  1. My man @Matt thunder got a GM job!!! Congrats! Enjoy it.
  2. 6/28 - 7/4 - Playoffs / 4th of July Edition! Answer 6 questions to claim 2 TPE 1. Round 1 Sweep. Do you think we can keep this momentum going into round 2? 2. Halifax and Houston are going to a game 7. Who would you want to face from the remaining teams in round 2? 3. Ron World Peace III lit it up in the first round with 9 points. Do you think he was our breakout player in round 1? 4. Dexter Vaughn posted a .919 save% and 2.46 GAA with a shutout. How much of a beast is Vaughn right now? 5. Who do you think will be the breakout player in round 2? 6. Tampa vs Montreal in the cup finals. I believe this will be the only time this will ever happen in history. Who do you want to see raise the cup? Good to know I'm not the only pizza lover here, although @Kmatt with the sushi is kind of suspicious (kidding of course).
  3. Riga missed the playoffs again. They lost the last game of the season that would have pushed them through to the playoffs. Frustration isn't even the right word. Embarrassed, upset, and anger are some of the emotions running through the locker room after the defeat. "We had the chance to win and get into the playoffs. Actually, all we needed was a point. I feel like I let the team down. We all let each other down. Harvey was playing some of his best during the end stretch. Of course, I would love to run it back. Our squad was hungry for a deep playoff push." Riga tied the Malmo Nighthawks with 76 points, but they lost out on the spot because of the tiebreaker which is winning. Riga had 32 and Malmo had 35. All Riga had to do was get 1 point out of their last game of the season. No $1000 to charity this season I guess.
  4. Even though I just took the AGM position with the Minnesota Storm, I'd love to just get the application experience. My goal is to be a gm in the future so this will be a great step in the right direction.
  5. If this isn't a Duet I think there's going to be a riot
  6. 6/21 - 6/27 - Summer Edition Answer 6 questions to claim 2 TPE 1. The season is almost over already. How would you rate your performance on the team so far? 2. For some this is the last time they are going to be playing in the VHLM. What advice do you have for the players moving up to the VHL? 3. To piggyback on the previous question, some of the players are going into the VHLM dispersal draft. What are some tips to give for those draft day nerves? 4. Who do you think is going to win the cup in the VHL? 5. Round 1 vs Saskatoon with home ice advantage. What's your prediction? 6.. What other sport, if any, do you follow? 7. What is the best food and why is it pizza (kidding)? Glad to see people are doing okay. With the season closing this week, I just want to say thank you to all the players who welcomed me as their AGM this season. I know I came in late in the game but I felt at home as soon as I joined the locker room. Let's hope for a deep playoff run!
  7. Final claim week 3
  8. With the fight for playoffs heating up, it's time to make sure that our mental health is stable moving forward. That's why when we had a day off we went on a mini-vacation. Of course, everyone used their time differently. If you remember my media spot last season I wrote up a huge novel for amusement parks near each team. Obviously, I had to go to an amusement park for my mini vacation. I don't know why, but I just find that I become relaxed when riding roller coasters. It's nice to recharge for the grueling schedule ahead with our playoff hopes slowly closing. "It's nice to just relax and have some fun before the real hard work begins. The EU conference this season is a madhouse and anyone can make the playoffs at this point. We have to work together and pull out some key victories and hope for some of the other teams to make mistakes so we can catch them."
  9. 6/14 - 6/20 - Trade Deadline Edition Answer 6 questions to claim 2 TPE 1. 20 games remain and we have already clinched our playoff spot. Who do you want to face in round 1? 2. Jocke Jockesson is currently rated the 3rd best defenseman in points. Does this even surprise you anymore? 3. Our offense has been scoring a bunch these past few games. What / Who do you think are the key contributors? 4. Our powerplay is currently at 30.1%, which is rated higher than Halifax. Do you think we can improve on that getting closer to the playoffs? 5. Vegas / Montreal / Tampa / New York. How wrong is your NHL playoff brackets? 6. It's almost summer!!! What are you looking forward to during the summer? 7. Just want to check in with you. How are you? The giveaway is over! Congrats @Anomalijs!
  10. Claiming week 2
  11. The top 5 of each conference make it to the playoffs in the VHL. The final 2 playoff spots fight in a play-in to face the number 1 seed in next round. For Justin Lose and the Riga Reign, they have only made it to the Play-ins where they lost in 4 games. That was in Season 76. It's Season 78 and Riga hasn't come close to making it back to the playoffs. This season is different for Lose and it's time to put some money down. "I want to win and get into the playoffs. That's why today I'm announcing I will be donating $500 to a charity voted from the VHL community if the Riga Reign make the playoffs. I'll let my agent go over more details. I'm committed to getting a cup here in Riga and if this means putting some incentive I will do it." OOC: Yes I will donate $500 to a charity that you will vote on. Hell, I'll even do an additional $100 per round that we win and a total of $1000 if we win the cup. This was inspired by trying to bribe the sim engine to give us some luck. I'm not sure if @DoktorFunkmeant it as a joke, but I'm committed to this. (You don't actually have to donate / donate that much. This isn't a callout) If we make the playoffs, expect a poll with some local charities or suggest a charity down below. **This is only from me. I don't want to include anyone else and no I'm not rich.

  13. Let's chat about the VHLE and how it impacts me as a player and as an Assistant General Manager in the VHLM. I'll try to bring a good example for each. The expansion of a 3rd league is a great way to manage the influx of players in the VHLM / VHL. Let's go over the benefits from a player perspective. Player Imagine going from dominating the VHLM with a cup win and 100+ points only to fall flat on your face and only scoring 20 points in the VHL because you don't have a lot of TPE compared to the rest of the league / team. The VHLE is a great way to find success while building up TPE for your rookie season. Not really the best example but let's take a look at Justin Lose. Lose spent 2 seasons in the VHLM with the Philadelphia Reapers and the Mexico City Kings in Season 74 and Season 75 respectively. In 106 games played he had 41 goals and 54 assists for 95 points. He even had 16 games played in the playoffs with 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points. Lose was brought up to the Riga Reign in the VHL in Season 76. In his rookie campaign he had 23 goals and 41 assists for 64 points. This is a considerable regression compared to Season 75. -10 Goals / -2 Assists / -12 Points. His +/- even dropped significantly. Of course a lot of factors went into the different numbers. The Mexico City Kings in Season 75 were cup contenders. The Season 76 Riga Reign wasn't a cup contender team where a lot of rookies were brought up from the VHLM to the roster, even though we did make the playoffs that season. What I'm trying to say is that players will have an option of building up more TPE in the VHLE instead of making a huge leap to the VHL roster and still have a great season in the stats against players at the same TPE level. Assistant General Manager As the AGM of a VHLM team, Minnesota Storm, I feel this will make the VHLM a lot more interesting going forward. This will make scouting and recruiting very important. This will also open a lot of doors for more goalies to be created to fill out the starter / backup roles in the VHLE. It encourages everyone to be more active and go for the capped TPE to move up from the VHLM to the VHLE. A positive is that players don't retire until 9 seasons. This gives more time for players to develop their player in the VHLM if they want if they join late. Also gives more people into the GM and AGM roles. Honestly, I'm hyped about the VHLE. I can't wait to experience it after Justin Lose retires in the future. It will be a great opportunity for everyone involved to grow further and even get the chance to possibly go for a GM/AGM position in the future.

  15. 6/7 - 6/13 - 11 Wins in a Row Edition! Answer 6 questions to claim 2 TPE 1. Big question out of the gate, what are your thoughts on this insane 11 win streak? 2. Do you think we can keep it going? 3. Who do you think the key factors are for the streak? 4. Moving on from the streak and with theme week this week, what are your reactions to the VHLE? 5. On the topic of the VHLE, would you want to move up to the VHL directly or spend a season in the VHLE (VHLM 250 TPE cap / VHLE 350 TPE cap)? 6. What is the best ice cream flavor? 7. I might be running a giveaway in the discord, what game would you want to win? I hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend. It was rainy and cold all weekend near me unfortunately. Memorial day itself was a great day though!
  16. Welcome to the league @seboi! Unfortunately our roster is full with the Minnesota Storm. We would like to wish you the best of luck in the league though. I'm sure you will find a great team to help in the future! Let me know if you have any questions. You can PM me on here or even message me on discord directly youloser1337#4968. Once again, good luck and I hope you enjoy your time in the league! - Youloser1337 Minnesota Storm AGM
  17. A rest day is upon us and Riga Reign is taking advantage of that. Justin Lose is also taking some time to himself to help focus for the next few weeks. Riga is currently in a position where they can steal a playoff spot in a grueling EU conference. We spoke with Justin Lose about the rest day and what he thinks about the current situation for Riga. "It's a sprint to the finish right now towards the playoffs. It's still a bit early to start thinking about playoffs but obviously that's the goal for every team this season. The EU conference is super competitive too. We have to keep winning to stay with the pack. I'm not trying to think about my point production as much. I'm much more focused on what the team is doing right now." - Lose on the current standings "Rest days are key for me. I absolutely love rest days in the VHL. It gives me time to relax a bit and enjoy some family time. This also gives me some time to review footage for upcoming games too. I want an edge to keep up the scoring pace and winning games for Riga." - Lose on rest days
  18. A follow up to my review of the first round of the Season 75 draft, here is round 2 (best round, no bias). The Season 75 draft was one of the biggest drafts and one of the most deep drafts. Instead of the usual 4 rounds in the draft, there were 7 rounds! With over 300 players in the draft too. Round 2 is where some of the biggest risks can be taken for the VHL GMs. You have to gamble to either get a gem late or a bust. Some of the top TPE earners are in this round to the surprise to many. Before I begin going over a brief review of each player, here are some fun facts about this round. - Highest current TPE is Justin Lose with 759 - Highest career goals is Justin Lose with 65 - Highest career assists is Linus Zetterstorm with 137 - Highest career points is Linus Zetterstorm with 178 - Highest playoff points is Ove Dyrdahl with 13 - Current total goals scored is 556 - Current total assists is 1107 - Current total points is 1663 - Playoffs have a total of 18 goals / 39 assists / 57 points Pick 17 - Chicken Wing - D - New York Americans Chicken Wing has had a good career with the Americans, putting up solid numbers for a defensemen and improving every season. Seems to be a top 4 D behind Latrell Mitchell and Kosmo Kramerev. So far has been a consistent 60 point getter for the Americans with last season being the career high in points with 62. No playoff action currently unfortunately. Pick 18 - Dan Dan - RW - Helsinki Titans Dan Dan is an improving RW for the Titans. His numbers have slowly been increasing over the seasons. It looks like he can be floated between the 1st line and 2nd line. Helsinki has made the playoffs twice since he joined the roster, including the cup loss this past season. In 25 games in the playoffs he only scored 8 points though. I'm sure he would put up more numbers as he gets better. Pick 19 - Nero Endrizzi - C - Free Agent Unfortunately we come to our first FA of the 2nd round. He put up okay numbers for his rookie campaign. Season 75 was his best season in the VHLM, putting up 102 points with the Marlins. Endrizzi had 1 season with Warsaw before becoming a FA in Season 77. He did score 1 goal in the Warsaw cup run. Pick 20 - Cowboy Prout - D - Calgary Wranglers Prout is one of the Wranglers top 2 defensemen currently. Putting up 150 career points as a defensemen is a great gem in the draft. After being traded from the New York Americans, Prout seems to only get better as the seasons go by. He was a part of the Wranglers Season 76 cup run but didn't post any points. Pick 21 - Jordan Tate - C - Moscow Menace Tate has had an interesting career so far. Drafted by the Chicago Phoenix only to be traded a season after making the roster to the Moscow Menace. It appears Tate could be between the 2nd line and the 3rd line for Moscow. He doesn't put up a lot of numbers, but he is on track to have a career high in points in the current season. He has seen playoffs with Chicago but only put up 3 points. Pick 22 - Shawn Andrei Zyuzin - D - Free Agent Zyuzin was a defenseman who was drafted by the New York Americans. He unfortunately didn't transition well so he was later traded to the Calgary Wranglers in hope of finding some success. He was released to FA after Season 77. He didn't see any playoff action in his career. Pick 23 - Sheldon Juniper - C - Vancouver Wolves Another top notch depth pick in this draft. Juniper was drafted by the Wranglers before being traded to the Vancouver Wolves. He has a breakout season with the Wranglers posting a career high 66 points. Juniper looks to be an important piece of the 2nd line for the Wolves. He has only seen playoffs once with the Wranglers but didn't put up any points. Pick 24 - Robert Bouchard - C - Prague Phantoms Prague seems to have struck a gem in the 2nd round with the Bouchard pick. He has improved every season with the Phantoms so far and has great stats. With a career total of 128 points, it's a great addition to the squad. It appears he plays on the 2nd line with a great forward core with the Phantoms. Bouchard has 19 career playoff games and has 7 points to prove it Pick 25 - Ove Dyrdahl - Los Angeles Stars Dyrdahl was immediately thrown into the DC Dragons lineup, where he was drafted, at the start of Season 75. After an okay rookie campaign, he has steadily improved every season with the DC Dragons. He left DC to sign as a FA to the LA Stars where he is on pace to have a career high in points. In LA he is currently a top 4 defenseman. He had 2 appearances in the playoffs with 25 games played and 13 career points. Pick 26 - Justin Lose - RW - Riga Reign I'm going to be very bias right here. Lose is a bipolar scorer for the Riga Reign. He has had a rocky road to the top line of Riga. Consistent 23 goal scorer 2 seasons in a row and on pace to beat his career high in points from his rookie campaign. He currently has in his career 167 points. He is currently in second overall in points for the 2nd round. He is also in the top ten for TPE earned in the draft class. He has seen playoffs once and only has 3 points. Pick 27 - Linus Zetterstorm - D - Riga Reign Another gem for Riga here. Zetterstorm is a solid top 2 defenseman for Riga who has more assists than goals. With 178 career points, he has the top points of the second round. A trusted and top defenseman for the Riga Reign. He is also a shot blocking machine with a career total of 424 shot blocks. Zetterstorm is another top TPE earner for Riga. He has seen the playoffs once with Riga and posted a goal and an assist for 2 points. Pick 28 - Artair McCloud - RW - Riga Reign We have another Riga player on our plate. This was the Reign's 3rd pick in a row in the 2nd round. McCloud is a consistent 19 goal scorer for the Reign. McCloud has bounced around from the 1st line and the 2nd line since joining the roster. Currently he is a solid 2nd line forward and trusted to score for the Reign. Another gem in the rough for Riga. He has only seen playoffs once with Riga and has 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points. Pick 29 - John Callahan Jr - LW - Free Agent Oh this one stings. Callahan Jr and Lose were teammates in the VHLM for 2 seasons with the Reapers and the Kings. He graduated to the VHL in Season 76 and went to free agency after that season. He had okay numbers in his rookie campaign but didn't see playoffs. Pick 30 - Jakob Sosa - C - Vancouver Wolves This was a great depth pick for the consistent improvement he has shown in his career. The Wolves has gotten a great depth piece that they can place on the 1st or 2nd line to fill any gaps. He is already having a career high in points this season! He has 5 points in 13 games in the playoffs with the Wolves. Pick 31 - Vick Fairchild - LW - Helsinki Titans Another gem! This time a very deep 2nd round pick in Vick Fairchild with the Helsinki Titans. Fairchild appears to play on the 2nd line and has consistently improved every season he has played with the Titans. He has seen playoffs twice with the Titans and has 12 points in 25 games with them. An absolute steal for the Titans this deep in the draft. Pick 32 - Vivek Weiner - C - Free Agent Finally we have Vivek Weiner who is another FA currently. He was drafted by Riga and didn't transition well so he was traded to the Malmo Nighthawks where he continued to struggle. After that he was released for inactivity. We have come to the conclusion on another Season 75 draft round review. It's incredible how deep this draft was with how many gems were chosen in the 2nd round. I don't think we will ever see a draft this deep in the future for a while. Of course when the Season 75 players recreate I can see it being another deep VHL draft. That is still far away though. Unfortunately while there are gems there are busts who are currently FA which is upsetting. Obviously you want everyone to succeed in the VHL. I hope you all enjoyed because I don't know if I will do another one of these in the future. 1500 words - claiming 3 weeks For all those stat nerds, here is a excel sheet of all the stats (Sorry light users):
