Rasputin has seen playoff action with 11 total games split between Seattle and Moscow (10 with Seattle and 1 with Moscow). His best campaign was Season 76 with Seattle with 10 games, 5 wins 2 losses and 3 overtime losses. He posted a .94 save% and 2.11 GAA during those 10 games. And so we come to the conclusion of this long post. I hope I did a fair and quick analysis to everyone in the first round. I’m totally biased so I might do a 2nd round analysis since I was in it. Keep an eye out in the future for that. 2018 words (Claiming 4 weeks)

At the time of this interview Justin Lose has 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points and a +/- -1 in 8 games. He was recently demoted to try to spark some offense for the team. We caught up with him to get his reactions. “Oh man I just can’t catch a f***ing break. I try my hardest to improve my game, get better defensively and work with the coaching staff in Riga. I dedicated weeks of my life in the offseason to get better instead of being with my family. What am I rewarded with? Another demotion. If this is the campaign season to keep me in Riga, it’s already off to a horrible start. I obviously want to win and I support the GM’s decision, but when my replacement is doing worse than me it’s depressing. I’ve lost a lot of motivation to keep going in this league. Maybe I do explore some different options in the offseason.”
-
1 - 6 - 1. That’s the current record for the Riga Reign. Another disappointing start to the season. For Justin Lose, it’s another frustrating start to the season. Once again he was living life on the first line. The first few games looked promising for him scoring some points and getting the first goal for the Riga Reign this season. Deja vu strikes again and Lose was demoted to the 2nd line. To put it into perspective, Justin Lose has 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points and a +/- -1 in 8 games. The other two first linemates, Cabe McJake and Ray Sheilds, are also in a scoring slump. Cabe McJake has only 3 goals and 1 assist and a +/- -5 and Ray Sheilds has 3 goals and 1 assist and a +/- of -6. It’s obvious that Justin Lose isn’t the only one that is in a slump right now. Lose has expressed his anger in a recent interview. He brings up that he is the scapegoat the past 2 seasons when being demoted. The replacement for Lose? Addison McLaren, 2 goals. Justin seems to have lost motivation in the league after being demoted again. After a long offseason, it’s not paying off for Lose. Let’s step back from Justin Lose and look at the overall picture. Let’s try to analyze what is going wrong with the Riga Reign. Currently they are last in the Euro Conference and second to last, ahead of the DC Dragons, in the overall standings. There is a 2 way tie for the leader in goals with Ray Sheilds and Cabe McJake with 3 goals and a 3 way tie for the leader in points with General Zod, James Rose and Artair McCloud with 5 points. No one on the Riga team is at a point a game pace through 8 games. One of the main issues right now is scoring. You would think with top talent like Ray Sheilds and Cabe McJake that they would find the net easily. The other slot should just be a plug in and score too. Unfortunately that isn’t the case and they are lacking that star player. No particular person stands out against the rest of the team. Another problem is the +/-, aka keeping the puck out of the net. This could go in two ways, defensive play and goalies. The top 5 worst +/- on the team are from the defense. The two top defensemen Zod and Rose are the 3rd and 5th worst +/- on the team. Is this just poor defensive play or just a string of back luck with the backup goalie in net, Matthew A Sovick Jr. Riga likes to start the season out with the backup goalie to prevent any rule breaking by the end of the season. This same issue happened last season, but when Calvin Harvey went into the net things turned around for the Riga squad. Will it be Deja Vu again for this season when Harvey mans the net? Obviously this is just an overreaction since it’s so early on into the season. Once Harvey gets into the net things will go back to normal for the Riga squad. For Justin Lose, it will be a huge test to see where he ends up at the end of the season in the lines. He will try to get back to the first line.

Review: This is a great graphic! I see no imperfections with the player cutout and you even replaced the shoulder patch with the LA patch. Was a filter placed over the face? It seems like it was almost painted on which fits well with the background. Simple and clean name placement too. Overall this is a great graphic. I can't really find anything wrong with this. Maybe besides just the shoulder patch, put a little logo next to the player name? Otherwise excellent work. 10/10.
